hes 1 r old, neutered male cat i had for almost a year.
hes been successfully toilet trained and trained against peeing on peoples beds when hes angry.
for the last month or so he developed a new problem. he sleeps in the room next to mine and between3am-6am he repeatedly meows, claws and runs into the door. i used to think he did this coz he was hungry once so i went and fed him but he wasnt hungry he did it again and wanted to go outside [the room hes in has the back door to the house]
so i let him out the first time thinking it was a one time thing so he now does this every night. a few weeks ago i stopped letting him out and punishing him with a spray bottle of water whenever he does it. he used to stop and go back to sleep, now he attacks the door, i spray him, he goes quiet, 20mins later he attacks the door again and i spray him again. sometimes this happens 5 times a night and its not as effective a punishment it once was. sometimes i just put him outside but he meows at the front of the house and my mum lets him in.
how do i train him to stop it? do i find a different punishment method, but something on my door... what?
x
