Is 20K/month a lot of money? Not in my eyes...

I'm with you though. I can kinda see what you're getting at.

I said money buys my happiness. But it's not the only thing that buys my happiness....Just one of the main ones.

I want both, money and happiness. I've known people miserable with and without money. I have been doing a lot of soul searching lately though about jobs. A few years ago I was let go from a high paying management job. Since then I've been working a job that pays my bills but is stress free. I make less than I did but am happier. Also, it gives me more free time

A better example might have been this...

let's say you meet a rich guy....I mean, like, billionaire rich..and you start dating him. He is showering you with money, gifts, etc...you now have no financial needs that are unmet.

But he is an asshole. He talks down to you. He cheats on you. He is always checking up on you. He does everything negative that a guy on this forum has done to a girl, except the money thing....he gives that to you freely at your request.

If you leave him, the money is gone. You can't save it up, for example...he has control of all of that...but as long as you stay with him, you're rich.

I don't think I'd be happy in that situation.

But again, I think you and I are actually close on this...anyone who says "money doesn't matter" is either lying to themselves, or is some sort of wilderness hippie or something.

anyone hear about that guy that outsourced his own job? he was getting paid like 50 or 60k/ year, and hired a guy in bangladesh to do his job for 12k/year, the man was free to take on ANOTHER job that made him happy and was part time.

that's what the scrubbing toilets thing makes me think of
