I don't know if you remember but last time I was seeking an XL BA I found Dr. Foster in Lake Tahoe, the dude who uses expanders. You were wary of him because he said he would add more saline weekly and only 50-200ccs of it at a time(and he would charge $225 each time). You said that reopening the wound weekly was not safe and that 200cc max refills was pointlessly minuscule(and that you were given a 30% increase of volume with each of your refills). I revisited his site and apparently he doesn't refill by reopening the incision....he does it through injection. What do you think of this(from his site):
The first operation involves removing the previous breast implants, enlarging the pockets, and placing the breast expanders. The expanders are then filled to the same size as the previous implants. It requires about a month of healing time before the incision is firm enough to begin stretching the skin. Thereafter, saline injections are administered through a numb spot on the skin. A small drop of Novocain is injected at first. The injections go into a leak-proof valve on the front of the expander that allows for 100 to 200 cc of injections every week. The surgeon needs to take care not to fill it more than the tissues can withstand. Excessive pressure can lead to a collapse of the blood vessels around the expander, causing interference with the healing process and making the patient susceptible to infection. Therefore, it is not advisable to expand more than 200 cc a week on any patient, and in some patients the limit may even be only 50 to 100 cc a week.
Does it still sound fishy? The bold part confuses me....why does the initial set have to be the same size as the implants being replaced?? I have never heard of that before in my life. Is he being purely mercenary? I mean, increasing size in one surgery is obviously very common, how else do women all over the world upgrade their implants?? (I wish it would work out with this doctor since he's located in my future state but it ain't worth it if he's a quack!!)
