Default Seroma 3 months after BA :(

Just been to see my nurse. I have seroma (fluid build up) on the right breast. Got to travel up to see my surgeon and have it drained on friday. ANyone ever had this happen? Does draining hurt? What if it happens again? I'm scared. And so pissed off as I only just got the all clear to exercise and ride my horse again

^ I haven't had it but Im curious as to how they know its a seroma?? Just because its not bruised? Im actually studying inflammation and repair in my pathology class at the moment and I wouldn't have thought you could tell from the outside that its only plasma, but not sure (still just learning this stuff).

I assume it will be actually a relieve for you though to get that fluid out. Have they explained the procedure? What painkillers or anaesthetic you'll receive. I assume it should be relatively simple and painless but not knowing the circumstances, couldn't say for sure.

I wont't have anaesthetic i don't think. it's just a big needle they use to aspirate the fluid. They don't know for sure, that's why they are doing a sonogram(??) first to see what's going on in there. But as seroma is one of the fairly common side effects of BA I guess they see it all the time and recognise the symptoms.

^If it is a seroma then I would think its gonna be fairly painless. The needle will hurt but they will at least use a local anaesthetic if its that giant. You'll prob feel way better after getting that fluid out.

While I have not had fluid on my breast, I have had other parts of my body aspirated (knees and heel). It is more nervewracking than painful, just a bit of pressure (they usually use a topical anesthetic). Just try to keep calm through steady breathing and meditation and it will be over and done with quickly!

Thanks girls. Just an update, i'm fine and the aspiration was not too bad at all. Hopefully I won't need it (or anything else) doing to my breasts, and they will recover and look lovely
