Is Cabaret a gown club? or what's the look? I've been dancing for only a couple months, are they open to newbies? Any info to prep for an audition is very much appreciated! Thanks!

Our club is mainly a gown club, but Saturday's are short dress, while Wednesday's are lingerie-like victoria's secret, lacy, stockings, bras, boy shorts, etc. I run a very loose schedule since I was a dancer for 8 years,I know you'll only make money when you feel good,so I only want you when you're feel in it. You tell me when you are working each week. If you can't make a shift just text or call me. I just need to know a ballpark number of hoe many ladies I'll have. If you want to come on a nite you're not on the list it's no prob. But if you plan on coming in after 9,do get in touch so I can give heads up if we have enough girls(not a problem at the moment!)

I look forward to meeting and auditioning any lovely lady out there

Auditions are quick, but they are on stage-not a main stage tho. Half a song to see your body and confidence. Smile,be seductive-mom will be the person to escort you from the dressing rm to stage and back. Word of advice, don't be drunk for your audition

    Hi, House Mama Kelly!
I have a question regarding wardrobe: I'm a newbie to stripping, so if I don't have good heels or a nice gown, is there any shop connected to the club that'll let me use/work off an outfit on my first night? I know it's a stretch, but I've heard of this being the case at some clubs.

This was tens cabaret, but that company was dissolved into a new company, hence no worries with our checks anymore, for over a year. We are in the same place and have many of the same good people here, but VIP hosts and some mamagement have been changed for the better. We are not affiliated w anyother club.

As for the newbie question,I sell dresses, thongs and assesories-my dresses range from$80-$140,thongs$15. As for shoes,NYC is a big store, you must find that for yourself. Look for something less "strippery" than you think, comfort is very important when you're dancing,so practice in new shoes, even walk around at home in socks an a new pair to break them in before
working. Cabaret hates traditional clear platformed shoes,a platform is great, but the clear stuff is a pet peeve

    Good luck ladies

What's the tattoo policy here? Do you have to cover tattoos like in most NYC clubs?

As long as the tatoo isn't a name or face of a person, a few or one pretty larger one isn't an issue. As far as covering it up,we like body makeup less as it tends to rub off anyway

    Good luck

Can you post pics of preferred shoes?

You know platforms are much, much, much(!) more comfortable to be in for 8-hour shifts and more comfortable to dance in. The practical aspect of clear shoes is that they match with everything.

I'm curious to see which shoes are ok in your club. I'm even more curious to see which shoes are considered ideal.

platforms are more than okay at cabaret! its just the clear ones the owner hates. i showed him a pic of a pair of lucite prada heels and he said if a girl wants to work in a $3000 pair of prada shoes,he'd deal with it. while the club loves to see real girl heels, ones you'd wear to a regular club, traditional dancer platforms are completely acceptable, just as long as they aren't clear

    Kelly,

Are you saying that you wouldn't hire anyone who wears clear heels? I like them and find it hard to wear black or red. I'll wear pink, but that is a freak day. I want to start dancing a few days a week for sanity. Do I need to invest in some opaque heels? I have photos in the boob thread. Thanks! I sound like a complete moron here. ...

SN I think shes trying to imply that you need to dance in a "classy" shoe that you may be able to find in a regular womans shoe store for example a store like Aldo. I notice a lot of manhattan strippers wear this type of shoe thats sexy but not the typical stripper wear. Kelly I would like to begin dancing and I purchased 6 inch clear heels and have been practicing in those for the audition. Can I come to your club an audition in clear heels or will you not even consider a woman who wears these?

So $3000 clear platforms are ok.

    Good to know.

I'm glad other stripper heels are allowed because....

I worked in an NYC club where they insisted that we wear civilian heels. After a month of 8 hour shifts, working 3-4 days a week, I got wicked bad nerve damage in my toes. Not to mention fasciitis (inflammation of the tendon on the sole of the foot) and the angle of my toes got somewhat deformed. The nerve damage (which consisted of numbness, spasms, and extreme pain) took 2-and-a-half years to correct. The fasciitis took about just as much time but still springs up once in a while. The toe angle issue is sadly permanent. It sucks. My feet are cute... but they were cuter before. After leaving that club and going back to 7" stripper heels I have suffered no ill effects at all.

But I look back and think about that time of night when the club would close, and I would sit on the dressing room floor, in my gown, crying, desperately rubbing my feet to get rid of the shooting blasts of pain and odd waves of cold numbness.

Besides the horrible physical consequences of dancing in civilian shoes, there were aesthetic issues too. My stage performances suffered because the shoes didn't grip my foot as well. My range of dance moves was limited. Also, shorter heels made me look shorter, heavier and made me feel less confident.

And all this awful stuff happened because some guy... that has no idea about how uncomfortable high heels can be... has a pet peeve against a stripper-looking shoe. Newsflash management! You're running a strip club!!!

I wish managers would REALIZE that strippers wear clears for practical reasons... they match any outfit, the clear upper part sticks to the foot (so we don't end up like cinderella or accidentally toss a shoe off and poke a guy in the eye) and they are designed to keep a girl comfortable for hours and hours and hours of dancing. The idea is to look invisibly tall, to be *so* comfortable that you don't think about shoes even once during a shift, and to create a sexy, upright body angle/posture.

P.S. I have learned that customers don't care what kind of shoes a stripper wears. Unless they have some specific fetish. And then, they are always welcome to buy me a pair of the kind of shoe they fancy. I wear a size 6... 36 in Euro designers!

every time i see a dancer dancing in louboutins, i think of that quote where he says something like, these shoes weren't really made for walking.

    and everything sophia said.

Clear tops are good for me bc they stretch enough for my wide feet and bunion. My feet tend to swell at the end of the night.

Yeah, exactly!I worked at Scores east a few years ago and they didn't allow platforms or shoes that were "stripperish",at least back then.Wow!The pain was tremendous!Quality of work definitely sufferred because of the pain. Also,I remember, the A/C was so high that my feet and hands went numb from the cold.
