Default High CPU with webcam use makes my cam feed freeze up.

Any troubleshooting advice to make my cpu lower while camming? It goes up to 100% at times. Lately, custies have been telling me my cam feed is slow. The feed gets worse during pvt and occasionally will give my viewers errors and kick them out of the room. That also happened to me once where I got an error and got kicked out of free chat. Any suggestions why this would suddenly affect things?

I use a PC, Windows 7, Firefox. I have turbo speed internet and pay for the largest upload speeds in my city.

i had a really difficult time with this, and i ended up deleting as much as i could off of my hard drive (or moving it to an external), running a registry cleaner & defragger, and using extra fans. it makes it at least bearable - i can't do much else while camming but it at least lets the cam run without freezing most of the time.

I added some ram to my computer and that really helped me with freezing up. Maybe your computer is just trying to do too many things. Do you have other programs running? Have you run a virus scan to see what's taking up all your CPU?

I just had this issue. I just hard restart my laptop before I cam and it shuts down any un-needed processes. Went from 100% usage to like 34%. Also, programs like Skype take up massive amounts of your usage.

Great advice here! I keep my laptop on my Belkin cooling station when I cam, and I keep a minimum of programs installed and running also. If you have unnecessary programs on your computer, I would recommend downloading a programs such as Revo uninstaller which also deletes leftover crap in the registry. Also, I would make sure all drivers installed are current. If none of these work, you could re install Windows which isn't that much of a hassle, but a last resort.

I have tried google chrome but for some reason it doesn't recognize any webcam attachments. Not even my internal webcam won't work with google chrome. Only firefox. I know I don't have any virus' on this computer either. I have always had awesome antivirus programs and I know there isn't a virus/spyware. However, I do download a lot of music and movies so my hard drive has been getting full lately. I still have 98 gb of free disk space. I don't know how to stop programs from running if that's the case. I don't use skype or anything. I always make sure SM is the only thing running on my computer when I work. I know I probably have unnecessary programs running but not sure how to delete them or which ones to stop. I'll try and figure out. Thanks.

    CTRL - ALT - DEL

Go to "processes" and you can see which programs are running and taking up too much space, and you can close them from there.

What's the exact processor you are using?
