    Default Help! Cant pole dance!

hi everyone! so i have a problem. i pretty much can do a little floor work. i know how to tease customers and what not (thanks to this site) but i cannot for the life of me do ANYTHING with the pole. Keep in mind i have taken some pole classes and each of them was a disaster! even the teacher said it looked painful when i was trying!(i kept falling off, spinning to fast, hitting my ankles, being an idiot) and i was thinking of going to my first audition in the next few weeks but i wonder.....does the pole tricks really matter? i feel like i dont even wanna try when i get up there because i know something will happen. and im the type of person that if something embarrasing happens its kind of hard for me to get back up and keep going. i usually bust out laughing...or crying....help!

Pole tricks are not that important. I auditioned without knowing any. There are plenty of gilrs who are amazing on the pole, but choose not to do pole tricks during their stage shows because it doesn't earn them any extra $$$.

Moving slowly and sensually and connecting with your audience via eye contact/smiling are much more important.

    I second what Natalllia said.
Poletricks do not really matter at all. I like doing pole work, and I have a pole at home, but I hardly do any tricks at work. I find I make more money being up close and personal via floorwork, and yes smiling and eye contact is so so important. Sometimes I feel awkward making eye contact, so I just look at the spot in between their eyes.

The only time I really do pole tricks is as a filler, when there's not a lot of customers at my stage for me to focus in on.

You'll make more money with that teasing and floor work (read: eye contact and not looking bored) than with the largest arsenal of pole tricks. If you can create an intimate moment with a customer from the stage, you've pretty much got him for dances. Pole tricks aren't conducive to creating that.

The girls are right, pole dancing has almost zero to do with your money. Men generally want to be seduced and that is where the money comes in. That being said and independent of the selling dances, everyone loves a good pole show. Most larger cities offer pole dancing classes that will teach you the basics which you can later add to once you are working at the club. They can at least give you the confidence and foundation with which you will feel comfy going on stage not looking completely green. Pole tricks are awesome but nobody expects them of you, certainly not hiring managers. They want you to be pretty and in good shape, the rest is just a bonus.

I can do them, I just don't. I'm much more a floor work kinda girl. Always have been. Don't beat yourself up over it if you can't do them. They're not vital.

Pole tricks really don't matter. All you have to do is be sexy and look like you are enjoying yourself=)

This is a great answer! I am finishing up a basic pole-dancing course next week - what I learned so far has been awesome - both on the pole and some of the floor work stuff we covered. I feel a great deal more confident and I got physically stronger, toned and more flexible too. I definitely love pole-dancing, and I'm going to be saving up to buy my own pole to use at home and get even better at it but I don't think I'll be focusing on pole-tricks to make money at the SC when I start dancing. As I get used to being a stripper and dancing, I'll naturally incorporate what I learned, of course, but pole-tricks won't be the be-all and end-all of dancing for me.

I've only been at it a few weeks now, and know for certain what the other ladies posted is pure truth. The chicks who get tipped the most during stage performances do virtually no pole work (minus extremely basic moves), but spend almost all of their time on the floor (at my current club).

Me and this one chick started around the same time & she knows how to do these elaborate pole moves. However, she wasn't getting tipped AT ALL until she got nude and started working it on the floor. At the club I'm at, guys come to see naked ass and cooch; if you aren't showing that they don't care about anything else LOL. I notice females are way more interested in the pole work vs the men, too!

I take pole classes, but honestly, a lot of stuff is learned on the job from what I'm experiencing personally so far (also scope out YouTube for some good tutorials). If you are confident & sexy, you can make the most basic moves/stretches look erotic as ever and fare off just fine.

I learned some basic pole tricks right after I started dancing, because I wanted something to "do" onstage...I felt like I ran out of moves after like one song. But I pretty much stopped doing them because really, you can put on just, if not more sexy of a show without them, AND then you're not all gross and sweaty after your show from so much exertion, and you can go right back to hustling guys for dances. And the best time to hustle guys for dances is right after your stage show.

Really? Floorwork seems to be pretty easy. Just being sexy and moving your body sensually. I just try to feel the music and play song that makes me think of sex so its easier.

People who start off with pole often have a hard time flowing on the floor and vice versa - at least from what I've seen. Like everyone else has said, don't worry about the pole. There are some clubs that don't even have poles, so it's not essential to a good performance. I have my own pole too and know how to do some tricks, but I never did them at work. That pole was nasty and greasy, it never seemed to earn other girls extra money, plus, unless you know some amazing moves, all the girls seem to do the exact same tricks so it gets boring to watch - I think that's why there's no extra money in it. The one girl who looked so beautiful doing unique tricks rarely got tipped on stage.... it was the girls who could jump into the splits or hit their heels obnoxiously against the stage that always seemed to get attention... stupid customers... lol

If you want to get better, maybe come in before the club opens a couple days a week and practice then while they're setting up the bar or something. Find a friendly fellow stripper to teach you, or if you can't, watch some videos. Don't try to do anything overly complicated or that requires significant strength until you get some basic moves down. Nothing is sexy about trying to pull of a complicated trick and falling on your face.
