You are already stunning IMO... I don't really have anything constructive to say at this point except... Ask JD! lol. I bet she'd have lots of good ideas about makeup and hair.

    1. Invest in a quality curling iron about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2. It wont make your hair lank.
    2. If serum is making your hair lifeless try garniers conditioning cream. Apply while hair is wet to ensure even distribution.
    3. Eyeliner, eyeliner, eyeliner! Id give Macs blooz a whirl.
    4. Bronzer and blush! Macs skinfinish is amazing!!
    5. If you want to tan, save your skin and try Neutrogenas spray on tanner.
    6. Nails are always nice, but if you cant afford em try a do it yourself manicure with a light color polish.
    7. Make sure youkeep your hair well trimmed. A bad cut can sink you looks wise.

You are already very pretty so dont stress!

Shellac nails. It's a gel that won't chip . Your mani will stay looking perfect 14 days. You look great , so I wouldn't change much. Do you know how your hair holds up dancing if you get it professionally done ? I ask because I've paid a pro to curl mine ( it's stick straight ) but I rarely do because towards the end of a shift, it's just back to straight.

^^^ Ditto on Shellac nails, they're good for nail condition unlike acrylics.
Maybe instead of poker straight hair work with your tendency to curl and experiment with Curly blow waves, rollers, Beach style curls, wavy style like kim bassinger in LA confidential.

Teeth whitening, false lashes (or Latisse type products), FAKE tan or body bronzer (I use sally hansen light airbrush and spray with hairspray once bronzer dries).
    Tiny tweaks----->BIG CHANGES

Girls you're awesome, thank you! I know I'm ok looking, but i am very much girl next door, and just want to change that up before i get much older and lose my chance I've heard so much good stuff about the mac blush recommended above, will def try that.

@ Carmen, I don't dance. Just looking to make myself look better in general, and also for camming. My hair tends to fall out of any style i put it into lol. It tends to look best when it's been curled then left/ slept on for a day or two. But it's so fluffy and bitty, i want those lovely glossy, tamed curls like in Lucy pinder's pic.

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of it is being famous. I remember when Lucy pinder was 1st discovered and she was so average looking. But now she has access to a make up artist/hairdresser, has had her teeth done etc. Unless you're really good at hair and makeup I think it's hard to look that groomed. Even when she was on big brother she reverted back to just looking like a pretty girl next door because she didnt have a team of people working on her. I dont mean to sound unhelpful. Oh and I think you look great in your pic anyway. Xx

i can't believe this is a real thread. i was all excited to give some beast a makeover and....i'm not even sure what it is you want to improve.

like...i am really good in finding flaws in people, particularly their faces, and i'm not really sure what i'm supposed to be looking at. i mean, if you want to feel fancy, get you some botox. that is my solution anytime you're feeling a bit sinister.

as for being heavier, stop eating. seriously. drink espresso and take a multivitamin if it's that serious. otherwise, i'm still not sure what this thread is even about.

If you do go with fake tan St tropez is by far one of the best on the market that you should find internationally. I really like the foam version. A good airbrush tanner is a godsend but they are hard to find. If ur not dancing I recommend eyelash extensions. There's been lots of threads about them. They can be annoying if you dance cause all the makeup but for everyday I love them. Also accessories always kinda help glam up a look.

Whoa.. you're hot! I think your eyebrow shape is perfect and you look great really.
Anyway, if you want to change a few things up, Try going 1 more level darker, or getting lowlights. Eyebrow pencil just a little to make the eyebrows darkers, more eyeliner on top, add fake eyelashes or a really good marsaca.
Try buying argan w/ hemp seel oil and apply it to damp hair, then blow dry and straighten with an iron.

You are crazy hot, and have redhair, and men seem to go insane for girl-next-door types.
If you want it a little classier? Fake eyelashes, solid colors, and fake pearls.. the necklace and the studs. For some reason, pearls give a girl instant class... even if they're from Claire's.

^Haha so true! I got stopped by complete strangers to compliment me on how "classic" and "elegant" i look...and I just wear $5 pearl studs, pearl necklaces, or $5 fake diamond earrings I buy at Claire's.

I look at other women and think they are so stylish and well groomed, while I can spend an hour on my hair and makeup and end up looking nothing better than a prettyish girl with messy hair, after a night out. Sometimes I straighten my hair (ghd's) but it just looks lank with frizzy bits. If I use serum/ smoother it goes greasy. I can never get my eyebrows perfect, and my face tone is always too pastey/ white.

I'm 5"6, long brunette hair with red and blonde in it naturally (auburn), amber eyes (i do like my eyes as they are very amber and unusual), and I'd say my best features that i actually do think look good already are my shoulders and back. I'm size 10-12 UK which is yuck (on me), but can't exercise atm due to complications after my BA. I'd love to go down to a size 8. I don't think I am too far off Lucy Pinder actually looks wise, but somehow she has cracked the secret of grooming!! I know I have the potential to look good too if i only knew where to begin lol.

I would like some pointers on how to improve the way I look. Really, starting from the beginning, as this is something I just never learned. I am not opposed to tanning, extensions, nails, etc etc etc, i just don't know how to get them to look good on me lol.

Find an old hollywood starlett you like, and mimic her. Tons of youtube video how-tos. Its more about classic and polished than it is about anything else. Precise eyeliner and lips. Precise curls. Classic fine lingerie outfits. Thick hair (extensions) and lashes (falsies). Glitter. Pearls. It takes time to find your individual style with it, so try out classic stuff first.

OK I'm just going to echo the fact that you're ALREADY hot... and the messy hair looks good in the picture. Kinda has that effortless, beachy vibe.

Curling your hair will give it more volume, as will teasing at the roots. For frizziness... you might be using too heavy of a serum... try using a smoothing serum when your hair is wet, then blow dry it, and then use a normal heat protectant on your dry hair when you straighten it. You might also want to use a heavier smoothing/moisturizing conditioner or treatment in the shower to get rid of the frizz. Professional hair products, like Bumble & Bumble, Redken, Aveda, etc. are generally more reliable and long lasting, compared to drugstore stuff.

Your haircut might also be the culprit for lank/frizzy hair, especially if you have split ends or if it's all one length. Couldn't really tell in the picture.

For makeup... you could always go to a makeup counter and have them show you what to do, then buy those products. Or watch youtube videos for tutorials and product reviews.

Other than that... Practice makes perfect! : )

I think making your hair a more dark chocolate brown would add some wow-factor too.

Wow thank you for all the tips!!! I have a list as long as my arm now to work on I was thinking of dying my hair a darker brown already, so i think i will try that and have a cut at the same time. I haven't had my hair cut in about 3 years lol, i just trim it myself *cringe*

@Silicone, you're right about the being famous factor. I guess when you have a team of people it's a lot easier to look groomed all the time. She does have the exact same eye makeup that cheryl cole wears.. they must have the same stylist? lol

@ camille, LOL it IS a real thread honest! My main question was is it possible for an average girl next door to become more groomed and stylish, and if so, how? Because I honestly don't know. For example, the blush that was mentioned earlier by MAC, i really want to try out, but i looked on google for it and there were like 10 different shades... how the hell do you know which one to get?? Really, I am THAT inexperienced at it. When I was 16 ish i used to experiment all the time with hair and makeup and mimic women i liked the look of, but i stopped bothering and all these years later i sort of feel stuck in a rut. I guess I just want a change up. These tips have given me the boost i need.

@ Glamour, thanks for the tip. I used to do this a lot when i was younger. I love Vivien Leigh & Ava Gardner <3

I don't know your exact skintone, but there are some things you can do makeup wise to look more groomed.....

    1. Use three different colors when applying eyeshadow, or at least one color with a highlighter. This gives more dimension and shape to your eyes, and really makes them pop more. One color is a highlighter for under your brow bone, one color is an all over lid color, and one color is a darker color to accentuate the crease. I apply the dark crease color in an outer V shape, extending from the crease straight down to the corner of my upper lid. Here's a video that gives a good example of what I'm talking about: http://www.makeupgeek.com/tutorials/...e-the-outer-v/, and I blend it really well so that it fades evenly and blends with the other shades.

I love the Lancome palettes because they give you an array of shades in the same color family that all compliment each other, and instructions on where to apply them (http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...categoryId=B70) I have the Bronze Amour and I like it, but not as much as my HG bronze, Loreal Bronze Star. I have really light blue/grey eyes so I go for bronze, chocolate brown, and plum shades for eyeshadow colors. These palettes are shimmery, so they are very glam, not subtle everyday eyeshadows by any means.

I also love the versatility of MAC vanilla pigment. I use this after my entire eyeshadow application, just a tiny bit in the highest part of my browbone, just under my eyebrow, and just a tiny bit in a small area. I also use it generously on the inner corners of my eyes, blended inwards into the crease. This really opens up my eyes and draws in light. The key is to use small amounts and add more for desired intensity.... little by little, take your time. Sometimes I will dot a small amount of the vanilla pigment in the middle of my bottom lip after I'm done with my lip liner/gloss, to add subtle dimension. I stole this trick from Latina Rose, who used to be a member here.

    2. ALWAYS use a bronzer with your blush. Use a bronzer to trace a number 3 on each side of your face. Start at the top of your forehead, sweep around into the hollows of your cheeks, and around one more time ending at your jawline. Go from the top to the bottom, then back up from the bottom to the top in a sweeping number 3 pattern a couple of times, so that it looks natural and blended. This gives your face a natural sunkissed look. Then, apply blush just on the apples of your cheeks in a Nike swoosh shape. I personally don't even use blush anymore, but when I did, I LOVED MAC Peachtwist. Now, all my friends also use Peachtwist for a blush, and it seems like it's sold out at MAC all the time. I use NARS Casino as a bronzer, but Laguna would be a lighter choice.

    3. Use a highlighter for the bridge of your nose and the upper portion of your cheekbones, right under the outside bottom part of your eyes. I use Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder, but good luck finding it anywhere. I also like Smashbox softlights in Dusk, however this leans towards beige, where the Kevyn Aucoin is absolutely no color, just illuminates.

    4. Use a brush and powder to define your eyebrows. Make sure you have them threaded or waxed and trimmed on a regular basis. I personally don't like eyebrow pencils!

The key is not to start slapping on makeup, you really need to take your time and apply little by little and blend blend blend. You want to look subtle and perfect, not made up.

if i were you, i would fill in brows with a darker color.
eyes, go neutral and dark. taupe, chocolate, black. black liner and mascara.
lips, i would go strawberry or rosy. a nice warm, rich pink. choose something pigmented. or fuck, lately, i've been really liking the staying power of guerlain's kiss kiss glosses, the bigot can make a gloss, what can i say? i've been using them lately because i've looked so sloppy lately, and a fancy lip gloss makes me feel a bit closer to jesus.
on your cheeks, i would highlight. you can use a cream base if your skin isn't oily. i like cream bases in theory. in theory. yes. in theory, if i were you, i would highlight your malar region and the bridge of your nose with a cream base.
i would stay neutral with your blush too. i would use something dark enough to contour with and i would use it with a really light hand so that it barely showed.

find a youtube video that explains how to pin curl your hair. pin curl your hair. then you can wake up with bouncy shiny hair and nice curls.

you've got such a lovely canvas to work on, i'm not sure how you got bored toying with your look unless you decided that you were happy the way you are naturally and that it was a waste of time to fuck around with makeup and things, and in that case, i think that is rather admirable.

Wow! You are a serious natural beauty! You look just like all the models I see wandering around my neighborhood in lower manhattan. The one and only thing I could suggest to polish your look would be a deep conditioning treatment and gloss treatment to enrich the color and shine of your hair as well as a trim. That would make it look more like picture 2. Other than that you should check out the forums on model mayhem, the fashion spot and fordmodels.tv because they have professional makeup artists & stylists on those boards. We, for the most part, just have those people doing our hair & makeup for us.
As for going girl next door to glam, have you ever seen before pictures of celebrities? Most of them were seriously mousey and some downright ugly before the stylists and the surgeons stepped in so you are way ahead of the game.
To style your hair in the future I would use a heat protecting spray, for shine serum skinny serum by Paul Mitchell never goes greasy on me even if I use too much, and a little moroccan oil to the ends when they start drying out.
