I don't know how much weight you should lose, but I would suggest doing some exercises to tone your mid section.

well....let me jump in on this. I am a nutrionist by trade. Personal trainer as well.

There is no such thing as toning fat. So all the suggestions about toning your midsection are incorrect. You must lose the stored body fat, which creates the appearance around your waist as it is now. You can build muscle, but it will make you appear larger if the subcutaneous fat still lies on top. I always have my clients reach a certain percentage before we get into weights, I make sure their nutrtion is spot on first.

I can write you a basic meal plan to follow. No worries. If you follow these nutritionally sound guide lines, you'll lose up to 10 lbs in the first 2 wks. Then about 2-3 each week after the initial loss. If you are 5'4 you need to be no larger than 120, tops.

Unless that weight is comprised of muscle mass...which would require a minimal of 3 days a week of lifting. A persons weight is divided into 3 categories....80% nutrition/10% exercise/10% genetics.

There are no gimmicks in nutrition. Fueling your body is a science. 80% of what is in a grocery store isn't food. You have to adopt several new habits about water/portions/foods that unlock other foods natural powers. Send me a msg if you wish to learn more. It really is just common sense, but this food culture we have in the US had made it seem like rocket science to have a well bal. diet. It is a science lololololol....just not as hard as most think.

I'd tell you to lose 15 to 20 pounds and come back, because you look like you are well endowed up top and your skin tone looks good and especially if you have a pretty face ... This is simply the reality of the biz ... you've already got some good qualities, so it's just a matter of working out and getting into shape.

You will not get hired at any of the good clubs looking like you do. I've worked with a lot of Seattle girls over the years and it sounds like only top tier girls consistently make money there and house fees are high there. And you will most likely have a hard time making money at the 2nd rate clubs if you can get in those at all. If you really want to be a professional dancer, you must workout at least 5 days a week.

I recommend the Bodyrocker.tv workout with an additional, difficult 10 minute ab workout and additional one hour of cardio 5 days a week. Map out 2 hours per day for a serious workout! They say it's good to take a break and not workout every day. If you cant do Bodyrockers, at least some kind of serious 1 1/2 hour per day cardio and serious ab conditoning at least 5 days per week and you'll be looking pretty good in about a month or two! It's hard work, but worth it! I can barely do some of the stuff she does and I am in pretty good shape. I'm getting there though! Check it out: http://www.bodyrock.tv/category/bodyrockers/

If you look like the Bodyrocker girl, you could get hired anywhere and will be able to compete with anyone, then it becomes a matter of sales technique.

OMG POLLYWOGG... I love love love bodyrock!

I recently reached my goal weight.... what really helped me aside from serious exercise was intense portion control. I never realized how much I was really eating until I cut back and started really listening to my body's signals. Also, try drinking water throughout the day; it helps to fill you up without calories and really helps clean out your system and keep you super hydrated and keep your skin looking fabulous. Make sure you get enough rest as well because lack of sleep can result in poor diet choices... at least it can for me.

FYI though... many clubs in Seattle area may just hire you even if you haven't lost all the weight you need to. It's really bad out in Washington and a lot of clubs will hire about anybody because then they make more money. They could care less about your looks.

    Good luck!

30 pounds might be good for you, but first shoot for 20, and get toned! Then if you think you can compete try it out and see. If you want some heads up on clubs to try outside of Seattle, be sure to check out Montana, Alaska, Canada and Guam and possibly Portland in the search here for dancer reports and inquiries from girls there. Feel free to contact me directly. I love to help! It somehow makes all my years of experience more worthwhile.

Thanks for the heads up about Seattle, I wasn't completely sure about their standards for hiring, K Sweet ... yeah, I knew A LOT of girls who left to make money elsewhere and they left owing the clubs thousands of dollars in past due house fees... I always thought that was sick and twisted. I suppose it was kinda nice to let them keep coming in. If I owned a club, I'd open or buy one in a medium sized town without a lot of competition, if possible and bring in girls from Seattle and treat them like Queens LOL.

Congratulations Clementine! That Zuzanna definitely rocks doesn't she!

    You're 5'4" and just under 150.

I'd say 20 to start working, 35 to make good money.

Working as a 'larger' dancer is hard work, trust me. If you can take the time to shape up before you start, it will be well worth it.

Those boobs are amazing. You'll do well with those.

    Good luck girly!

Agreed, just none of the clubs in the downtown area. Likely a few of them out of downtown will though.

damn! bodyrocker background chick is hot as! want those abs!

but i digress... i'm in a similar-ish situation, i've been toning up and hauling my butt to the gym at least 4 times a week + eating healthier portions.
i'm 5'2, used to weigh about 61kgs (135lbs) and now i'm down to 56.5kgs (124).... would like to get to 54kgs (119) to be a little more comfortable dancing....

Any recommendations for clubs in general? (Not just ones that would hire me as is)

I will say it is worth it to go to the clubs and speak to management in person. What club works for one girl doesn't for another. The downtown clubs and the Lake City location are the ones with the most business; however I can not guarantee which clubs would hire you and/or be a good fit for you. The Deja Vu in Tacoma actually gets killer business and might be a good starting place for you. Their numbers actually knock out all the other clubs in the Seattle area. I know the manager that supervises Tacoma and he is GREAT guy to work for.

As far as clubs I would NOT recommend (which is actually easier to say):

Dancing Bare: It's in the top ten worst clubs I've seen in my ten years in the business.
Centerfolds: The manager is a douche.

What other clubs are downtown other than Showgirls?

The Deja Vu in Tacoma didn't give me an audition, they gave me paperwork and told me to come back when I get a license, so other Deja Vus may hire. Like I said, a lot of clubs are just hiring anyone. Though from what I've heard Showgirls can be a much harder ball game. Not a good place to start. Of course... where the hell is in Washington? Girls leave my club all the time with $20 in their pocket.

I make very good money, and am consistently a top earner, am 5'4", and weigh 140. You don't have to be below 120 at 5'4" to make consistently good money.

However, the other advice is very good. I would still recommend a loss of about 20 lbs to get hired at a nice club. Good luck!

That's good to know. Couple questions: LOL what have you heard about the centerfolds manager?
Do you mean the lake city dejavu when you say the lake city location? that's the closest club to me, about 20 mins. and if you have any inside info, i'd love to hear it as well
The Tacoma deja vu is an hour away. Do you think that'd be worth it?

    Thanks again, you're a doll

I don't think thei ssue is really about a number on the scale... Its about how you look and feel. I am toned and muscular, but I weigh in at 150 and I'm 5'5". My build is more athletic than most and my doctors have told me that the odds of me ever falling right into my height/weight bracket on his chart are slim... I'm physically fit and healthy, but I'll never weigh 120lbs without looking gaunt.

I'm healthy toned and run at least 6-8 miles a day... and I'm 150lbs and wear a size 6.
The more muscle you build the more fat you'll burn (even when sedentary!), however, muscle does weight more than fat.... I'd focus more on your BMI than your weight.

^Body Mass Index doesn't take into account frame size or muscle. At 5'5" and 150 your BMI is exactly 25, which is considered the starting point for someone who's overweight - but as you said yourself you wear a size 6 and are quite fit.

BMI is usually useless on strippers; we're too muscular.

The OP should focus on losing inches around her midsection and hips/bust more than anything.
