    Default over-stretched shoes

There's lots of advice on here about how to stretch out new shoes that are too tight, but does anyone have any methods for when the opposite is the problem? I have the typical clear plastic Pleasers ones, and they're stretched out more than they should be, just from wearing them so much I guess. I went from fastening them through the second-to-tightest hole in the strap, to the tightest one, and they've continued to get looser so now my feet are sliding in them a bit. Does anyone have any tips for making them unstretched?

It's probably time to buy a new pair. Have you lost weight recently? I've known several women that go down a shoe size as they are losing weight.

Keep them in your trunk on a hot summer day. They will then shrink when they cool down. This works great!

I was under the impression that the hairdryer technique was used to stretch them too, like when you buy new shoes.

I'll try the shoes-in-trunk thing and see how it goes, I guess probably I need a new pair soon anyway though. I've only had these ones for 2-3 months though, I definitely thought they'd last longer than that - my last two pairs lasted months and months

try putting a padded insert in the sole to push your foot up, making the shoe more snug.

That happens to me, too. I don't buy shoes with straps anymore. You can wrap garters around your shoe and ankle to keep it from sliding around.

    +1 on the inserts.

    +1 on the heating/cooling idea.

I have heated them up with a hair dryer and placed them outside (winter time) for a lil while. They certainly tightened up. Consider placing the warmed up shoes in the fridge.... (maybe in a CLEAR plastic bag).

Fair warning, though: Heating & cooling may cause the plastic to get a bit more brittle if you do it repeatedly.

Do you always buy Pleasers? I find each brand caters to a certain foot type. I prefer Ellie. They may not have as many styles as Pleaser, but I've had high postive feedback from most of my customers.

Thick socks and insole inserts will definitely help, but that's only if you want to wear socks

Can also take them apart and reposition the front strap and make a new hole in the ankle strap. It's a PITA to take them apart though, so buying a new pair will be easier. But if you want to save money and the shoe than this may be the way to go.
