Default Help!?!? trouble getting day job!

Since recently relocating I quit danceing and decided to get a day job. However other than some fast food jobs when I was sixteen or seventeen danceing is my only job experience. Is their anyone who is going threw the same thing or has some advice on how to get a day job or even filling out a resume? I would appreciate anything anyone has to offer.

Go to your local employment agencies and find out about doing temp work - that is a good way to start building some experience for working in an office environment. They can also give you the best advice. Also, try your community college and take some courses that can help you - typing, phone operator, etc.

I signed with 5 different temp agencies a while back and never got a call from any of them. A friend of mine had the same problem and recently moved to a different state because of it. Unfortunately, like many, she too needed an income so badly that after not hearing from the agencies for weeks, she had to return to dancing. OMG, this job market is beyond awful!!

It is tough for sure! Keep trying though - don't give up. Go back to see them again - this will show you're really serious. If you then don't hear anything back from them, keep calling weekly. You have to keep on it.

Make sure that you dress very appropriately when going to employment agencies:

No heavy make-up, stilettos or suggestive clothing. A tailored knee-length skirt and a white blouse (don't go flashing those boobies!) is a good start. Keep the jewelry very low-key, french manicure, clean nicely styled hair. First impressions really do count.

Funny story, my bf originally said that if I started dancing again he would break up with me. Now after finding out how hard a job can be to get, and one car wreck later he says he would only be mad at me for a little while lol. I don't know why he thought it would be so easy to find a job no matter how big the city.

    Guys. *sigh*

Hope it all works out for you, dancing or not.

I have a ton of experience, qualifications and skills and even I have trouble finding a decent "regular" job. Lots of people are in the same boat.

My sympathies - i have lots of qualifications and professional experience behind me but i can't find a full time job at the moment so i'm dragging my 35 year old ass out of retirement (thank heavens i look 12 years younger) to start stripping again. The best advice i can give you is to stay positive and active - if you sit at home getting down about your situation that isn't going to help you at all. So chin up and do what you have to do to pay the bills.
