    Default Heartburn

Anyone have any reccomendations on foods or other natural cures? There's not much I can take for it right now. TIA.

i know you cant take nothing BUT NEXIUM is the shit!!!

I been suffering from it for over <well a lot of years>
best things to do are stay away from acid foods, oranges tomato that kinda thing also eat SLOWER you are inhaling air making things worse if u are fast eater.

as far as natural things its hit or miss depending on what you are like. try the usual stuff
if not get some prilosic or pepcid or alka selzter, or plain selzter water

I don't eat fast, and I've been very careful about my diet. Prilosec, pepcid, nexium and alkaseltzer are drugs I can't take which is why I said I can't take drugs, except some tums.

Thanks girls, I'll try the tea.

Chamomile helps. Apple cider vinegar pills.

Baking Soda - dissovle a table spoon in hot water. It'll make you burp for a bit, but then the heartburn recedes.

And the usual, avoiding triggering stuff, but I'm guessing you've already done that.

'Milk Of Magnesia' is wonderful for heartburn and indigestion. You should be able to get it from a drug store or pharmacy.....it's also has laxative effects...so beware.

It comes in a blue bottle.

Yeah no spicy foods, I've even cut out tomato sauce and OJ and stuff. I was drinking chamomille and lavendar tea. Maybe I'll try just straight chamomille.

    Thanks girls.

Bear in mind what you ate that triggered it.

I am allergic to dairy, that will do it for me. My brother can't even look at a glass of orange juice.

Caffeine also relaxes the sphincter at the top of the stomach.

For me Coffee and Sugar together without real food is a sure cause. No coffee and a donut. It is either/or unless it is part of a real breakfast.

I was just looking up what earthclinic had to say about heartburn and I was really interested in this:

" 01/19/2010: Jim from Lapeer, Michigan writes: "After reading your site and seeing all the feedback about apples helping with heartburn, I decided to take the test. I abruptly quit my OTC heartburn medicine, which I had been taking for many years. I started eating an apple when I felt heartburn coming on or before bedtime. Almost a week later I am happy to say I am heartburn free! I've struggled with both heartburn and acid reflux for many years and this is the best I have felt in some time! Thank you for your site and to the many readers who had given their feedback! I am going to tell everyone about this miracle for me!"

    Replies
02/19/2011: Ben from Chicago, Il replies: "Apples is also what I use for heartburn. They stamp heartburn out almost instantly for me. I also found that eating a pear can do just as well." "

Supposedly some people do well with apple cider vinegar but that makes things worse for my boyfriend. I'm going to try to keep an apple around because he, coincidentally, had a sleepless night last night from heartburn which I'm pretty sure was caused by a shake from sonic a couple hours before bed.

I'm pregnant. Simply eating triggers it....

I've spent the last five minutes reading more--
check out the mustard recommendations for heartburn and acid reflux. amazing!

Of course my boyfriend hates mustard but I bet I could get him to swallow that next time.

Congrats on your pregnancy! This is what I use: selzer water, if you don't like, try the flavored type, papaya tablets (from heath/vitamin store), taking walks, mint tea, or mints (sugarfree for me), chewing on a piece of natural licorice bark (not the candy). Good luck
