    Default The current year is:

Of course if the first choice is correct, then two years ago it was Twenty Oh Nine, like 100 years before that it was Nineteen Oh Nine.

    I say twenty eleven.

what I've always wondered is what do you call the decade between 2000 and 2009

like 1980-1989 is "the 80's" and 1990-1999 is "the 90's" sooo what do we call the first decade of the 2000s?

I was really hoping that would catch on, but it never did. I still plan to use it when referring to that decade: "Back in twenty-aught-six..."

But for this decade, I usally just say two-thousand-eleven. I don't like the sound of "twenty-eleven".

It honestly just depends on the context I'm saying it in. Like, if I'm just repeating the date, I say "twenty eleven." If I'm saying something like "It's 2011, for christ's sake!" I say two thousand eleven. I don't think one really sounds better than the other while in these number. Twenty oh Nine sounds odd... I never said that.
