Default What to do in DC with a SD?

What are good things to do as far as shopping and nightlife goes? I know he'll want to go to the Smithsonian and probably a few other things of that nature. We'll be there for the weekend, possibly longer. I've never been before but apparently he wants me to have a lot of input into what we do and I told him I'd ask my friends, lol :]

Also, as far as nightlife goes, I'm 20 so I can't get into over 21 clubs (obviously, lol) but was wondering if there was an upscale under 21 club that I wouldn't feel too awkward going to with my SD?

There are famous eateries going back 200 years that would be special.

The GFE and tour the National Mall.

Definately stroll through Georgetown! It's edgy, there are tons of cool shops and bars, and because it's a college town there are tons of young people in an area of the country that has deep history. Shopping here is phenomenal!

Smithsonian is actually several buildings. I'd recommend going to the Air and Space Museum (ASM) first, then go to other buildings. EVERYBODY loves the ASM. I would also go to the Lincoln Memorial, along with the other SW members' suggestions.

TON of things to do here.If staying in Gtown,go to the harbour definitely,Sequoia,Tony and Joes',Riverside grill.A lot of outdoor places.Live music.Go to Penn Quarter,Eastern Market, maybe Old Town in Virginia.Oh,Gtown is overpriced as far as shopping, but there are many stores. Also Chevy Chase for shopping, but kind of far.Go around Dupont/Logan (my neighbourhood),it's very progressive, tons of bars and restaurants.A lot of wine bars.Go to Ust.I can go on.Oh,in Gtown maybe go to Citronelle, french, one of the only 2 five star restaurants.

He knows all about the Smithsonian but I've never been so I feel a little clueless
I have heard that the Air& Space museum is really fun so I'm definitely going to check that out. Do you think the Lincoln Memorial would be better at night? I heard it's cooler at night, lol.

Thank-you for all of your advice! It's cool to hear from a local He would probably be up for live music and because I'm not 21 finding things that would be fun at night, but don't require me being of age are important to me. Is there any good jazz clubs that you know of or personally like? I know Gtown is overpriced but I'm probably not going to go too crazy, just some True Religion jeans and a new handbag (Marc Jacobs preferably, lol) is all I'm really looking for this trip, I think. Your neighbourhood sounds awesome! I will definitely look into Citronelle! I'm all for fine five star dining, lol.

Oops.didn't see the under 21 thing, but you should be OK,just without alcohol, although sometimes they don't check,it depends on the place,or they can stamp you.About jeans...there was a place denim bar, that has all kinds, but I think it's in VA,but georgetown has a lot of stores, although they've been changing a lot lately,closing/opening due to economy.

Also,if you like brunch,I would check out Bistro in Gtown, french,it does have unlimited champagne besides an awesome brunch menu, but you can get juice too.I'm there all the time, love the place. Also,Perry's in Adams Morgan, drag brunch, live performance.Adams Morgan has a lot of smaller bars, and a lot of live music.

    Let me see.....Jazz/blues...Blues alley in Gtown.930 club,logan/U st.Utopia,U st.If you go to U st,stop by Ben's Chili Bowl,historic DC place,Obama goes sometimes.

Also...when you get in,get the City Paper,it has a lot of great suggestions, lists and coupons, will be very helpful,it's free and on every corner, comes out on thursdays.

Oh,you can go check out the W,old Hotel Washington, rooftop, look at the White House.Or go to Four Seasons, newly remodeled. Can run into celebrities. There are 2 Ritz just in DC,2 more in VA.Oh,for shopping go to Pentagon City Mall,Ritz is right next door.

    You won't get bored!

Yeah, being under 21 is such a pain, especially because on our last trip we went to Atlanta and to do anything nightlife-wise you HAD to be 21. I kind of felt bad, but he didn't seem to mind at all even when I got embarrassingly rejected at the door of a club, lol. I'm probably just going to look around Georgetown.... I wonder if there's a Nordstrom or something like that? If not, I'm sure there are expensive brands like True Religion and 7For all man kind on Gtown.

Definitely going to check out Bistro, because knowing me I'll probably sleep in one day at least. Ha, you might even see me! Lol.

You have a lot of awesome suggestions, thanks so much :] I think we are only going for the weekend but we might stay that Monday and Tuesday so it'll be good to have a lot of extra ideas just in case.
