Default 100 lb. rat on the loose in California

A Capybara, the world's largest rodent, has been spotted in Paso Robles, CA. Looks like a giant rat to me.

The capybara is more like a giant guinea pig than a rat.

Poor thing. I hope someone can rescue it before it gets hurt by a predator or something. Somebody had made an exotic pet out of this baby, and then dumped it when they got tired of it.

The whole country is crawling with 100 lb. rats. We keep electing them into public office.

Yah, if you watch the video in that link I posted, you'll see that the Catholic Church once declared that the capybara was "fish" so that the faithful could eat capybara on Fridays.

Religion sure gets some funny ideas.

EDIT: Oops -- I see both those articles you linked also mention the Church's idea about capybara = fish.

I can't stand people keeping animals as pets that are meant to be in the wild, it's cruel and selfish. (Yeah especially when the novelty wears off and they dump it. Idiots.)
It's happened lots in the UK with meerkats after they were featured on a popular ad campaign.

It's not a rat....it is a rodent, but they are nothing like rats. More like overgrown guinea pigs. I've seen them in zoos down here...they are supposedly the world's largest rodents.

    They're pretty chill...very laid back....

^ Lol. Thank goodnes I've never seen whatever rat that is late at night in new orleans. Only place I ever saw a rat ( and weird since I work in new york and chicago) was in baltimore after work walking to the parking garage. The fucken thing ran right by me I screamed bloody murder and freaked the driver for the club out. I thought it was going to attack me! lol.
