Lightbulb planning a stripper swap meet

I have literally an entire closet filled with stripper shoes and outfits and lingerie that I never wear. Sure, some are too worn-out-looking for my standards, but many just never fit quite right, some are too hard to take off and put back on, some just aren't my style, etc. Surely I'm not the only one with this problem. What do you girls do with your lightly worn "rejects"?

I'd like to plan a stripper swap meet in New Orleans (my home city). Has anyone attended or planned such an event?

I'm thinking first I'd arrange to use the upstairs or back room of a downtown bar for an afternoon a few weeks in advance, then put fliers in dressing rooms of Bourbon St. clubs. Or maybe advertise more generally, billing it as an event for strippers, burlesque dancers, drag queens, and other fancy people to buy, sell, and trade supplies?

I'd especially like input from other New Orleans people.

I saw something on Yelp about a vintage swap/trade event. If you were to do this I would suggest seeing who on here is from NOLA and seeing what days work for them, and then hopping on Eccie and doing the same with the providers there, and then contacting some of the burlesque ladies via websites or yelp (I know there's a few troupes in Nola) and asking if they'd like to join up.

edit: and dear God, please post pictures if you get a huge swarm of women wanting to trade their lacy bits That is going to be a laugh riot.

I'm in Nola and would totally be into this. Since this summer crappier than usual, most girls I know are broke as hell and haven't splurged on new outfits in awhile. I am beyond tired of everything I own and I think I have more stripper clothes than regular clothes.
Also, Halloween is coming, maybe do costumes, too? I know everyone in this town probably has 10 different Halloween/Mardi Gras costumes.....
I think it would be important for wherever this takes place to have some sort of area for try-ons and full length mirrors.

All of my largish mirrors are attached to old furniture, but I'm guessing a long mirror is around $15 at Walmart, right?

I'm afraid a Halloweeny-costumey event, despite its obvious greater potential for awesomeness, might attract more tourist/uptown/carpetbagger/general public types and fewer normal strippers. I'm sure it can be done, and done well, but I'd personally prefer to organize a smaller gathering explicitly for industry people.

$15 sounds right, maybe Family Dollar would be even cheaper. Maybe just suggest for girls to bring their own if they have one thats easy to move. The person making the effort to organize shouldn't have to buy stuff, too!
Maybe there's a Bourbon sc with an area/floor/dressing room/etc that goes unused a certain night of the week that one of us could pull a favor to use.
That would solve the hell out of that problem!
As far as costumes, I was thinking of strippers coming to swap stripper stuff that also had Halloween gear laying around. If I was going to a stripper swap, I might not remember to bring a Little Red Riding Hood Cape I don't need anymore, but then kick myself later when I hear someone talking about Halloween.
I agree on keeping it to the industry. Civilians would have no milkshakes to bring to our yard, and I can just picture now a few overdressed nonstrippers in the corner, wearing beads, drinking hand grenades and loudly whispering about what giant sluts we are and their tits are better anyways!
(oops, snuck a rant in, my bad. Off to fetch my am coffee...)
