    Default How much weight did you lose after you started dancing?

    I'm curious to know about how much weight the average girl loses once she starts dancing.

    When I started back in 2003 I think I weight 122, and went down to about 107 pretty quickly. But, this was also around the same time I switched from OTC birth control pills to Yasmin, so that may have factored in to the weight loss. I'm planning to come out of "retirement" this week, and currently weigh 128, and am absolutely hating it. I hope I can get to 118 fairly quickly, but I'm older now (27), and losing isn't as easy as it used to be.

    Did you lose weight after you started dancing? If so, how much?

    When I was young I did... but not so much now. I drink at work so its kinda counter-productive.

    I've lost about 10-15 pounds since I started dancing two years ago. Cutting out booze and carbs was crucial.

    Couple of kilos. My weight still fluctuates with the seasons, but only by a few pounds. I like to keep a flat stomach.
    There was a period of time when work made me so desperate to look skinny that I barely ate. I grew out of that phase.

    NONE.

    Dancing itself, even with stage work and pole tricks has had no influence on my body. However, since I have started dancing I have had more motivation to work out and I have lost some weight from hitting the gym.

    I haven't lost any. But, when I don't dance I'm normally about 10 lbs heavier. Dancing helpthebweight weight off bit doesn't help me lose it. The gym and eating healthier do that.

    Working 4 nights a week, I usually lose 12-15lbs in a month... if not sooner. If I didn't drink, I'm sure it would be more.

    i've been dancing at a club now for a month and a half and have lost 0 weight. but i notice i am replacing fat with muscle.

    increased exercise always means increased eating for me however I am more toned. Watch what you eat and don't drink to much at work and its hard not to lose...well unless you just roll around on stage the whole time

    If i dance two days in a row, I drop around 3 lbs. I fluctuate in within a 5 lb range.

    But yrs. ago I did take almost a year off. I had gained about 7 lbs. or so. When i started back up, within a year, I had lost 11 lbs.

    Well, when I dance for more than four months in a row, I lose about 15 pounds.

    I've never lost weight dancing because I've always been thin, but my body shape was really transformed in those first several months with all the squats & backbends & even just walking in those heels for hours.

    None, but I've definately toned up, especially in the rear I have a boyish, flat-as-a-pancake bum, but all the squatting and gyrating is giving it a nicer shape, i think. I've only been dancing for 3 months, and while my weight has stayed about the same, I like the changes working has made to my body

    my weight hasn't changed but holy shit has it shifted around! I used to be wayyy more round. Since I started going to the gym, my body has changed 100%. I'm only about 50% to where I want to be. I would see better results if I did cardio but I'm lazy.

    I probably didn't lose weight but lost fat. Depending on your bodytype you may lose fat and gain muscle and muscle weighs more. I toned up quite a bit though and got rid of the extra flab I had on the stomach and the 6 pack underneath appeared. Now I've gotten lazy since retiring and need to get my butt back in shape.

    That's how I was too, especially when I quit drinking. I require a LOT of sleep (around 10 hours), so between sleeping a lot and working I'd often forget to up my calories.

    Now that I'm retired, I'm around 130lbs. When I left NOLA, my body was amazing from working 5 or 6 nights a week.

    THIS. It drives me crazy when people are chasing a number on a scale. As soon as you start building muscle, your desire for a certain weight goes "bye bye!" out the window. Unless you are wasting away and are "skinny fat", you won't lose weight and be able to look THAT good.

    when I started dancing, I was 150 and thought that I was in good shape. I wasn't necessarily OVER weight but I was definitely chunky. For a long time I didn't work out but did an active stage show and was working a lot so I lost some and stayed at 150, maybe going down to 140. Now I'm super thin because I work out a lot. My body is completely different -- I used to wear a size 32 around my hips and now I wear a size 27. I'm back to 150. Pure muscle, baby.

    here's my 150. I'm 5'4"

    I know this is a bit of photowhoring but my point is that 150lbs of fat looks very different than 150lbs of muscle.

    I'm jealous of you girls who tone up from dancing. I need to do something much more athletic to see gains (although I'm petty toned anyway even when on the chunky side). Pole is great for the arms but my legs are a huge problem area for me so I need to do about a million lounges and squats a week with weights to see a result there. But dancing is def great for AB definition IMO. All those body rolls

    Dancing has def changed my body, but only when I dance and dont party and drink too much....alcohol is sugar and sugar makes you fat...smoke a joint before work The pole has given me beautiful arms that I am always complimented on by men & women...even my mom...lol I am also very very big into hula hoop dance and its changed my body the most...esp my ass !!! <33 i started dancing in 2006...i was prob about 130lbs and never did ne thing at all aside from ballet years earlier...now im 24 years old...5'7" and 112 lbs

    Had always been 88 lbs. Then I gained 2-3 lbs in muscle after dancing. Im happy with my body now.

    I have kept my weight, but have more rhythm and balance in my body. I can move my body better and I have more confidence and it is also an important thing

    My weight has been up and down. My weight now is similiar to my weight when i was 17.
