How bad are your allergies, in particular to cats?

My sister wants to come over and is allergic to cats.

Im moving into a new place- do you think that it will be ok if i kept the cat to one room (just while she's here), bought those hepa air filters, vaccum with a dyson, and steam clean the furniture?

How bad are your allergies and would the cat still affect you in that situation?

Is there any other products that might help with the allergy stuff that i should look into?

Just ask her if the precautions you are taking will be good enough for her.

They would be for me. I'm allergic to cats, but its not that bad. As long as I stay away from the cats and dont sit on couches covered in hair, I will be fine. If i feel the symptoms(watery eyes, sneezing, etc....) i just take some benedryl.

Although most cats aren't a fan of baths, bathing a cat is a good way to reduce dander and the spread of the cat's saliva. Over-the-counter allergen reducers can be found at many retail pet stores, and wiping a cat down with a shed- or allergen-reducing cloth can be helpful for the allergic owner.

you can find the wipes at your local pet store if not get a microfiber cloth damp it and wipe the cat down with it

What you're doing would be fine for me. I received allergy shots for several years, which took my major allergies down to mild or none. If I start having problems, I just take Zyrtec or Claritin. Maybe she could buy some, just in case? But what your doing seems super nice. The people I've visited with pets have never done something so considerate.

Wash your clothes and any material/fabric ALL THE TIME lol. Yeah if you keep the cat in one room it should be okay but would the cat be okay in one room? Like my parent's cats would probably freak out if they were just in one room for a while!!
