Thumbs down Things we hate about VANILLA JOBS!

I thought It would be fun to post why we hate real jobs. The regular jobs that people have to go to every day!

I have one in addition to camming, and at first I liked it, but the girls today at my job really irritated me and now I think they are fake, and I HATE fake people. I don't like when people are all smiles to my face, and talking shit behind my back. Just be real.

I even mentioned that to them wording it differently, and they said, "well people will talk, if you want a job where people wont gossip, don't work with all girls".

    WHATEVER!! lol

I don't have time for all of that, and I am not getting paid enough, and on top of that I have never had an all male place of employment...have you?

Anyways so here goes for reasons why I HATE "regular" jobs:

    More work, shitty pay

    Micro-managed

Cleaning up after other peoples shit (desk, bathroom, wherever)

    Gossip

    Fake Girls

    Drama

    Write-ups

    Lunch breaks? What lunch break?

Can't call out at last minute because you have no one to cover your shift!!!

Can't not show up to work in the morning, especially if you are opening because you have the keys and if you are not there, all the other workers will be standing outside giving you dirty looks

    Having a schedule/long hours

    Can you think of more?

The MAJOR reason I hate 9 - 5 jobs is that they do not pay enough for all the hoops you have to jump through. You could be the tea boy/ girl in a small office, or the assistant manager of a high end retail store, or the manager of a large corporate firm and you'd face the same drawbacks - shitty pay, losing the majority of your day/ life to the grind, and never getting anywhere. Throw in office politics, the time and expense it takes to travel, and the fact that pay rise increases never match the increase in expenditure through bills, and it's just not worth it. The system does not work. And I'm not just grouchy because I've always been in shitty jobs, i haven't - I was earning over 50k per year in my last job, plus perks like holidays and cars. I was earning so much i didn't know what to do with myself, lol, but you know what? I didn't have any TIME to spend it even if I wanted to. I was getting home at 10pm at night sometimes (when i wasn't shmoozing with a client/ company drinks), and always had my work mobile turned on. Nah, definitely not worth it! To give you an example, let's say someone in sales earns £50,000 per year before tax, but to get that wage they are working the standard 37.5 hours, PLUS extra after the office closes to meet with clients, field calls, and prepare for meetings, so on average around 50 hours per week. After tax they'll bring home approx 35k per year, which works out as £14.50 per hour......!!!!!!!

Why the FUCK anyone stays in crappy "normal" work is beyond me.

Self-employment is where it's at. And if you're lucky enough to have found something that really banks for you then even better. You might end up working harder or even longer, but you're doing it for YOU, on YOUR terms, and especially in our cases, you set the amount you earn, the sky is the limit

I second all of this! The worst things for me are:

    1. After being a stay at home mom it's nearly impossible to find a decent paying job that's willing to hire you even with experience. (I was home 5 years)

    2. When the kids get sick you have to take off and worry about losing your job because of it. (kids have been sick since last week and I've been taking care of them)

    3. No ban or kick buttons!

I'm so loving camming even though I haven't been able to do it a whole lot yet!

I work in a call-center and they keep finding BEDBUGS people bring in on themselves! we wrap our shit up in plastic bags (and I wrap my chair now and spray my own rubbing alcohol from home all over) but still EEEEHGHGHG
I CANNOT afford to get bedbugs!!!! I actually found one in my own cubicle (after smashing it) and i reported it, moved to a different seat and all that, but they sat someone else in my chair! Ew wtf!!! I know they spray the place but seriously.

^ That's DISGUSTING. Our call center was infested with black mold, people ended up having to quit because of the effects it was having on their health. Eventually the health department and yeah..long story short uhm..Call centers are gross.

I also would like to make the point I disagree with calling them REAL jobs. We *do* real work, ladies and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I think the word is "Vanilla" jobs rather than "real".

And what I hate about them is following a schedule. Even tho PBL does require a schedule I change it around at my liking, I just need to notify them.
At a vanilla job you can't just stroll in and
    out as it suits you

"yeah boss, I decided I'm gonna start a couple hours late tonight..No, nothing's wrong ...I just decided i'd rather take a nap than be there on time."

In the past 7 years I have only had 2 real jobs... neither of them I have done for pay just because I can't handle the idea that I'm essentially trading my life for money. I do the work just to have something on my resume in case one day I really have to use my degree. The job I have now, teaching English to refugees, is great and fulfilling and truly makes me happy, but the things I hate the absolute most about anything that requires me to leave home is:

the commute: this ranks number one. the fact that i no longer have a car means i have to travel 1.5 hours to AND from the school. add on the hours i work there and no amount of money would be worth the time i'm putting in to do this.

a close second is having to work when i really don't feel well. yesterday i felt like complete shit and i had to stand on my feet for several hours talking non-stop with a scratchy throat and no sleep. when periods come and cramps are severe, this problem is multiplied by 10. add on the commute to the above and it's pure hell.

i'd rather hustle for paypigs from my bedside.

BUT i do like the feeling i get of adding something to society. camming, no matter how well i do, has never given me that. nor has stripping.

I don't like 9 to 5's because I think they pay too little for the work you do, you are required to do monotonous work that is not stimulating in any way, and you still deal with rude customers that are entitled. I think us dancers forget that sometimes, we aren't the only people that deal with assholes--the difference is that these assholes try to fuck us.

Another reason I hate 9 to 5's is because they take so much out of your paycheck, it's easy to get "laid off" (strippers don't get laid off, lol) in this economy, you have to work a schedule that is determined for you by the company, they can impose mandatory overtime, you may have to do things that are not in your job description (when we the last time you saw a stripper mopping the floor?).

I think 9 to 5's are nice, but when I get my PhD I'll be an independent contractor anyway because I'll be a Clinical Psychologist...so I'll answer to me, hah!
If you are willing to do for one year what other's won't, you can spend a lifetime doing what other's cant.

    - Even if you have nothing left to do until the next day, and are doing nothing productive, you can't just go home; you have to sit at your desk and look busy, or hunt around begging for some freakin photocopying to do, cos if you sit and stare at the walls, you'll have the boss's evil eye on you in like 2 split seconds.

    - Eating a miserable soggy sandwich on your lunchbreak cos no on else can move their butts from their desks to get out for some fresh air.

    - Or, spend lunch times wandering aimlessly around town waiting for your 'hour' to be up -- that is, if you haven't got a colleague to 'hang with at lunch' -- and I hardly ever did. Got on well with colleagues but never was able to get very close to them for some reason.

    - Stealing outside for ciggie breaks in freezing cold like at school

    - Being forced to go to those godawful ' Away Days' where you and your colleagues can do fun things like team 'bonding' exercises -- e.g. buildling bricks and solving puzzles YAY!; everyone acting excited that Hey we get a free EVENING MEAL, can ya believe it, and DRINKS woooo hooo.

I mean, sure I just LOVE standing around making forced convo with people I see for 8 hours every single freakin day of my life except w/ends.

having to spend the night at some strange hotel a few miles away from your house so that the whole department and boss can really mingle and spend quality time ... haha... but actually the whole group coming back not having bonded at all, infact hating each other even more.

    - Being forced to 'go out for drinks with the team' even if it's Friday evening and ACTUALLY you'd rather hang out with your b/friend, thanks very much, who you haven't seen all week.

    - The same applies to 'leaving do's' , people's birthdays and 'drinks with the new colleague', not to mention the 'Christmas Do' and the 'Summer Do' -- only just about bearable if totally drunk and you can find 1 person to hang with who doesn't want to talk 'presentations' and clients and other unfrivolous boring junk which should be saved for office hrs only.

OMG the thought of those 'Away Days' makes me feel physically ill

-I forgot to add, travelling to work on the tube or bus with someone's stinking armpit in your face; getting very nearly injured during the huge wrestle as the doors open to get the last available seat ; spend half an hour gripping on for dear life totally squished on both sides worrying that you're going to run out of air & pass out or have a panic attack. That's what most of my journeys to work were like; right in the middle of rush hour -- total nightmare.

Not being flexible AT ALL when one has documented proof of health problems, even though by law they "have" to be. You'll still get harassed, questioned, and treated poorly about it until you go to work anyway even though your doctor tells you not to. <--- my biggest vanilla concern

-gaining office weight. Yup I am one of the people that can't resist the machine or Gennie's cookies or Al's cupcakes.

-Not being flexible with health problems/doctors appointments.

    -stupid office parties

    -eating because I am bored

    -cleaning up after other people

-30 minute lunch breaks that don't even give me enough time to get home and walk my dogs

-not being able to walk my dogs for 10 hrs. My dogs are VERY well house trained so they never went in the house while I was gone, but I always felt bad for them and wanted to be able to walk them during my lunch.

-rushing home to walk my dogs

-having to buy lunch foods at the grocery store. I personally like a warm lunch so there is only so many granola bars and bagels and cheese I can eat. Bagel with cheese and granola bar gets sickening after a while.

Because caring for a disabled person is SOO EASY

I know where you are coming from. I was a caregiver for a while too. My little brother was shot, stabbed and run over with a car (someone tried to kill him). When he was out of the hospital I took him into my home and became his caregiver. He needed help putting on his clothes, cooking, getting into the shower, and I also needed to take him to all his doctors and physiotherapy every day.

Thank goodness he was able to go to the bathroom on his own and feed himself! I would have hated that duty.

Oh and the public health nurse would visit twice a week to change his wound dressings and make sure he was ok. Thank heaven for these people as I don't know what I would do without them.

My brother was shot 5 times (once in the head), cut from one end of his neck to the other end (literally from ear to ear) and partially run over with a car (on his leg). He is now fully recovered, but still has a problem with his hand and his knee (where the car hit). He has to walk with a cane and his left hand has no sensation in it other then a tingle in the baby finger and the one next to it. This makes him a risk for burning himself when he cooks. However he has now moved out and lives in New York city.

O'Jen, I knew I liked YOU! Thank you for your understanding me.
I am so sorry that happened to your bro, & happy to hear he's made such a good recovery, & all the best to him!
I hope whoever was involved in hurting him get theirs back, & trust me they will if they haven't already.
Back to topic: I am actually now looking for a (preferably) part time vanilla job.
I just have such a low bs tolerance..this last 'call center' i worked in, they did not have a/c in one of the hottest times,,they allowed us to 'dress casual' like that made up for it. One of their 'commission' procedures was you get to guess 3 envelopes..you may get $1.00, $20.00, or $50.00WTF

    +1

I don't like that at my vanilla job I can't figure out a way to stealthily log into my NiteFlirt ignore line or any sexting services heh heh heh.

Well, maybe I could if I somehow chloroform the IT guy who tracks our keystrokes and browsing history....

Being told WHAT to do, WHEN to do it, HOW to do it (annoyingly enough there's usually easier methods but you *have* to listen to your boss), all while someone else gets really high profits and you make barely enough to live even though you're doing all the work. What's even worse is that your boss probably still thinks you aren't working hard enough.

I hate being told what to do. Only when it's beneficial do I like it, and that's about 2% of the time.

I really hate how management will walk back and forth breathing down someones neck, like a drill sergeant. Then you may request a day off one month from now, and can't get it.

Listening to lame gossip from lame coworkers. Can't get over time. I have even had to explain myself when going to use the bathroom.

Going to lunch in separate groups. It really pissed me off that I was in group b, and had to wait for group A to get back from lunch. It could be 2pm and beyond before them assholes came back from lunch!
Taking a break from all unproductive shit will prove to be the best choice you can make.

I hate having to be nice to people that treat me like shit in normal jobs. In the sex industry if I don't like you, I don't have to be nice to you/talk to you.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Well, maybe I could if I somehow chloroform the IT guy who tracks our keystrokes and browsing history....
You can't log into NF on your phone? That's what I do when I'm away from home. I'd be ignoring the hell out of some dudes and playing raise the rate while in the office
