    Default No Motivation!

I have had ZERO motivation to get to the gym these last few months. I'm losing tone and I can't stand it. I want to go. Everyday I plan to go, and then I sit around and do nothing. How do I get motivated again? I want to be healthy throughout the next few months, and I know it will be easier to lose the weight after too.... so someone please tell me how to make myself get up and go! I know I'll feel so much better too!

I actually miss the energy and motivation I had while pregnant....now I'm lazy, and just don't really have much time to do much. (Even when I'm on here, Kane's on my lap/in my arms..lol)

but towards the end, that's when I started losing motivation too.

but what if you did little workouts in your house?
Turn on some music, and dance around a little (that's what I did)

I know it's hard to stay motivated, especially while pregnant, but maybe if you started at home, just with some dancing, maybe some yoga...(whatever you're able to do), then maybe that will motivate you to do more. Like, go to the gym.

also, take advantage of being able to go where you want when you want. Soon, you'll be limited, so maybe thinking of that will help??

    Good luck momma. <3

Dr. Oz had a scenario on his TV show that the best way to stay motivated is (1) find a workout partner and (2) TRADE GYM/WORKOUT BAGS so you are obligated to bring your workout partner's stuff to the gym! That way you will be double motivated.

Ha that is funny, quite a good idea though.

It sounds really obvious but I find the best way to make sure I train is to just go without thinking it over; so get all my stuff ready the night before, and then just get up and go first thing in the day, without having the internal dialogue going back and forth between reasons to go, reasons not to go, why its OK if I skip it and do it tomorrow, and worst of all, picturing being there training and having to work hard and how I cant be bothered.

Sometimes I'm so unenthusiastic I have to drag myself out comforting myself by saying that I can still change my mind if I get there and don't feel like it. Usually by the time I arrive I'm thinking, "Ok lets get it over and done with" and do a short intense session which is more effective anyway.

Set yourself a smaller goal than going to the gym - just tell yourself every morning you wake up that you're going to at least take a walk around the block (or something similar). Every time you accomplish this small goal, you'll feel good about yourself and the motivation to do a little more each day will follow. Your body is going through all kinds of changes, so just go with the flow and don't stress out. You'll be fine.

I'm sure you look good now, just set the goals up for after you deliver. I see this woman pushing her baby up this hill every morning on my way to work & I think... hell yeah!

I'm trying. I've been trying to eat really healthy. Everyone keeps telling me that they can't believe I'm 6 1/2 mos so I'm taking that as a really good thing. I did walk today and honestly I do feel better so if I can keep it up I'll be really happy with myself. My sister is buying me a running stroller so I'll be able to run outside again come spring. I just don't want to feel lazy. I HATE that feeling.

Buy yourself a new workout outfit and just wear it around the house. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how sexy you are Make a new playlist to workout to. All this worked for me when I had a hard time getting out of the house. Getting ready to go and driving to the gym is actually the hardest part, but once you're there, you're there...gotta pump your rump now!

I don't know what the doc has told you but if you can walk do that. You are right around the corner at 61/2 months. I do remember a sexy pool table pic of you if I'm not mistaken & I'm sure you will be there soon.

I once read this quote, it's super cliche but very true: we live in a constant state of choice - you need to choose the life you want.

Once I start thinking about going to the gym, it's all over for me. I'll procrastinate and argue with myself about going. Don't think about it, just do. Breaking back in to routine is the real hard part, but once you start getting a little result, you won't stop!

Even just eating better and making better choices can lead to more good decisions. If I've had a particularly shitty day in terms of eating, normally I'd ask myself what the point of even going to the gym is anyway when really that is just more of a reason to go!

Overall I've found that buying new sneakers, workout clothes, or making a playlist are super motivating. For me, getting to the gym right when I wake up relaxes me to the point where it's done for the day and I don't have to worry about it. Best of luck, I know you'll do great with the SW ladies here in your corner!

I wouldn't mind this one bit after the baby is born honestly. I have a pic of myself pre-baby that I plan on hanging up on the mirror to motivate me to get back to that.

And now I think I will get my ass out the door. It's a perfect walking evening. Thanks everyone. I do appreciate all the responses.

Well today will be easy. I need to work off the anger. Maybe I should stay mad at him. It will have a fabulous effect on my body.

Do any of you keep journals? Like what you ate, how far you ran today, how many reps you did etc? I never have before bc I just never needed it, but I'm wondering if they're helpful?

I will have to try it then. A friend of mine also said it was super helpful when he was losing weight so if I get in the habit now in a few months when I do want to lose the weight maybe it'll be easier.

Can you try buying or downloading a few at-home workout dvds? That should get you in the mood. I personally love Piloxing, Zumba, and various Pilates dvds. Or maybe even try a yoga class? Then, when you feel your muscles aching the next day, you'll be more motivated to go to the gym. That's how I did it.

If memory serves, women who log their food and exercise lose significantly more weight than a woman who doesn't - statistically!
I say totally start logging if it keeps you on track. Sometimes I don't even realize how many calories I eat in one day. If anything seeing the results and hard work on paper keeps the motivation up!

You might enjoy the MyFitnessPal app on the iPhone, but even with that I still find myself reaching for a notebook!

I found listening to my body while I was preg was the best thing for me and my baby. If you're tired, then rest. If you have energy, find something to do.

Maybe you can try working out when you first wake up. That's the only way I used to get it done. Now that I'm a Mommy I have to schedule exercise into our day. Kinda depressing, but I look at myself in the mirror every day and that helps get my butt off the couch.

I gained 58 pds while preg. My son was 9pds 1oz when he was born. The rest was steak, ice cream, and whatever else I could shovel into my mouth. Thankfully I am back to my pre-preg even though my body has changed a bit. My more super flat tummy

Well, good luck with your work-out and your upcoming baby!! There is nothing in the world as beautiful as a baby!
