Default Living in a different state than your ID

As I'm trying to sign up for SM, I'm in a pickle and not sure what exactly they want. I'm originally from Wisconsin and have a Wisconsin driver's license. But I currently live in Indiana and that is what I always put my address as and want everything mailed to me here. I'm not eligible to become an Indiana resident yet so I can't get a new license or state ID from here.

On the performer release, they ask for my mailing address so I wrote my Indiana address and put that address as the one I want my checks mailed to. But on the age verification form, they want me to write that I'm a resident of (state) and to just list "address" not "mailing address." I'm technically a "resident" of Wisconsin and I have a permanent address there that is still on my driver's license. Do I have to write that I'm a resident of Wisconsin and put in the address that's on my license so it matches?

God, it's such a pain not being to just get freakin' residency in a state that I've lived in for 4 years I never know exactly what to put on address forms.

you should be able to get a state id in indiana if you have a lease and utility bill at your address in indiana. why are you considered a "resident" of wisconsin? if you live and work in indiana, you can pay taxes in indiana, you can vote in indiana, and you can get a state id in indiana. the only such residency requirements that i know of are for school purposes - like, when i moved from florida to virginia, i could get a state id right away using my lease in virginia, and register to vote in virginia, but the school i attended didn't consider me a resident for in-state tuition purposes. the only reason this might not be the case is if you're planning to move back to wisconsin or if you are claiming that your place of residence is in wisconsin. but if you pay rent/mortgage in indiana, you should be considered a resident of indiana and be able to get an id there.

For the purpose of obtaining a driver’s license, permit, or identification card, the term “Indiana Resident” refers to the following individuals:
A person who is living in Indiana and who has no other legal residence.
A person who has been living in Indiana for a least 183 days during the calendar year and who has legal residence in another state.
A person who is registered to vote in Indiana.
A person who has a child enrolled in an elementary school or a secondary school in Indiana.
A person who received more than half of his or her adjusted gross income from Indiana.
A person who is enrolled as a student of a truck-driving training school and has legal residence in another state but is living in Indiana temporarily for the express purpose of taking truck driver training.
For the purpose of obtaining a driver’s license, permit, or identification card, the term “Indiana Resident” does not refer to the following individuals:
A person who is attending an institution of higher education in Indiana.
A person who is serving on active duty in the Armed Forces.
A person who is operating specialized construction equipment temporarily on a public road.
A person who is not a resident of Indiana and who has a current valid license issued by another state and who meets the minimum age requirements for the equivalent type of Indiana driver’s license.
either way, it may be the case that your address on your release doesn't need to match your id. are they actually giving you problems about it? i signed up on imlive when i still had my florida id but used my virginia address (i didn't get my virginia id til about 6 months after i moved), and imlive didn't give me any trouble. i would email support and check with them - it may not be a problem at all. they just want to prove you are over 18 - they don't necessarily have to have the addresses match.

My boyfriend has a NY state ID but lives in MI. He sent his paperwork in to SkinVideo so he could appear on cam with me, and they didn't give him any problems. So I don't think SM would have an issue with it either.

Yeah, I moved here for school and they told me that I could not get "legal residence" as long as my purpose for being here was higher education (for tuition purposes). So technically I'm still a resident of Wisconsin and I think I've only ever paid taxes to the state of Wisconsin. I didn't know if you could get a state ID if you weren't technically considered a legal resident. I should look into it though, especially since I'm no longer in school. In the meantime, I think I'll take your advice and just put down my IN address. Thanks!

you can get a state id (and register to vote) in indiana as long as you have a lease in indiana, you just can't be considered an in-state resident for tuition purposes. but the school/tuition issue is totally separate from the state id issue. i came to virginia for school and they gave me a state id just fine since i live here - they just wouldn't let me claim legal residency for tuition purposes. it doesn't matter if you are a student when you are getting your state id. but either way it shouldn't cause paperwork issues with streamate. hope this helps!
