I was reading about beets, and since I'd been meaning to try making some after having fresh beets at a restaurant (rather than canned nasty beets), I decided today was the day.

I just did something simple since I was making other stuff for dinner, and filled the bottom of a pan with water, around half an inch, and then put washed whole beets and turnips in, and then into the 400* oven with tinfoil wrapped over the pan.

Did that for an hour, took them out and sliced it up and slid the skins off, and it was delicious

I want to learn more about using beets. I had a really awesome beat & goat cheese salad and candied pecans.

Any good recipes?

I'm also thinking about trying to substitute turnips for potatoes because I know mashed turnips are supposed to be pretty tasty. I'm excited to learn about beets
