Is it going to be online or in person at a site like grocery store or a benefit dinner?

bake sale
raffle tickets (like a 50/50 draw or for a prize that you can get donated)
selling chocolates, cookies, cheese, etc.
putting on an event (like a talent show)
selling artwork
auction, silent auction, penny table
those are just a few ideas off the top of my head ... trying to think how I have seen fundraising done before

Can you share what you're raising funds for and what your goal is?

Fund raising event usually have a target demographic, for whom or what are you raising funds?
Little League a bake sale.
A new Museum wing then a charity auction.

My mom, she was diagnosed with breast cancer a few days ago.
Thanks for the replies.![]()

Hershey's has fundraising kits.

I hope everything turns out okay for your mom.

Do you want to do it primarily online or in your community/ on foot? I was thinking of a Botox party if you know a physician or nurse who would donate their services for the afternoon. You can get local artists to donate art pieces or fashions then auction them. I wish I knew more about fundraising to be more helpful. Would your club manager consider having an event and donating the proceeds or do you have a friend who DJs or manages another spot and can give you a night? You can have a benefit for breast cancer survivors in general with some backing from the American Cancer Society or other local organizations.

I have some experience with this. What about a golf tournament. It's a lot of work but the pay off is huge. I would contact the American Cancer Society. Also if golf isn't your thing here are some idea's..

Sorry to hear about your mom, Vyanka.
How much money do you need to raise?
There are many ways to raise a little bit of money, but if you need a LOT of money, you really have to plan a big event and probably work with an existing charity or start a new one. If you work with an existing charity, you can raise a lot more money, but will have to share the proceeds with the charity.
Bikini car wash is always a big hit.
In my fraternity, selling chocolate roses (we made them with rose molds) and auctioning ourselves for dates were the biggest hit. Auctioning dancers might give the wrong idea, but maybe you can get guys to volunteer and auction them off. Here are some ideas for this: http://www.ehow.com/how_2056702_host...e-auction.html

PS, hopes and prayers for you and your mom!

Thanks for the rsponses all.I'm going to look at these links over the wknd.
Jack, IDK how much it is yet. Good thing is 80% of it is being covered but it's probably going to be real expensive either way. Five digit range maybe? I want to plan this ahead. I just don't want my parents to worry about money. I have enough family members too that will help. It's a good thing I have a gigantic family.
Optimist. Anything. Doesn't matter. I know my family members are going to gather a trip to AC and sell tickets for that. I have a cousin in PR selling food for the expense as well. I came up with the idea of making a website and free business cards with the info on it(thinking like a strippah). On the account, I want a percentage to go to cancer research as well.
As for mom, she is going to be fine. It was caught in time & it's going to be an easy surgery as well. Thank you.
ETA - Forgot I know a club promoter too. I can work something with him also.

Yeah, I forgot we also did this in the frat: find a local bar or nightclub that is not doing very well or pick a slow night and sponsor a theme party. We would print and pass out fliers and invite everyone on campus. You collect a cover charge and split the proceeds with the bar.
Make it fun: (i) rent a few cages or stripper poles and have some sexy go-go-dancers; (ii) have competitions: wet T-shirt competition, pole dancing, hotdog eating contest, etc. (get local businesses to donate prizes); (iii) hold an auction auctioning guys for dates. (I wish you could auction dancers for dates, but that might give people the wrong idea.) Look at the link I gave you on this, it has many good suggestions.

Vyanka: best of luck with your mom. My suggestion also would be try to educate your self as much as possible about the disease and different alternative treatment. It will in a way also help you cope.
