I think your missing my point. As an art history buff w/ her degree- a large chunk of languages in the world now are based off of dead Latin & Greek languages-many words at least anyways. That does not mean that these people consider themselves Latin. In fact many of us other cultures you are describing or have in the past get highly annoyed w/ it -because even though many do accept other cultures & respect them does not mean that we are part of that culture & ours should be less or a branch of something else. That wishful or ignorant thinking to outsiders.
And yes I believe that most people are aware that their are Latins that are white, Latins that are brown & Latins that are black. But many other culture including Italians, Greeks, Portuguese do not consider themselves Latin. Although, most Spainards do, because they are! Speaking from many of my friends' point of views -they considers themselves Italians, Greeks, Portuguese, Middle Eastern, or Mediterranean(this being the most widely used term amongst them). Let other cultures speak for them selves. This is a Latin thread, correct? French is also based off of an old dead Latin root -but I highly doubt that any French man or woman would consider themselves Latin.
Are you aware of how many times & different versions of the Greek language & Latin language have changed over the centuries..? -talk to a theology student or someone in the church & they will tell you. It's really very interesting. Many people in Latin America & Central American are a mixing of Indigenous blood w/ either French, Spanish, Portuguese, African, Caribbean -whatever. In my personal opinion, I believe that the South American & Central American share most of the same blood as my people (Native, Indigenous, etc.)-but you don't see me raising hell. Let people identify themselves as they wish to be instead of you categorizing them for them. There's sooo much mixing going on anyways -in the end we'll prob be all race any ways. Lol!![]()
