Default Novelty of being a stripper?

First of all, I just want to give a very big thank you to StripperWeb because I've been lurking for months now to learn everything I needed to know. I auditioned two nights ago and got the job and did okay for my first night.

Anyway, so I was going about my day and there were times where I would stop and think about how I'm actually a stripper now. It's kind of a neutral, surreal feeling probably because since I just started. Sorry I couldn't articulate myself any better. Has anyone experienced this kind of feeling as well (or something like it)?

Yeah. It floored me all over again after I finally told some family about it. All the questions they ask, and when you answer them its like it hits you all over again. The thing I don't like is how they just assume its super cool. Its fun, but I try to not glamorize it.

Sometimes when I am out with my daughter and people interact with me, or in class wearing jeans and a tee and my glasses, I wonder if they'd ever imagine that I can be a sexy stripper, I kinda get a kick out of it.

Hahahaha omg! I feel the exact same way! I was in class today, wearing my glasses and an oversized t-shirt (looking like a total dork) and I was wondering the exact same thing! I was thinking "Man these guys have NO idea."

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. How long did this feeling last for you?

I've been dancing for almost four months now. Hasn't worn off, lol. Imagine this, I was taking a critical thinking and ethics class when I started dancing. Speaking of morals stripping came up...... awkward. Then we were talking about gender and identity today in my lit class. Sometimes I just bite my tongue in fear that I may spill the beans by giving my honest 2 cents. Haha.

Its kind of fun in a way, having a little secret. Secrets are always fun!

I don't think the novelty ever REALLY wears off. I embrace it. Lol, the look on people's faces when I tell them...especially men. Like a guy I sit next to in class who I can tell has a crush on me, and was all puppy-dog because I'm smart, and he was always gushing about it. And the look on his face when I told him I was a stripper...shock, then awe, then I swear he got a hard-on God, I love this job. This is something I'm going to look back on when I'm 90 and be like, "Damn straight."

Novelty hits me on a fabulous money night. It's like "Wow, dude for real, all these people just paid cash to be alone with me or even to just watch me". But honestly, that's the only time there's any "novelty".

You know, I feel like since I started dancing, stripping comes up ALL THE TIME whenever I'm around. I never remember people discussing it before I started dancing...but now, it comes up in random conversations, during classes, constantly. I usually stay silent for a bit and, amused, listen to what people have to say about it.

^^ So true! I feel like everywhere I go lately, hear some nasty comments about strippers... I'm like "Damn, did people really always make fun of strippers this much?"

I don't think people IRL can tell with me either. It's fun and my little secret lol

This happened to me toward the end of the night during my last set. I was so surprised how guys kept tipping me just for wiggling my butt a little. And I was getting a little lazy toward the end lol!

I've been dancing 9 years and I still love the feeling of being a dancer. I get butterflies every time I go onstage, I looove dressing up and I love the positive attention and men showering money on me. It's def a huge ego boost As dancers we are offered many opportunities that other people never get a chance at. We meet successful people who are very willing to give us things/jobs/etc... We also get to meet famous people within the clubs (if you're lucky). I love dancing! Sure there's the negative aspect of it but I think the positives far outweigh the negatives most of the time.

Honestly, it'll make your blood boil, and half the time I'm in a place where I can't even say anything to the contrary, which makes my blood boil even more.

Yep. At my current vanilla job, I swear the subject of strippers/stripping comes up several times a week. It's almost always in a derogatory manner. I'm usually very open about stripping, but after weeks of hearing these disparaging remarks, I made the conscious decision to lie last night when someone asked me a question where the honest answer would have had to reveal my stripping at the local club in the past. It really sucks to be trying to get along with a group of people you have to see every day (coworkers from another job, classmates, etc) and you never feel comfortable because, deep down, you know that they think that "people like you" are trash.

I try not to let strangers' comments get to me, and I do get a boost having the little secret to myself when others are looking at me thinking I'm just a plain, quiet, shy girl. But, when you start to hear these comments more, it will affect how you feel you can relate to people

I've been dancing for 7 years, and it still gets me at times. Normally, it hits me when I am going to a non-adult work social event, like a social I have to go to for my husband's work, like a military ball or somesuch event. I love the feeling.

"I'll keep you my dirty little secret" comes into my head, lol. Makes me giggle

Hehe... My first weekend was this past one. The day after, one of my friends brought up how I had mentioned I might try it out a couple of weeks ago. She went on a long story about how she had been to one once as a customer and knew I totally couldn't handle it, would run out crying, and be scarred for life.

And then my brother told me he'd disown me if I were a cocktail waitress -.- Guess we won't be having any close chats anytime soon...

sorry, I know this is OT, but I love your avie Lokikola. LOL have you had to deal with jealousy in the past? Here's one I've heard of: jealousy is a disease. Get well soon.

    Just thought I'd mention that.
