Tight lacing can help reduce your waist, if you wear a corset about 20/hours a day for months and months....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tightlacing

I've heard this is what Dita does.

I've never heard of any exercises that spot reduce, which sucks, as I'm pretty boyish in the waist area too, and would love to shrink down that more...

You can't target fat loss, so the only option you have is rigorous cardio that will eventually make you lose fat everywhere. You can also weight lift and target the muscles around that area...that will increase definition.

Waist training with corsets can be damaging to your health if you don't do it right, and it can be hard to find corsets that are specifically designed for that purpose. Be careful with this. It's not exactly a quick fix.

^she is not fat anywhere though... She just wants to change the actual shape of her waist. If anouk lost weight shed be really skinny. I would imagine there is some sort of plastic surgery that you could change the shape of your waist. But I dont think you need it.

Waist training with corsets do really work, but make sure you get the genuine steel boned kind, not the cheap kind you find in lingerie stores. The real kind is not cheap, I own one but it is a huge pain in the ass to get into and out of, and hard to do it by yourself unless you are really experienced with corsets. The smallest waist ever recorded was 12 inches achieved by decades and decades of waist training. The lady looked like a freak though.. Obviously you are not going to go that drastic, but if you can narrow one extra inch why not. But you have to wear it 23/7 literally for a long time. If your body structure is shaped like that (ie, ribs are not narrow/tapering shaped), then I am not sure if exercise will help. Especially since you said you are already toned.

there is a really good corset place that specialises in medieval, edwardian etc looks and different corsets i should check it.
    haha thnx jessie
yes there is the one where they break off like a rib or two on each side but i dont think i want something so drastic.
    gallery serpentine reccomends this one

^^ If you're wanting waist training corsets, Galleries Serpentine is NOT your best bet. They specialise in movement corsets, and more decorative/fashion corsets. Yes, they hurt like hell and are tight, but they're not made for waist reduction. I know that House of Fetish used to make proper steel boned training corsets, but you were looking at $400 minimum. If you want a corset for that reason, I'd go with doing a bit more research. But if you want something pretty to wear into work go GS..

I was looking into waist training for a long time, I have a small waist, but slightly too big rib cage I want to shrink.

I found this source to be the best for corsets for waist training: www.romantasy.com

I emailed back and forth with the owner of this business, Ann, and she is REALLY knowledgable and can help you pick exactly what you need. Each corset makers' corsets give you different looks, some give you the "wasp waist" look, others more like an ice cream cone. You would have to buy a basic underbust corset that you would be able to wear under your clothes and even sleep in.

You CAN shrink your waist in six months to a year dramatically, just look at some of her clients in the photo gallery. Also, wearing the corset makes you lose weight, because it you can't eat as much, and you definitely can't get drunk in one. It's a whole lifestyle change. Now I wan't one again!

im sure the discomfort would take awhile to get used to
i never slept in a corset before
if you waist train for awhile and lose some, does it go back if you dont wear corsets for while?

I slept in a hard plastic and metal backbrace for YEARS. It was incredibly tight - as the purpose of it was to stop my bones from growing, and actually push my spine to the left. You'd be amazed what you can get used too....

I know it's an old thread, but what the hell.

In another thread I was asking about my idea of getting in shape and I thank everyone for those imputs. Since I like to wear shape wear and the like (I'm gonna be wearing my spanxs as soon as the boyo is out of the oven), I was also considering using a corset. I was wondering if an under-bust (since I'm gonna be nursing/pumping milk) corset like the one below would be a good one.

    http://www.corset-story.com/long-lin...y-067-acb.html

Or should I look for a longer one since I'm kinda tall?

I love the look of a longer corset, but they are hellish to try to sit in.

Also, IMO, you should try to find a custom-made corset if you intend to be in it for an extended period of time. I think $75 is too much for an off-the-rack underbust. But I probably wouldn't buy an off-the-rack corset ever again for any price.

If you shape your waist with a corset, and then stop wearing the corset, do you lose the shape?

    Read up on waist training:

Short answer: not usually. It changes the shape of your ribs.

Do you think a corset would fuck with scoliosis that is on the moderate spectrum? Hmmm...maybe it would help out a little...at least with posture?

I wish all these old posters still posted! Does tight lacing for sure need to be done with a steel boned corset or will a cincher work? I want to do boned, but I won't always be able to wear something boned. Can someone link me to go online daily use "corsets" for tight lacing but not necessarily waist training?

Edit: Now I'm extra confused. Some sites make it seem like tight lacing and waist training are different and others make it sound like its the same thing.

They are basically the same thing, however, people selling waist cinchers will tell you that those are waist trainers, but they aren't. Tightlacing is basically wearing the corset all the time and little by little getting it tighter (hence the name). You need to wear a steel boned, although I think you can get away with wearing a cincher during the times you cannot lace up. https://lucycorsetry.com/ She does a good job of explaining how to waist train. Although now she has a lot of info, it's almost too much.

I have an on again off again obsession with tightlacing. I've got a couple of off-the-rack tightlacing corsets (more sturdy than fashion corsets) from https://timeless-trends.com/ I'm happy with them, but I'd like to get a custom one that is short in the back so it doesn't make me feel like it's flattening my booty lol. I've also slept in mine. But then I'll take it off and forget to put it back on for a week and then I lose interest for a few weeks smh. I'm so inconsistent. But you can wear for 12-16 hours a day but it will take a bit longer to achieve the results you want. Otherwise, a cincher will look good under clothes, but there will be no permanent reduction.
