"These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc."
This article said it provides relief from viral infections, such as limiting herpes outbreaks, etc. I used to get a lot of cold sores (no genital herpes, thank god) and I'm on anti-viral medication but I'm thinking about taking some coconut oil every day now to help prevent cold sore outbreaks. I've heard it helps kick colds and other infections as well.
Since coconut oil is also anti fungal, I'm starting to use it on my toenails, which have toenail fungus, and it has been by far the best thing that has worked on my toenails so far.
I am prone to lots of yeast infections and I'm not sure why... I'm thinking I have candida overgrowth in my system. Does anybody know anything about this? Anyways, I'm going to start using coconut oil as lube and maybe that will help, since it's anti-fungal.
I got lice once from a tanning bed, and it was the only thing that really helped me get rid of it--lice hate that stuff, and the lice and the eggs slide right out with the lice comb.
It is also said to speed up metabolism.
Oh, all the reasons why I should start taking coconut oil orally... I'm just scared of the stomach pains of starting out.
Any suggestions to prevent the stomach pains? Or any other uses of coconut oil you'd like to add?

I can't even eat most ice creams now because they've replaced palm oil with coconut oil as an emulsifier. I also had to leave work Saturday night because one of my girls used it on her hands and gave me an aspirin, thus giving me a massive reaction. My reaction is almost always anaphylaxis, and it takes a minute amount. I can't let any of the girls really hug me or anything anymore.
and with a little sugar, exfoliates my skin like an angel :p
