Default Blocking areas on MFC not effective??

I need some clarification on location blocking on MFC.

I always assumed it made you vanish off the MFC page entirely for those (if the guy isn't using a proxy or whatever) locations you had blocked. But the other day a guy told me in chat that my profile wasn't working for him, and later mentioned he was from my state. Does the location blocking only prevent people from seeing your profile, but they can still see your cam? That's REALLY stupid if that's the case! Does anyone know how it works? I'm getting nervous!

I'm pretty sure it blocks you when you are on cam. There were times when I didn't have my state blocked, but then blocked it again, and someone asked me if I had blocked my state because now they can't see my profile, or myself when I come online. I believe it works, minus the few that are technically savvy to get around it.

If he's on your friends list, he can get around the location block.
I believe if he's using a proxy he can also watch you / view your profile.

I am 99% sure it DOESN'T work! Wanna know how I know? I have a chart thing added to my profile that tracks what city, state, and country my visitors are from. There are TONS from the 2 states I apparently have blocked. I emailed MFC about this and they said "no, that's a problem with their site then. ours is accurate" Well, i DOUBT that! I tried ANOTHER one of those city tracker things from a completely different site, and guess what? Same results. Don't trust any block system.

I have a friend who blocks my state, and I couldn't see her when she was on cam, so she added my premium account to her friends list. Now I can see her when she's live but can't look at her profile. So, it does seem to work the way it's intended to, but it's not foolproof.

I don't think it worked. I blocked Ontario Canada and a guy from Oakville Ontario Canada visited me. Then I met some guys from Toronto. Yeah, it didn't work for me!
I like triple checked it to make sure it was on too :s

I had my state blocked on MFC, but constantly still got customers from my state, so much so, that I just went ahead and unblocked it. The system is FAR from reliable.

There could be one of a few things going on. You may have just ran across someone that was lying, the customers ISP is located in a diffrent state (your getting the isp's city btw not the actual persons), or they came in under a proxy. It's also possible they are from that state and told you but where not currently in the state at the time. Of course it could be a plethora of things and all sorts of combinations. But I agree with Glamour. Don't trust what you did not build and don't trust that which you cannot see.

^Ya. Even someone who lives in one state can still see you if he's traveling, or maybe using a phone or other wireless device, or simply if his ISP is based in a different state. Lots of ways for it to happen without the customers trying to get around it or even knowing about blocking. I know my 3g stick used to show me based in Missouri and I haven't been anywhere near that state in years. LOL

I kinda think the location blocking is another one of those things that shouldn't have been openly discussed on public forums for customers to see. Then they'll just go use a proxy to get around it because you know, they are entitled to see every camgirl online without restriction

tessarubyxoxo: somehow i ended up on SW's homepage.... then i clicked on "forums." & i was in fucking narnia.
