I am quitting alcohol completely - not even one drop. It was very hard. But on Saturday night I did very well. But today I didn't. Has anyone quit alcohol at work after drinking for a while, and was able to handle it ok?

I began dancing at 18, and couldnt drink. Then when I was legal to drink, I drank and drank often about 4-6 drinks per shift. I loved it, and also felt like I NEEDED to drink while I was at work in order to make money and have a "better" night while talking to customers. I thought it made me more funner and outgoing with customers.
Now I rarely drink, maybe a drink or two a month! Its more boring I'll admit that, but it keeps me focused, plus that and I dont want to crash my car nor get my liscense taken away. The way I look it now is if guys want to buy me a drink, they could use that money to buy more dances or give me a tip. Find another option, such as having gum, water on you all times just in case you want to drink. You may be temped at first in a week you wont even realize what a change you did.

I took an 8 week break once... Sometimes it sucked but for the most part I made more money because I was more aware of who was spending and who wasn't. I had another 2 wk break once but cracked cause a lot of my customers are party boys and a few wouldn't book me while I was detoxing..bastards!

I'm needing to start doing this now.
I'm only working two nights a week at the moment but I usually drink a lot while I'm at work because I find it makes me more flirty and more money.
I'm feeling so unhealthy though and its taking me a few days to recover (not to mention eating more junk food because of my drinking) so I want to go back to no alcohol and heathy food every day for a month or two. I'm planning on dancing full time next year too and won't be able to do it drinking everyday.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Yup! I can do either now. And I really have no problem being sober. I've found the drunker they are, the easier it actually is sober.
Sorry I missed church. I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian.

Yes and it seems that when I do drink I feel retarded now. It is harder to put up with customers BS though but I still make the same.
I love waking up now without feeling dehydrated and actually having energy! Although I didn't lose any weight. I was really looking forward to that lol

I don't feel like I need to drink at work.
When I started I didn't drink a drop of alcohol for 6 months. Then, when I switched to a topless bar that served alcohol I would drink watered down shots (4-6/night) and have 2-3 watered down mixed drinks. Total it was probably more like 2 shots and 1 mixed drink, so I was never drunk or out of my element. I always stopped drinking at midnight, too.
I don't like drinking at work. It makes me feel like I am woozy and I don't feel as sexy. Being drunk has never helped me make more money.
If you are willing to do for one year what other's won't, you can spend a lifetime doing what other's cant.

I used to drink before and during work, and God I thought it was the only way I could make a decent amount of money. About a month ago I decided to stop drinking at work simply because my lifestyle outside the club involved a lot of drinking and partying, and I felt like shit because I was drinking 7 days a week. I actually started to make A LOT more money when I was completely sober. When I'm sober I don't waste time sitting around and chatting with people, and I stay focused on closing- I'm sharp and quick witted, and it helps. Plus, I can control the guys a lot better from being too grabby (and I'm in LA, they expect you to allow them to grab away at you). When I'm buzzed or drunk I can't always physically feel their hand creeping up my upper thigh, but when I'm sober I notice it immediately. I'll drink occasionally when it's slow at work, but I reap the benefits more when I'm sober.

I don't have to drink but I will. I rarely say no to drink offers. It is part of the job for me. Guys love a fun girl![]()

I had more fun when I was drinking before a busy weekend night. I rarely drink now and prolly come across too serious or not as happy sober at times when I cant fake my enthusiasm.

I've never been a drinker at work, except in VIP. I'm very flirty & sexual when I'm sober, no trouble at all dealing with customers.
Plus I like being in total control of the situation when I'm sitting with a guy. Drinking at work makes me feel out of control & vulnerable... no likey.
Edit: So yeah I still make money : ) My money always goes down when I come out of VIP drunk/tipsy... plus whenever I drink I do less work, more hanging out.

I never drink at work. At the bar that I'm at right now they have never seen me drunk (they have seen me lose lipped but that's really it) and they are always surprised when I order a drink. Mostly it's because a customer wants to buy me something. I'll get the drink, finish with the customer and bring the full glass back to the bar.
when I drink and feel it / get drunk I make less money because I am less aware of what is going on.

The main reason I left dancing for camming is that you literally need to be ON something to make good $$$. Whether that's alcohol, drugs, or PX drugs (adderall, etc.), every single money maker I've ever seen was on one of them whether they made it obvious or not. Unless you naturally have LOADS of energy all the time, it is very hard to recreate that.
Sadly, I always made the most money (by FAR) when I was on one of those, and I just didn't want to do any of them at all anymore. I lost a lot of customers when I tried to make excuses why I couldn't drink. There's only so much you can do to try to divert the customer from buying you a drink. Cocktail waitresses obviously push it. Even when I ordered something non-alcoholic, the customers, a lot of them time, just wanted to buy me more and more saying "these obviously are not strong enough! lets get you another one!" Feeling full off juice is not a good feeling, I thought. I might as well drink alcohol if I'm going to drink tons of juice.
Men like that intense, outgoing, bubbly personality. That's how most girls make money. 80/20 rule. 99% of the time, men usually want one of 4 girls:
1.) really fun and exciting
2.) like to party or drink
3.) really "slutty" or "horny" (obviously not really), so acting like you're drunk usually does the trick
4.) is really engaged and excited about their convo
All of those are achieved by being on something. Unless you're a really good actress and you enjoy acting & are motivated. Or maybe if you don't work very often it would be easy.
I really feel like it is impossible to act like that every work night for all 8 hours unless you're on something. Very few girls can achieve that naturally. And even then, the "bubbly" girls you think are not alcoholics/drug users a lot of the time, are. They are just really good at hiding it.
That's what I've noticed personally. The only way I can dance now is if I travel dance and know the date I'm going home. Kind of like a goal to motivate me.
Other options would be: 1.) to work in a club that doesn't serve alcohol. Watch out though, a lot of them can be really seedy or gross... because a lot of the time the emphasis is on "other things" (extras). Or 2.) work in a giant club that has tons of customers (think Vegas). You can bounce from customer to customer with a "fake" drink in hand or something.

Def do the fake cocktail thing or just always carry soda water and fruit in a glass. I did that and no one even asked me to have a drink because they thought I already had one.

I quit my last year after two years of getting shitfaced every night. Not only did my money go way up, but I lost 15 lbs in around 3 months without even trying.
Now that I'm retired, I still only drink a few times a year. I hate being drunk now, it makes me feel gross.

Yes, when I had to get clean after OD'ing I noticed my $$$ went up since it wasn't going down my throat or up my nose.

I do not drink at work. It really doesn't make any differences.

Im a top girl and usually one of the most sober girls at work. Sober to the point where managers had never seen me drunk until a yr into working at my club. But then again, im fun and exciting when sober.
If you need to be drunk you might need a break. For the month of june i was often drunk and my earnings took a dive.. Turns out i just needed a break. Im sure when i return in october i will clean house again while sober.
Eta: my rule is i only drink in the champagne room, and in there i do the switch-a-roo so the customer always has the fuller glass. Further incentive for customers to buy champagne and further incentive for me to sell. In clubs without champagne i work dead sober and do just fine.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.
i use to get trashed all of the time at work- mainly because i THOUGHT i needed it....then suddenly my body started changing in all the wrong ways..i quit drinking as much- i still might have a glass or two but thats it and believe it or not, i started making MORE money. i was more sensual and more in control.
I make more money not drinking. I am clear headed and do a quick sell as opposed to talking for waaaay too long. My money isn't that different but a definite improvement since quitting drinking. Anyone who thinks they need to drink t make money..is wrong. It is a very bad habit to get into and very hard to get out of. I learned the hard way. It' something I need to constantly remind myself of b/c habits aren't broken so easily regardless of what we know of their consequences.

I must say that a " Really straight " obviously completely Sober dancer is incredibly Sexy in my view . I can sure sea the reasons for " having a few drinks " ..But there certainly is a downside , and Its a rather large downside .
Its great to see the numbers here who have given up completely and are detoxing . Having given up the Booze myself , I certainly know how hard it is ..but its like anything , you will become accustomed to dancing Sober and I believe your income and your health will improve at the same time .
I have also seen this first hand .
Enjoy ... and Progress , Its all in the name of personal enjoyment

Hi Femme .... Just wish to congratulate you also . Promise you one thing , you want regret it . Its difficult but once you get used to working Sober ..you will probably ask yourself " How did I ever do this drinking ?"
Its a really wise decision , gives you total control and awareness ..You can do it ..plus you can make more $$$$$s ..No Doubt .
Wishing you well Hon ... Good luck , Great Decision !![]()

I have been finding that redbull has been a great replacement for alcohol, and even the act of holding it in my hand helps, is a great psychological replacement as well. Another great replacement - a huge smile, usually it's fake cuz it's hard to smile nonstop. Just smile like you mean it. I will just smile really big and guys think I'm happy and less intimidating.
