Question how do I clean rhinestone jewelry?

Anyone know the best way to clean stripper bling? My favorite necklace is kind of gunked-over with hairspray residue and turning greenish in spots. Usually my costume jewelry breaks before I have to clean it, but this piece is pretty resilient. Toothpaste? Soaking in hot water? Vinegar? Bleach?

Try an equal mix of amonia and water, soak for a bit then let it air dry.

I typically just give mine a little hot water and soap + tooth brush scrub down.
Then I tape off rhinestones and re-chrome the metal via por15 (although I doubt anyone on SW keeps that sitting around the house but me... so you could just brush the greening metal with silver paint or nail polish)

I tried soaking in hot water with some Bronner's soap, then brushing with an old toothbrush and toothpaste. It worked! All the green came off, and the rhinestones sparkle like they used to. I can't believe I almost just replaced the set.
