Who's going to watch?! I am. Makes me think all of us girls in the Stripperweb are in a secretclub, making more money than all of our friends lol.

Monday, September 19th 10/9c - "Pilot" (TV-14)
In Chicago in the early 1960s, a young woman seeking adventure as a Bunny in the glamorous world of the Playboy Club quickly finds herself in over her head.
On NBC
It's got a Sinatra song promoting it! Of course I'll be watching!
Seriously, I'd be interested in watching this (as well as Pan Am).
I've heard about flight attendants in the'60s as well as the actual Playboy club so it will be cool to see stuff like that in the tv shows.
Wikipedia page on the Playboy Bunny:

Book written by a former Bunny:

(This book is now on my Amazon wishlist!)
I know about the Bunny Dip - the way the Bunnies serve the drinks.
I've seen it demonstrated and the Bunny is facing away from the table. She sort of pivots and dips when she places the napkin and drink on the table.
I love stuff like this.
I have a copy of Coffee, Tea or Me?, which was written by former flight attendants.
It was first published in the '60s and was considered incredibly racy when it first came out.

I plan on watching Playboy Club. I'm givng up my Monday night shifts because it's football season, and guys don't come in to watch football at my club (tiny TV's, no sound or captions). So yay! I can watch it!

I've read articles where people automatically deem shows like these as sexist. I don't see that at all. Granted, a big part of their jobs was based on their appearance (and both companies had pretty strict guidelines around the appearance) but jobs like these gave women more career options besides housewife, nurse, teacher or secretary which were pretty much the only jobs available to women at the time.
(I'm not knocking the housewife, nurse, teacher or secretary. That's great for the women who wanted to become those things, but what happens to the women who want to do something else?)
And I think people these days have the tendency to immediately call something sexist if it involves a scantily-clad women or anything having to do with looks.
I think it depends on the context. Looks can only get you so far, and there's nothing sexist about a scantily-clad woman owning it and taking control of it.
ooh i wanna see this!![]()

I'm super excited about several shows coming out this fall: Playboy Club, PanAm, Once Upon a Time, and maybe Hell on Wheels. With this many new shows, I'm bound to be disappointed by some of them, but hey--won't know till I watch it.
^^ That's how I feel.
Besides Pan Am and The Playboy Club, I'm also interested in checking out 2 Broke Girls, Up All Night and Charlie's Angels.

I was talking about this topic with someone the other day because she was talking about her mom. Her mom grew up in the 50's and yes those were the options available to women. Now women can be anything.
My personal attitude is yes I suppose we can consider being a Playboy Bunny or a flight attendant somewhat sexist by today's standards (though now flight attendants can be married, men and overweight). My mom is beautiful and when she was in her 20's she went and applied to be a flight attendant. She was rejected simply because she wore contacts (you had to have 20/20 vision back then). I recently asked her why she didn't pursue something like a Playboy Bunny or a model and she didn't think she was pretty enough. She was quite simply a 10(she looked like a living Barbie doll naturally).
There is definitely a comparison between bunnies then and strippers now. While yes women have come far, we are still discriminated against. Because of that, many beautiful women use their looks to make more money than they would if they used their smarts (though I always say it's important to use your smarts along with beauty). Women especially back then knew they were making far more than they otherwise would have. I saw someone mention in the commercial that they make more than their father and that to me puts it in perspective.

when does it come out?
Can you watch it online?
If so, I will be watching it

I was actually talking about this with my mom yesterday. We were on the phone and she brought up the show thinking I would be interested in watching it. I told her I was.
The Pan Am people ran a recruiting seminar in my mom's hometown and a friend of hers went on to became a Pan Am stewardess.
I jokingly told her that I couldn't even imagine my grandpa letting her do something like that. She said he probably would if she wanted to, but she didn't. She and her friends went on to nursing school.
Those shows aren't completely free of sexism: a career mostly based on looks and the idea that the woman would leave the job once she got married is considered sexist.
At the same time, like I said, it did give women more options than the standard three or four. And there is only so far someone can go on her looks. Yes, she got the job because she's pretty, but there wouldn't be that many opportunities for her if she has the personality of a napkin.
So while there are some sexist aspects to it, it's not accurate to call the entire thing sexist.
I was looking for the book about the Playboy Club and couldn't find it. But I ended up buying this:
http://www.amazon.com/Summer-at-Tiff...6284231&sr=1-1
It's about the first two women hired at Tiffany & Co.
I want to watch his and Pan Am. It's nice to find a group of women who want to tune in as well!

wow looks cool, il see if i can watch online.
xoxo

I'll definitely check it out! I enjoyed Mad Men and will be interested to see this and Pan Am also.

Actually I read that Hefner is seriously considering opening the real Playboy Club again...right back in Chicago. I sure would apply too!![]()
I know there's a Playboy Club in Vegas. At the Palms.

Yeah it is.. He also has that big playboy themed suite there too. I think he has some investments in the place.

LOL...
Just watched it.. 2/5
The entire concept is cheesy. The storyline is so weak that within 30min a mob boss was killed by a strippers stiletto...
I won't be purchasing the seasons or break my neck to tune in for the next episode.
Many of the obstacles you once imagined are not even there.
♡♡
Did anyone catch the first episode tonight?! It was awesome! I loved it!!
As quoted by Luckyone:
I asked directions from a genie in a bottle of jim beam and she lied to me.
Methodus saved my life!
I'm waiting for a torrent to be put up so I can download it. God bless btjunkie and utorrent...

oh man! I missed it!
