    Default day-to-day BA

Had my surgery yesterday. I have 375cc's put in to make up for the cc loss of a 340cc. Don't remember much of yesterday other than feeling groggy, loopy and excited for having new boobies. My boyfriend has been taking care of me non-stop. He's incredible. He's got all of my medications on a schedule with alarms set on his cell phone. I love him <3

My worst pain so far was on the way home from the surgeons right after the operation yesterday.

The doc told my bf that the first words out of my mouth after waking up was "Whooo boobs!" hahaha.

Today,( the official 1st day post-op) went great. I slept awesomely despite waking up every few hours to take medications. My boyfriend set his alarms and woke me up for pills and water. Like I said, he's amazing and I love how much he does for me. I could NOT do this without him. I had a lot of energy and no pain, only minor discomfort. My first post-op appointment was at 10:30 this morning. Apparently I look great, and I was reminded to continue icing my breasts through the bandages. (good thing, cuz I forgot to do that.) I did feel really great today, I've had zero nausea from the pain meds, and walking was way easier than it was yesterday. After lunch (solid food, believe it or not) I was exhausted. Dunno why, but at noon I napped until about 4pm.

I've been taking my valium and percoset much less than recommended. I'm not in much pain at all, although I'm sure that taking them at bedtime makes everything easier. I wonder though if my lack of pain is because I had surgery yesterday. I've read that the 3-5 days can be the worst. Anyone else experience that?

Two things I've noticed: the top of my chest itches, right at the top of my breasts/implants, just two inches below my collar bones. I'm assuming it's the obvious result of stretching skin due to the implants. Is this a good assumption? I'm still numb, even near my ribs. My PS said that I may experience some pain on my ribs. I haven't yet, but he told me to expect it and that it's completely normal.

The other thing is sometimes when I move my arms, I hear this weird squeak or creak inside my breasts. From what I've read, it's just air and fluid trapped inside my breast tissue and that it will go away. I've also read that it could be the start of capsular contracture, but I'm sure it's too early to tell. Any advice on that would be much appreciated. I hope some of you ladies have experienced that same and could reassure my fears before I see my PS on Friday for another post-op.

Anyway, I feel amazing. I'm excited, and super happy. No sign of the "booby blues" yet, and I doubt I will feel sad or depressed. I admit I'm a little nervous that they will be too big, but I know that they are swelled and brand new. Time will tell!

Does anyone have any advice on how to ice my breasts? The bandages are ample enough to not need a towel, but I'm frustrated with having to move the icepacks around all the time and wondered if anyone had tips on how to make it easier.

Also..how should by bf bathe me without getting my bandages wet?

And please girls, ask me all your questions! I'll be checking frequently and writing my experiences every day.

Ummm I'm due in 12 days...are you doing the "wait to poopoo" or are you taking laxatives? I'm mortified at the thought of my boyfriend having to wipe my ass for me

Haha you made me giggle! It is true that painkillers can make you constipated.

Every so often, drink water mixed with Metamucil. The fiber will keep things running smoother. So far, I haven't had any problems with constipation.

And you shouldn't need to worry about having your boyfriend wiping yer butt for you because you'll be able to do it yourself; it feels awkward at first with the implants, but it's not uncomfortable or painful.

Today is officially Day 2 post-op.

The day of surgery I had a hard time taking in full, deep breaths. The pressure was really heavy on my chest, and I felt exactly like I just had two huge water balloons shoved inside my breasts.

Yesterday, the pain was barely there. The top of my chest itched from the stretching.

Today, there are no problems taking deep breaths, and the pressure is not bad at all. My chest feels heavier than it did before surgery, But duh, I have breasts now.
My breasts feel itchy from stretching. I want so bad to scratch them, but I just put ice on them instead. Today, the incisions (under my crease) hurt a bit. As they should of course, but it's annoying.

I still get up and walk really often. The PS told me walk every two hours to prevent blood clots in my legs. I recommend walking often because it just FEELS REALLY GOOD. The first few times sucked because I was so stiff and tired, but I really felt better afterward.

I never use my arms to push myself out of bed. I always let my bf lift me up. I'm surprised at the amount of things I shouldn't do with my arms. Opening the fridge, any doors in the house, the car door, putting on my seatbelt, rolling over in bed, pushing myself up off of a chair or out of the car. You'll figure out what you should and shouldn't do based on how it feels.

Boyfriend is making me lay in bed all day because he wants to take me to the mall this afternoon.

The bandages come off tomorrow. I'm nervous about seeing them, actually. They feel so hard under there, and I'm scared the bandages will come off and I'll have these crooked, ugly weird hard lumps on my chest. My PS told me that women usually can't wait to see their new boobies, but I just want to leave the bandages on a little longer!

The post above was written this morning. It is now my bedtime. I'm waiting for the valium to kick in so I can pass out. Resting all day long makes it difficult to be tired enough to fall asleep at night.

My breasts are getting more and more itchy, and I've found that ice packs help a TON. This afternoon I had this genius idea: one of the sports bras I bought to wear is too big, so I'm wearing it over all my bandages with the ice packs inside them! Awesome! Now I can adjust the ice packs wherever I need them and they'll stay in place. I like to keep the packs semi-frozen so they'll stay flexible, yet cold. You can buy frozen peas too, but just so you know-Ice packs cost less than frozen peas.

I feel like the tightness and swelling has gone down significantly since this morning. My breasts still feel hard. I know they will be hard for awhile, and that I still have quite a lot of healing to go through before they drop and fluff.

I'm nervous yet excited to have the bandages removed tomorrow. I'm scared that they'll look wrong: bottomed out, lateral nipples, asymmetrical, too big, stripper-y and unnatural, too low, too high, too wide. *sigh* And what if I never have cleavage!?

I went nearly all day without pain medication. I don't seem to really need it. Is that because everything is so numb? Will there be pain when the numbness starts to fade? I'll be asking my PS that tomorrow morning.

I quit smoking for this surgery, and I'm going to remain a non-smoker for life. My bf and I are staying at a friends apartment for a few more days, and other tenants smoke all day long outside his windows. It's sucks to smell cigarettes like that.

I forgot to mention that I've been experiencing the slightest tingling sensations in my breasts. Mostly my right breast, but my left as well. It's so subtle that I don't notice it most of the time. My gut tells me that my nerves are healing, and that the tingling will become more prominent as time passes. I'm hoping that 'zingers' and 'twinges' won't be too terrible for me in the next few days and weeks.

I'm in UK so procedures and meds may be different from yours, but mine itched like mad for a few weeks. It's totally normal I'm 3 months post op tomorrow and almost all the weird stuff cleared up by 5 weeks including itching, most of the swelling etc. I also didn't have any pain at all so didn't take the pain killers as they make you constipated. The kiddy neurofen stuff and paracetamol is better if you get any discomfort xx

Saw my new girls for the first time this morning! I've known what to expect even before my surgery, but seeing them on MY body was still a shocker. I'm happy with the size, and I look forward to seeing my breasts settle into their smaller size.

As expected, they're still hard, spread apart, and set high on my chest. We all know this is as it should be My PS is impressed at how they look, and is pleased at how well the sutures are healing so far. The stitches will be removed in 10 days. After that I'll begin my daily breast massage routine.

The left breast is ever-so-slightly larger than the right. It was that way naturally, though. I like the slight asymmetry. No one really has perfectly symmetrical breasts.

MY NIPPLES AREN'T RETARDED AND I DON'T LOOK LIKE A STRIPPER! WHOO!

I've had full range of movement with my arms since the day after my surgery, but I still take it easy so I don't tear my incisions or pull a muscle or whatever. Right now, I'm all about doing whatever it takes to have a healthy recovery.

Took a shower for the first time since Tuesday morning. Wow. Best. Shower. Ever. Boyfriend washed my hair for me, and was careful to not let the suds run over my breasts. (I have really long hair.) Afterwards, I put lotion on my face and tops of my breasts while the incisions air-dried. I didn't go past the nipple: no lotions near incisions! Doctor's Orders! Boyfriend applied a solution of half hydrogen peroxide and half water to put on the incisions, followed by a generous amount of Neosporin. Also, I must wear gauze over that to prevent my sports bra from rubbing on it.

Until I get the stitches removed, I have to follow this process everyday.

I also haven't shaved my pits, and don't plan to until the stitches are removed. I'm not wearing deodorant either. I'm paranoid about getting infections. *flashes hairy armpits* This is my choice; I bet my PS would find this ridiculous! Hahaha!

I don't have any pain. At this point I just pop a valium to fall asleep faster at bed time.

Oh man, it feels SO weird when I bend over. I feel the implants move around and it's just...the weirdest sensation! Boyfriend keeps staring at my tits because they are so big looking. He never wanted me to get implants, but I'm sure he'll warm up to them eventually

Hahaha yeah the sloshing is so weird isn't it! I love the pain meds <3 Keep posting, I'd love to compare and share our recoveries as we go along.

I wasn't told to do that. I was specifically instructed NOT to wear any lotions or deodorant after showering. That's it. All I've been doing is taking my antibiotics to prevent any infections. Every PS does things a little bit differently, but I'm positive that you'll be alright considering I didn't wash myself with a special disinfecting solution either.

BringOnTheMen- I had the "24 hr rapid recovery" so that might change things a bit but i can do just about everything. obv type, write, lift my arms all the way up, i went to target today... Im taking the pain meds mostly to help sleep because I dont sleep well on my back and cant roll over very well and because there so tight and sore...

Walking was comfortable from the day after surgery and on. I tired easily though, and needed to lay down and rest pretty often. By the third day I was pretty much back to normal. Still taking it easy though!!

Carrying a small purse, writing, typing, reading, etc. is no problem. I think you'll find that the medications will make studying for your classes difficult. Physically, I don't see why you should have any problems.

I couldn't say if that girl did a rapid recovery program or not, but at the rate I'm healing I can understand how she'd be working again at her normal pace after 2 weeks.

What exactly did you want to know about the bending over part? I've been told not to bend over too often, but sometimes it feels good to relieve some pressure and stretch my muscles in a different direction. I mean, for Pete's sake I can't make Boyfriend pick *everything* up off the floor for me! LOL

We haven't had sex yet, but he wants to. I'm not quite ready for that much action yet. Remember the pills numb the pain: it's still there, and the injury is still fresh. Be careful!

You make a really good point about that. It was confusing and a little irritating at first with all the little inconsistencies. But we all do our homework before making such a huge cosmetic/surgical/financial leap right? Right? <wink wink> <nudge nudge>

(just took some pills so sry if spelling/wording is a bit off lol)
The 24 hour quick recovery is a new technique where thy don't touch your ribcage at all so it doesn't bruise and it drastically reduces swelling and pain I don't think many doctors do this yet because its new and i think most doctors are skeptical. I obv havent had a non-rapid recovery BA but i can tell u I'll be ready to go back to work nxt weekend (i got them done on thurs.) even though ill give myself an extra week off I could prob handel going bk if I take it slow...
heres a link to the doctor that did mine. I would reccomend him to anyone!!! him and all his staff were soooo amazing.. this is a link to the page on his website that rly explains the rapid recovery...

Tonight is offically 4 days Post-op. Holy shit.

I'm back in my own home now. Boyfriend drove 4 hours, and then I insisted on going shopping/getting coffee/walking around town before going home. (Percocet ftw.)

Lot's of energy, feeling good. I can't believe I had surgery only 4 days ago. Wow.

Here's the mistakes I made today that you all should pay attention to during your post-op:

-Don't open or close the car door. Ever.
-Don't try to open the sunroof. Ever.
-Don't push, pull or raise anything. Ever.
-Don't grab your boyfriends hand and playfully pull him along to the electronics section.
-When boyfriend wakes you up in the morning singing a song about your new boobs, don't try and push yourself out of bed. It really ruins the moment.

I'm surprised at *where* I felt the discomfort; it was actually between my breasts, on both sides of my sternum. I'd been worried I'd hurt my incisions or pull my pectoral muscles, but that hasn't happened at all and now I doubt it will as long as I continue to be cautious. So yeah, watch out for that. Feels weird.

Boyfriend also invented the most comfortable way to hold the gauze over my incisions while wearing my sports bra: Athletics Tape. Keeps it in place ALL day and ALL night. Do it.

The swelling continues to go down. Before my shower tonight I observed that my breasts are beginning to look more normal. I'm not sure if they've started dropping yet, probably not, but they're not sticking straight out like road cones anymore. There's a different sort of pain starting inside them now. Not sure how to explain it; like a dull ache and tenderness, including my nipples. Warm showers help. The pain is reassuring because my breasts have been absolutely completely numb until now. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones and regain all normal sensitivities!

    -One more thing-
I caved and bought an Under Armour sports bra that zips in the front. It cost me $50. I know, I know. That's a lot of moolah for a damn sports bra. I'd been wearing a Danskin from Walmart that clasps in the front. That's been good and all, but shoot, the Under Armour is worth the $50, I swear. The girls feel superb right now. Go forth and invest.

I didn't have to do this. Likewise above, i was told not to use soap/ lotion/ deodorant etc, and couldn't use any for 6 weeks after around the scar area either. You'll be fine. Just remember to stay away from your scars, don't touch them, and keep any clothes/ bras on that area as clean as possible xx

Today is officially my 10th day Post-Op.

I haven't really had anything new to report the last few days. It's been pretty much a consistent decrease in discomfort, swelling, bruising and whatnot. The incisions look pretty exceptional for 10 days. Boyfriend just took my stitches out (he was a nervous wreck) I expected slight pain and maybe even bleeding, but I actually barely felt a thing. Tomorrow I'll start using ScarGuard, and I'll (seriously) begin the massages tonight when I shower.

Previously I had written about feeling a different sort of tenderness and discomfort in my breasts. Lo and Behold, it was that time of the month. Soo there ya go on that one.

They're beginning to feel softer and more pliable everyday. What I don't like is that my nipples are still totally numb, as are the bottoms and sides of my breasts. I don't quite know how to describe the discomfort of my skin; sort of a dull ache when I play with them. I don't like the feeling of dull pain and numb skin mixed together, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that my sensitivities will return to normal.

Two days ago I ran into an old friend (7 ft tall) who gave me this massive bear-hug. He squished my righty and bruised my lefty. Righty hurt for the rest of the day, and a new awful looking but adorably heart-shaped bruise appeared on my lefty.

ALSO! BIG NEWS...I wore an old sundress without a bra today and noticed for the first time EVER in my LIFE getting checked out! It felt good...being noticed. Making boyfriend jealous. Feels weird kinda...but good still.

    And also..sex is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
I love wearing bras and lingerie and dancing and being on top...I feel so incredibly sexy. And even though Boyfriend was against the surgery, I'd say he has completely and thoroughly warmed up to my new additions. <3
