Sad Too old (or too mommy looking) to strip?

    Hi there girls!

I was only venturing into dancing, danced for like three months tops a couple of nights a week, and I found out I was pregnant with baby no. 2. So 11 months later and still sort of in the need of cash to get ahead Im considering dancing again. But talking about it with my husband, he said that I might have to consider being a waitress at hooters or something of that source, since he said that strippers sort of have short lifetime, since there are more 18yrs old waiting to be hired at the door. I dont think I look my age (29) and well for having two kids I think I look pretty good, and now Im working on getting toned to go back into dancing.

What's the avg age of an older dancer in the club? Is he right? Sometimes I think he just doenst want me to dance but he knows we need the money.. IDK

I'm sorry but your husband is incorrect. Wait, let me back up. First, you have a beautiful face. Secondly, you do need to tone up your core area but could be fine dancing once that's done. I'm what would be considered an older dancer, in my early 30's, and have never looked better or done better at work. How well you do at your club as as little to do with age as it does with looks - it's how you hustle, build rapport with the customers, and treat dancing as you would treat a regular job. Looks will open the door but everything else is on you.

I work in Tucson and the club has dancers ranging from 18 to 45. None of the young girls do very well consistently the way the older ones do, perhaps due to inexperience, lack of motivation, or who knows why. Personally, when I was in my 20's I took dancing for granted, was usually drunk, and worked MAYBE 3 days. Now it's my bread and butter and I'm just more mature. Don't ever think age is important because you can make it into a monster that is completely unnecessary.

If you and your husband agree, go for it! It's funny, I'm a stripper but when I read you might work at Hooters I thought "Ew, why would she demoralize herself working THERE?" Ha ha. Come where the real money is. You're wearing about the same amount of clothes but the shoes are way better.

Nope, he's not right. I'm your age. About to have my first child, and then I'll be back to dancing again. Don't get discouraged. Ages are all over the board. It's more about your hustle than your age. Keep toning, you'll be fine.

Agreed. Not that I have anything against hooters, but if you're working half naked anyway at least be making the money!

I agree with the girls above. I'm your age and have two kids. I work out, tan, and don't have the perfect tummy but the men aren't looking at my tummy anyway :-) Do your dam thing girl! You look hot already, you will tone by working anyway! BTW my legs are killing me....lol

I totally agree with the hooters comment!!! I was just border line offended when he said that, but I know he didnt say it to make me feel bad.

I was just wondering, because since I only work a short period of time when I started before becoming pregnant with baby no 2 I only saw what look like "young" dancers where I worked.. So I really believed that he was right by saying that.

Now I just have to toned up and sharp up on my hustle skills. Thank u girls!

I think you look great and you have a pretty face.

Telling you to work at Hooter's is kind of a put down if you ask me.

He's wrong. You look good for your age. I am 40 and people still think I am 25 and still get dancing offers. Sure, some clubs will not hire you because you are older, but they are probably clubs you'd hate working at anyway. You might need to tone your stomach but it doesn't look that bad, especially for just having had a baby. You'll lose weight and tone anyway.

I work in Dallas, so it can be tough. Not sure where Im going to try to work, but I know for sure it wont be Cabaret Royale nor babydolls. lol

Im way hotter than most the 18 year olds I work with - hope they read this ahaha. Im 29. Im also way hotter than I was when I was 18. Of course you can still dance. You are a yummy mommy! You def don't look 29. Ive worked with girls who were way older (I think the oldest was in her 50s! but PS central) as long as your still making $$$ then you have nothing to worry about. I do usually lie about my age though... 24 sounds better.

Uhh if your husband said you were too old and mommy looking to strip you should be pissed. He sounds like a controlling passive agressive asshole to me for a. Putting you down and making you feel insecure and b. Sneakily trying to make you not dance.

And you would be fine for cabaret royale imo. Probably babydolls if u make sure to show up tan.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I started dancing when I was 18 and I had to lie out my ass every night, guys with money didn't want dances from me if I told them my true age. Plus it was so hard trying to lie why I don't drink. Like someone else said you look better than a lot of 18-20 year old dancers I have seen that think there hot shit. Tone up and go strut your stuff, I for one would definitely spend some money on you

Sounds like he is just trying to make you feel insecure. You should get back out there if thats what you want. I use sally hansen tan spray to cover stretch marks. Run over it with hairspray. You may not be in the best shape but you could definantly start how you are. When you tone up you can move to a better club.

    You=beautiful!

As some motivation: Every single top earner at my club is obviously over 35, with 4 out of 5 of them being in their late 40s. One of the 40s+ girls I work with it quite proud of her age and it is the sexiest thing in the world!

    I think you'll do great!

Your husband is wrong. I've seen women in their forties who do very well. Just maintain yourself and you'll be ok.

I think you have a pretty face and have a nice hour glass figure from what I can see. You look good for having two babies, kuddos. Your stomach should go down while dancing, light cardio, diet and don't drink alcohol(excessively at least). You should be ok. Go get your dancing shoes.

By the way, 29 is not old at all. And now you have the advantage of being able to hold better conversations, and being able to keep your head in the game better and not be distracted. You could get away with saying you are 23-25 if you wanted to. I know plenty of dancers who are 30-40 that are top earners.

You look great! And you're definitely not too old! I think guys like older dancers because they can relate to them more. I was talking to this guy and a younger dancer (18 ) was talking to his friend. She got up to go on stage and he said, "Man, you're lucky. She's really hard to talk to. I guess it's because of the age difference?"

Some guys are also insecure about their age when they're talking to younger girls.

Ok I am going to be honest here.

You don't look old. However you still have that baby roundness to your belly. Don't get me wrong, baby roundness is not as bad as the roundness I have (fat from enjoying food and life).

I think most clubs would hire you. You may even get night shift.

I think it depends on your attitude. The last club I worked at had a few ladies who were 40+. They made money, had their regulars, and sometimes would make more than the girls half their age. Some older customers prefer the older women because they enjoy talking with them more. I think as long as your body looks good and you can get your hustle on, you should be able to work at any club you want, regardless of your age.

I can thank you gals enough for enough for the support and re assurance. I really dont think he was trying to put me down, I took it more like him having issues seeing me as "the stripper" and the mother of his kids..

I dont think I'm going back to CR I been reading the eccie comments and it sounds more like a brothel than a strip club. I definitely wont go back until I can toned up a bit. I was thinking by the end of October.

If I read your post correctly, you just had your second baby within the last couple of months? (congrats!)
If so, girl, you look amazing! You look hot no matter what, but if you really just gave birth, than I am stunned!

As everyone else has already told you, your husband has no idea what he's talking about in this case. One of the top earners in my club is 37. You are beautiful, and if stripping is really what you want to do, then I don't see any reason why you can't be successful at it.

You look great! And I also think guys like girls who are a little older (mid 20s and up). Dancers come in all shapes, and ages. So tell your bf to pound sand and go for it

Your husband is wrong. The most successful and most chased-after dancers I know are at LEAST in their mid-20's, and often older. A giant chunk of the barely-legal girls don't last long. This job requires a certain amount of professionalism and maturity, and a lot of the young girls who start in this industry because they want the whole party lifestyle are NOT professional or mature. You are super hot, DEFINITELY more attractive than a lot of the girls I've danced with. Your husband sounds like a jerk for trying to convince you otherwise
