I guess its more important for you to have a pair of shoes than keep thousands of kids alive...........but hey....i guess that just tells us what kind of person you are.....

right? it's funny that 99% of people who complain that celebrities don't donate enough to charity haven't donated a single dollar themselves. most celebs donate hundreds of thousands or even MILLIONS to charities. that's the equivalent of the average person donating $1,000 every year to charity and how many people do YOU know do that?

the local coffee shop I go to had a collection jar for the tsunami relief and last time I went there was probably about 10 bucks in change there yet people will pay $4 for a coffee?

so yeah keep patting yourselves on the back for the $0.32 cents you drop in those collection jars and pointing your fingers at celebs.

In case you didn't read I said more than half, and apology accepted ... I know its hard to see the whole point.
and xGigi you still don't see the point. You guys are just seeing a small picture of the whole frame. Anyways, what I said is what I think and what psychologist, economist experts have said before, Its nothing new and you are most welcome to disagree.

ACTUALLY... Most of that... I made about YOU. Not me.
    LTR, plz.

Second of all, you need to do some research because you are talking because you are just saying the first thing that comes to your mind. What shoes??? do you know that it only cost 3 dollar to make nike shoes in china?? Do you know that designers buy a lot of their merchandise from china?? and do you know how much we pay for that?? I guess you don't
So I should go and do research to prove YOUR point because you're unable to provide anything to back up your statements?

Third, obviously people need to buy clothes duh! Im not saying never to buy.
But... that's what those people were doing. And you claim it's wrong. So what is okay? Are celebs only allowed to buy clothing in the price range that you approve of?

Fourth, half you said its absurd, because you don't know me, my life its not in public like kim or other celebrities.
I didn't SAY anything about you. I asked you questions.
Which, btw, you didn't answer... so I'm going to assume that you can't honestly say YES to any of what I asked. So clearly you're not living as cheaply as possible and not donating anything you can to charity. So you're just as selfish as anyone else.

Because I actually do some research I know how to live a life with little money and be happy
According to you, money can't buy happiness anyway. So the two are unrelated and you're just fumbling for 'brownie points'.

I just didn't want to say this but more than half of the money I made goes to charity.
Yeah? Well I donate 100% of my income to charity. Oh hey, look at that. It's really easy to make shit up on the internet with no proof.
You claiming to donate doesn't prove anything.
    PROOF. SRSLY.

Anyways if it makes you happy to fight and justify for our beloved capitalist system
If it makes me happy to fight for the idea that some random chick can't dictate how everyone else in the world spends their money? Gladly.

because I see a lack of knowledge in what you said.
Because I asked you for proof? Because I asked you if you lived this lifestyle you wish to force upon other people? Because I don't think that people having freedom to choose what they do with their own income is wrong? Please. I can back up what I say. I can provide links to everything I've claimed.
If making factual statements and questioning you and requesting you back up your bullshit shows a lack of knowledge... then I guess I'm guilty.
Personally... I think making wild claims with no ability to back anything up other than to babble and make more wild claims shows a lack of knowledge.

You seem to like arguing this point... so here's a hint that will help in the future.
PROOF: when someone asks for it... provide it instead of continuing to babble. Otherwise you're basically admitting that you're just talking out of your ass and making shit up.

When you say OMG SHOES ARE MADE IN SWEATSHOPS.
and someone says "What shoes? (because no one was talking about shoes.) Try linking an article (with sources) about some company getting caught having their shit made in sweatshops.
If you're going to claim you donated XX amount of income to charity... go scan some fuckin' paperwork... because otherwise you're just pulling numbers out of the air.

All you've managed to prove here is that you have an opinion. As far as I'm concerned... nothing you've said is factual... just the ramblings of an angry person who hates freedom and people having the ability to CHOOSE.

hahah well you guys just made me laugh. Like I said before that is what I think, I just gave my opinion, like I said before you are most welcome to disagree. I did answer your question with one sentence, but I guess you didn't understand it. And that's okay because I don't need to prove you anything. If you don't like it then don't like it, I accept your opinion and you can live your life however you want. I'm not trying to change anybody. I just like to create theories on how this world can be a better place, base on actual books I read and information I look for. I just made an opinion and you when crazy, damn. and the sad part is that I understand your point, but you dont understand mine because you cannot look pass" I have to be right" I don't care if you think I'm right or wrong, but it seems that is so important to you to be right, does it make you happy to be always right ?? I have my mind open to news ideas, if somebody wants to tell me about their ideas I would listen to that person and share my idea, if they are not the same, Okay fine I'll live with it, but it seem that you can't. You went crazy because supposedly I'm criticizing the way people live, aren't you doing the same to me then??? Then again I read what you said and I don't find a point. This is the last post Im gonna make trying to "explain" to you, because I made my point and I'm not interested in you believing me. Have a nice day!

I am now confused. Anyway, when talking about a truly giving artist, then look no further than Harry Chapin. I know many of you have no idea who he is because he's before your time (mine too really) but this guy accomplished a lot.

One report quotes his widow saying soon after his death — "only with slight exaggeration" — that "Harry was supporting 17 relatives, 14 associations, seven foundations and 82 charities. Harry wasn't interested in saving money. He always said, 'Money is for people,' so he gave it away." Despite his success as a musician, he left little money and it was difficult to maintain the causes for which he raised more than $3 million in the last six years of his life.

This was a guy who made millions from his songs and several were huge hits, including Cat's In The Cradle which is still played often on classic stations. He died on the way to some charity and he basically died penniless because he was spending so much on charities. He also has a foundation named after him and an award.

I'm not a fan of his but to me this is someone who really did a lot of good. While some of these celebs may do good, I'm sure not all of them are that generous. In fact, in general rich people are less generous than others. The Walton family (the owners of Wal-Mart)are billionaires but most of the money they donate each year goes to political causes. I give money to charity myself and the more successful I am the more I give. I mostly give to animal right or medical issues.

^^^I know about him and he has a big heart, he doesn't only give money to charities but also sets a good example the way he lived his life.

You haven't made your point. You've babbled a bunch of bullshit and been unable to back any of it up. LMAO

You can try to blame it on my lack of "understanding". I understand what you're trying to say just fine. I want PROOF.
You have none... so you try and accuse me of lacking knowledge to bullshit your way out of admitting you can't prove a single thing you've said.
It's really kind of sad, to be honest.

does it make you happy to be always right ??
Yes. I rather enjoy not being a moron.

I haven't "gone crazy on you" I've calmly replied to your posts asking you repeatedly for factual information to back up your statements... which you've repeatedly failed to provide. Instead of FACT, you just make up more bullshit.
I'm not criticizing the way you live. I criticized you for being a hypocrite.
And you aren't "supposedly" criticizing the way people live. You ARE criticizing the way people choose to spend their money.

Luv me some Sargey-wargy! I like this little mini show, (just a few minutes long, in between programming) on public tv where a guy talks about the planets visable, meteor showers, etc. At the end, he's sitting on a fake planet..so cool.

According to an AP story via USA Today, Americans gave nearly $300 billion to charity in 2009, setting a record that topped the previous record in 2008 Total American donations last year amount to an estimated $295.02 billion, which is a 1% increase over the 2008 amount ($283.05 billion) when adjusted for inflation. Of the 2009 amount, individuals accounted for 75.6%, or $223.03 billion. Not impressed? Consider it from an alternative perspective, the percentage of GDP given to charity. In this case, the U.S. more than doubles the second place country, Britain. The U.S. ranked first at 1.7%, Britain was second with 0.73%, Germany was third with 0.71%.

Those damn greedy capitalist countries......causing blindness...........and by the way.............also responsible for about 95% of the worlds charitable aid.

^^^That has nothing to do with my point. I'm not critizicing them donating or how much money they donate, What you said is obvious and still you fail to understand my point. I'm talking about the effect of celebrities on society.
You can read some topics about it, and when it comes to capitalistm you can also watch the movie "capitalism a love story"
