Default does laser hair removal actually work?

    saw a groupon for it:

    here's the groupon ad:

Hair is like detailed knowledge of X-Files plotlines—while extremely useful, revealing too much of it in the wrong place can sink your social life. Today's Groupon abducts rogue hairs with technology invented by a shadowy group of elites known only as the Syndicate: for $115, you get six laser hair-removal treatments at 360° MedSpa and Wellness Center in Southlake (up to a $600 value). This Groupon is valid toward treatments on a small area, which includes the upper lip (a $300 value), chin (a $300 value), bikini line (a $600 value), abdomen trail (a $300 value), sideburns (a $300 value), ears (a $300 value), and underarms (a $300 value). Customers may also purchase multiple Groupons to apply toward larger bodily areas: two for the front and back of the neck (a $600 value), four for a Brazilian treatment (a $1,050 value), or four for the lower legs ( a $1,200 value).

360° MedSpa's expert hair expellers banish unwanted body fuzz with six laser hair-removal sessions. They’ll gingerly barrage designated body acreage with laser beams, reducing the growth of follicular forests more safely and effectively than hiring unlicensed hobo clowns to operate epidermal bulldozers. Laser hair removal is quick and gentle, much like ripping off a bandage made from kitten fur. Typically, six sessions per area are required to successfully shepherd skin into a state of lasting silkiness.

I can buy up to six groupons to use for myself-- $115 for $600 worth.

My GF had her armpits and bikini done, and it worked amazingly well, but took over a year to complete. And she says it was 100% worth it.

It was worth it for me because my pubes were kind of thick and I got razor bumps and the stubble was thick and nasty. It took 8 sessions to get it where I wanted at 120 per session. But now I dont have to worry bout the razor bumps or anything anymore. And it wasn't like pulling a bandaid off skin, it was VERY painful for me. More like getting a second degree burn. It helps if you apply lidocaine cream to your area first. I used Emla cream that I had from before. But the times that I didn't use it I was in so much pain. And with the cream there was pain but it was much less. Everyone has a different pain tolerance though.

cool and very helpful. I won't buy this groupon now but I'm going to keep my eye out for good deals and having it done.

I saw an infomercial for Tria Laser. It's a hand held laser you can use at home. The reviews on Amazon were pretty good. The downside is the $400 price and the laser head is small. But you can do it at home so it may be more convenient.

I read somewhere that the hair grows back eventually if you don't buy treatments every 5 years or so. Can someone tell me if this is true or not?

i just had my first session for full brazilian and legs with my dermatologist. so far, there is significant loss of hair but there is still hair. i have a naturally light brown skin so the lazer is different for a caucasian.

my dermatologist say that it is best to have at least 6 sessions and after the those sessions, 95% of hair is gone permanently. i dont mind the 5%. it wouldn't be much anyway.

if i were you, i would seek a dermatologist because they know whats best for your skin tone.

YAY-- I just started Laser (Bikini & other parts) It's relatively painless and it DOES work. The number of sessions you will need will depend of the type of hair you have

Absolutely not, I didnt have redness or any type of irritation at all. My bikini line felt a little sore a few hours later, but it wasn't anything to serious, It was from my jean shorts rubbing against it.

How many sessions have you had? I know the bikini line takes forever, I'm hoping to be finished after 6-8 sessions

I got laser done on my underarms and I LOVE it. Granted I have only had one session but even after that the area has sooooo much less hair there (over the last 3 weeks it's dissappeared). The place I'm having it done was through a groupon, they gave me 6 sessions recommending you wait 4-6 weeks in between treatments. The laser just felt warm while they were going over the area and the tech told me that if it felt HOT to let her know because that was bad. Only once did it do that and I told her and she adjusted. I believe the laser she uses is a Soma? Anyway if another point comes along that I can get a brazilian for cheap I will soooo be doing this! Even after just one treatment the loss of hair and thinness of the remaining hair is lovely.

BTW I Have somewhat dark brown hair and pale skin (not ghost but I'm white ok? lol) so I guess I'm almost a prime candidate.

there is a fucking spate of laser hair removal services being offered via groupon and twongo and like sites.

I think I'm going to buy one, and then try to keep an eye out for the next groupon/twongo and then go to that place.

I know sometimes the quality differs so I'm slightly worried about that, but I'm excited to at least start on my bikini line and then move on to my underarms and just keep knocking the areas out one by one. I'm tired of shaving my ladybits.

Ive bought three seperate groupns for laser hair removal, paid, 450 total for what would have cost 3k, i have only done my underarms and going to start my bikini next. BEST decision ever. Not only were my results amazing, the deal was unbeatable, even cheaper than shaving in the long run with the expensive razors i had to use. Only wish i tried it sooner! (Of the two clinics i've seen so far through groupon, they have been great, check yelp for reviews on the salon before you buy!)
