I'm gonna agree with caking it on, and mention that I adore the Logitech Gods that make me look so different on cam.
Also, screw mascara - false eyelashes are the way to go. It may vary on the look youre trying to achieve, but for the most part I'd say look for thickness over length.

I didn't watch that tutorial, but if you want a cat-eye look Revlon sells eyelashes that are halves rather than the full length of your eye that make AMAZING cat eyes. The Revlon glue is really good too, I've had trouble with other glues staying on for hours with all the sweat and make up and so on.

    Drag. Queen.

That's all I've gotta say. Heavy foundation to make my skin flawless. Bright pink blush makes my cheeks look simply nicely flushed and rosey. Super thick eyeliner with false lashes and a light eyeshadow to make my eyes look huge. If I'm camming at night I throw on my super dark red lipstick. It's my favorite. It's all vamp goddess extraordinaire/ pin-up.

Though lately I've been going lighter and more natural it's just because im a lazy cripple

In my avatar they put on fake lashes on me, that was the first time I ever had them on, and I was like WOW my eyes look amazing with them. But I can't get them on myself. I tried, I bought some at a store, and I couldn't get them on right. Certain things I just have a hard time trying to duplicate and that seems to be one of them.

yes I know! I really should. Same thing goes for curling my hair, I can start it off OK and then Idk what happens, It starts to get all funky so I don't bother. The blow dryer and a flat iron are my best friends lol. The only thing I can do alright lol

I too was about to say practice LoL

Also, there are different types of lashes, different types of glue...sometimes its just a matter of finding something that you can work with.

Like, I cant make full or half lashes look good to save my LIFE! But I can do the individuals no problem..it still took *a lot* of practice* but after a few tries, the individuals came out looking less sloppy/fake/halfway up my lid than the full or half ones were.

Plus, they looked natural enough, just slightly thicker, as they lasted for a few days so I didnt have to take them off/re-apply. But with mascara on them....Like WOAH! Lashes!!! lol
Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink!

What problem do you encounter when putting them on?

OK...I'll admit it...I'm a retard when it comes to putting on fake lashes, so I'll ask lol.
I normally line the top with eyeliner. If I attempt (keyword here) false lashes, do I still line my eyes? Do I do it before or after I apply the lashes?
I usually go for dramatic eyes for camming, but my lashes are super thin & I've always tried to compensate with extra liner/shadow, but I'd love to have some dramatic lashes to finish off the look.

Line your eyes then apply your lashes, then you can always apply some mascara if you find your natural lashes aren't blending into your fake ones. My natural lashes are pretty long so i have to curl them once i put fake ones on then apply mascara. If not you can totally see my lashes underneath chilling. haha

As for tips with actual application, this is what's helped me(I've finally gotten to where applying them is easy):

♦ Gently bend the strip in a few different ways, you want the curve to relax.

♦ Use as little glue as possible(a very thin line).

♦ Trim a little bit off if you feel like you're getting poked in the inner corner of your eye no matter how far you position the lashes.
Just to add to your awesome tips, when you apply the glue wait 10 seconds for it to become tacky so it stays put when you apply the next section. If you apply it too soon while the glue is still very wet one side will "pop off" when you bend the other side when applying it. (i hope this makes sense) lol

Leah, you are stunning! Thanks for the tutorial. I've never seen an angled eyeliner brush like that, I need to try to find one of those.

I agree with everyone, I have heavy-duty lights and need heavy-duty makeup to keep myself looking natural. I get my false lashes at Target, of all places. They are Elf brand, $1 a pair, and the glue is actually really good. I can reuse the same pair for about a week. I trim them so they fit the outer 3/4 of my eyes, and let the glue sit about 45 seconds or so before applying them. They seem to stick a lot better if I let the glue get super tacky. Then I touch up the inner corner where the falsie meets my eyeliner underneath so it's a smooth line. Sometimes I go over the whole shebang with black or even royal blue to make my eyes pop. Falsies definitely take practice and are so frustrating when you are first learning how to apply them, but now I can't stand getting on cam without them, they make such a difference.

It just wasn't staying on. Half of them were on and half were off lol. I probably bought a cheap brand though, I don't know what are the good lashes and glue to buy are, I only tried to do it once lol.

You can buy an angled eyeliner brush at any sephora.

    @sweetsam
Duo lash glue works pretty well for me, you can buy it just about anywhere

Stay away from the clear glue.
It burns the hell out of my eyes.

I use the Lash grip that is milky white.

    Smooches,

    If you are having breakouts.

Remember to wash your brushes on a regular basis. Sephora or Ulta store carry makeup brush shampoo or you can use regular shampoo.

I do it at night and let them air dry.

This may help keep you skin clearer.

    Good Luck,
    Sam

If u get the ELF lashes kit with "glue" do urself a favor and throw that thing they call "glue" in the garbage lol it's useless

if u have a BSS near u get the latex glue for quickweaves (i.e. for gluing in extensions for short time periods) I've heard it does the job of gluing lashes just as good as DUO at a fraction of the price.

just make sure it's latex not liquid gold lol

yeah sucks to live in Europe - no BSS where I live and I have to wait like a month for the latex glue to be delivered from China. And the local MUFE store charges ~$40 for DUO, ridiculous!

well at least my rent is cheap

I've been caking it on since I started and apparently I am doing something right because everyone keeps telling me how nice my skin is....if they only knew what was under these 10lbs of foundation lol. I also have to put on lots of bronzer with blus on top....I am SO white I make casper look tan, so that PLUS lighting makes me blend in with the wall behind me lol. So I have to pile on the bronzer and blush. So my face winds up looking SO tan almost red compared to the rest of my body but looks just right on cam. Its a process, and I swear I would frighten small children looking like this if I were to go anywhere lol. The tip about putting on your makeup with your cam is the BEST idea- works so well!

Question- how long does it take you guys on average to do makeup and hair? It takes me well over an hour and sometimes I think I am spending too much time on it. I do a really dramatic smokey eye that takes a while though. Just curious

false eyelashes provide instant glam. Also hd powder and powder foundation show up better on cam in my opinion especially if you have oily skin.

I do normal make-up. I dont look good with glamour make-up at all. Smokey eyes make me look like I was hit in the eye and I cant wear bold lip color.

    I love this thread!

It's got lots of great information in it.

I am in the 'cake it on club'.

But I am so pale that my features completely disappear on camera if I am under bright lights.

The #1 makeup trick on cam is winged eyeliner and red lipstick. ALWAYS with the red lipstick.

I put a fuckton of bronzer on my neck, all the way up to my jawline, to try and lessen my double chin. And contour the ol' cheekbones.

Otherwise just winged eyeliner, red shiny lips or soft bare lips.
