    Default Quitting Drinking

Hey, so I was wondering if any of you have made the decision to stop drinking at work once and for all. I've been dancing for 1 1/2 years or so and the first half of my career I worked mostly day shift and never drank. However on the back half I've been working night shifts and drinking (sometimes a lot). It's become a habit and I feel like I can't do as well without it. I'm scared to talk to a customer without a drink now and I do well consistently when I do have a shot or two or three. I like to think of myself as one of the top earners, and I work hard at being good. Reading sales books, taking training courses and applying what I learn via trial and error. I've also learned that the best earners who have been in this industry for a long period of time don't drink. It's now down to this habit...
But this is becoming a problem. I loose track of my money, I have a harder time keeping my emotions in check, I've driven home drunk a few times and I can never work the next night because I'm hungover and sometimes embarrassed about the pervious night.
I realize this is a problem, and I'd like to hear some feedback from girls who have decided to stop drinking and how you overcame that obstacle. Especially the first few nights. I'm ready to make my good money sober. I guess I'm just a little nervous.

    Just do it.

Honestly though, it is tough. I just went through the same thing a few months ago. I was drinking every single night, both at work and at home. I was feeling gross, gaining weight, and got sick of having no energy all day. I just decided one day that enough was enough and quit drinking. I didn't want to totally quit forever, but at first I didn't drink at all for 2 weeks to clean out my system. I also started eating healthy again and working out more. I am seriously amazed by how much better I feel during the day now.

But the hard part is maintaining it. I allow myself to drink occasionally now, and will sometimes have 1 or 2 drinks at work again. I think the trick is to have a good reason to keep your drinking under control. I remind myself of how shitty I used to feel all the time, and how much better I look now that I've lost the few extra booze pounds.

Good luck and keep us updated.

I've done a few of the things you've listed when I was in a drunker stupor. The only way I could stop doing it was by drinking less. One to get into the mood, then an hour or two later another. If I'm there long enough, another and that's it. I've been able to control it so far, so I don't feel a need to stop. I don't even look at alcohol outside of any club.

I've been this way the last three years or so. I didn't drink the first 6 years I danced, then my dad died and I started traveling to big huge intiminating clubs all over the country and it's become were I definitely need a few drinks to not feel nervous. I wish I could have met you I worked your club monday and I definitely drank, the set up being so small and closed in made me very nervous( I feel more comfortable in bigger clubs) I can see how you feel and empathize too. I don't really have any advise but I am working on this too. The other night this guy said something very enlightening after he bought me a drink and I said what are you drinking and he said water ( he looked like a party animal type) So I was like you don't drink an he said I got sick and tired of feeling sick and tired and I thought is that ever true! Good luck I am working on it too!

I agree, and I've been reminding myself of all the reasons why I should stay sober. I went into work tonight and drank single small glass of wine to get started. I was able to get out there and talk to a few guys and it ended up being a pretty good start. It was weird seeing things in a non drunken state. It seemed more boring, dances seemed to drag on for much longer... and I ended up leaving two hours into my shift because I lost my motivation. Does this happen to any other sober dancer? I know I did okay in those two hours and I made my hourly average in both hours, I guess I just got scared that I wouldn't continue to do as well without drinking so I chickened out and left.... I'm more afraid of not being one of the consistent top earners than anything else.
Taking it one step at a time. Thought I'd put up a post on how it's going.

Doesn't every club have people that are drinking? Every club I've been to most the girls have been trashed.

^There are plenty of clubs that don't serve alcohol, don't allow girls to bring in liquor and ENFORCE the rules.

For what it is worth, all 100% nude clubs in the Minneapolis area are alcohol free. Topless clubs serve alcohol. It's a pretty easy rule to remember.

I had to quit drinking because of medical reasons, BUT I never drank at work. R-Love, it sounds like your main motivation for drinking is to keep from letting the more boring aspects in your job distract you. I ask this as a non-dancer, but is there a way you could put yourself in a "work" state of mind to get you through the boring parts of your job?

It does help with the bore factor... but it also helps with the mindset that I know I do very well every time I drink. Honestly, every single time I make a good amount of money. Even on a slow monday night.

Going into work again tonight. Giving it another go.
