Dizzy Do I look like a Desperate Dancer!!? O_O

    Soo...I'm a newb&& I'm in Houston *Pause*

Now that we've gotten that out of the way.. I'm trying to find a club that is a good fit for me, and I have one in mind, but I dont know if they are giving me the runaround&& and if I look commited or desperate. =/

I went there a few weeks ago, the manager very frankly looked at me and asked if I was black-I told him I was mixed&& what I was mixed with. He says, "Very exotic, You're too cute ____. But I only run a total of 3 "sisters" per shift. I just hired a new girl, but she's kinda ... "you know" [I took it to mean ghetto...] , so come back in a few days and see me."

I went back, he told me to come back in a week. I did.
He told me to come back in two days I did.
He told me to come back in two days. I did not. [While I'm buring gas going to him and getting turned away I could be somewhere making money.]

About a week ago I went back, and he smiled and told me again to come back Friday-a dfference manager would be there this time-if that manager didnt hire me, he'd start me on Tuesday. Well--Friday, the manager told me it was slow and he had too many girls, to come back Saturday. I couldnt make it Saturday--so I went back Tuesday. The ORIGINAL manager--the one who told me so many times to come back&& said I'd start Tuesday told me to come back THURSDAY&& he'd def. start me.

I'm #lowkey irritated because I could have been hired elsewhere, but I do want to work at that place. I'm not even sure it's where BIG SPENDERS go, I'm just confortable starting out there and I'm sure decent spenders go there. Should I even go back though??? Like really, I've been there so much the door girl knows me. Lol. She's like "Hey girl..I'll go get the manager." I'm just like... would YOU ladies go back after they gave you the runaround so many times--- am I not getting the effin hint! Lol. HELP!!!!

I would probably go back one more time, and if they tell you to come back again later - I would go try another club. I would keep checking back on the initial club, but not every two days...maybe like once every two weeks or something like that. They could be trying to give you the run around or they could just be confused and have hiring difficulties right now with different managers being responsible for hiring.

I would call on Thrusday, and confirm with him whether you are working there or not, better than driving and wasting more time. If he says come back another time, tell him you have put enough time and effort into coming in and if you are not working that day you will not be coming back.

If you're new start off with a divey club, look your best that will most likely get you hired. Higher end clubs are more pickier and dont usually like taking in newbies.

If its somewhere you really wanna work id try it out again but start looking and working at other places. Just reading this post reminds me of my own situation and how hard it is out there for black/mixed race chicks. At least he was straight up with it. Some places will give you the runaround without even telling the reason why.
    On Top.

Thanks Ladies!! Okay, I have some kind of sense of direction now as far as what to do next.

@Italy-I most certainly wont be playing his "come back in 2days" game anymore.

@Kisca -- and I'm definitely going to try calling--I tried on Tuesday, but the "personal number" he game me was like to a hotel room extension or something. I dunno. I will be calling the club on Thurs. beforehand though.

@missy- Ugh, I try not to play the race card because I know men like all flavors, lol. But I do feel like it's harder to get in. Like not only do I have to be cute enough, but I have to convince you I'm not gonna come in and act ghetto&& dance to Lil Jon&& fight etc... [IMHO]

@Camille--I think I actually prefer them telling me that.Like Missy said-at least he was straight up. Tell me the truth, I'm a big girl. Maybe not like, "We dont hire black girls" >.< but something along how he told me. And I think it had bit to do with the type of club I applied at-Its a nice little neighborhood place. Not quite a dive, but def not High Class. More of a blue collar-mixed clientele white/hispanic. I guess I took it as an OK to the kind of club I wanted to work at. Lol, never been one to want to go to Harlem Kights or Onyx.

i wouldn't say youu look desperate
me personaly i wouldn't go back if i've gone there so much that the door girl knows me but i don't work there that a red flag & a waste of time but if it's somewhere u really want to work at keep playing his little come back game good luck though

I think that a lot of girls have a problem with not really wanting to move club to club for some reason. Unless the clubs in your city have rules about only working one place or another, check out other ones to see what they're like.

it's a mistake that a lot of new girls make. Don't be afraid to move around and find the club that works for you.

Sooo... today was the day I was supposed to go back&& start. I dont think I'll be going back.

Funny how that played out-- I started my wonderful benefit of being a woman today. >.<
I know it may sound silly to some of you ladies who have been dancing for ahwile, but I'm just 1000% against starting dancing while I'm PMSing. Bleh.
I dont even think I will regularly dance while I'm PMSing. But this is not about that...Lol.

So I guess I wont be going back--or to any other club until I'm done with this.

@BringOnTheMen --Eh, yes&& no. I stay just on the outskirts of Houston, and there is only ONE major club over here [St. James] The rest are little SUPERdives[lol] that aren't worth working in[IMHO]. So the club I've been trying to get at is middle class--not a dive, the next closest club that I'm okay with--not too far [ I wouldnt care about the drive but I have a vanilla job. Monday-Fri. 8-5pm. Lol. So when I work night shift, if it's on the other side of town I'd get off at 2, get out by 2:30, make it home by 3:15, in bed by 3:30-4 && back up at 7:00 to get ready for my day job. Bleh.] The opposite side of town is where you find MensClub, Treasures, Onyx even.

But it looks like ^^^^ those are all excuse I'm making for not going to the other small clubs around here. Hmph. Stupid small clubs.I guess I'll have to pull my head out my butt and go check out some other clubs AFTER I'm recovered. Lol.

    THANKS LADIES!!!!
Ugh, if only all women were as smart as strippers. Lol.

I dance in Houston and have danced at several clubs in the area over the past year. Have you tried Splendor? It's on the northside and not too shabby.

He is rejecting you, for whatever reason and I wouldn't bother going back either. Some managers like to play games to see if you're going to fall for it.

Yea he's def playing games with u. Quite frankly I woulda quit goin back after getting the "come back..." line for the 2nd time. Or atleast go find a different club and check back with that club a few MONTHS later at the least.

In college one of my roommates got the runaround just like u did but it was for a retail job not a stripping job. The guy kept making excuses about why he "didnt have any job apps" for her to fill out which is fishy sinse the place was advertising to be hiring at that location in the local newspapers. Plus, when she offered to give him her contact info in the meantime he told her there was no need for that, just come by in a few days when more apps arrive "from the truck". Well she went back like 4-5 times, playing into this jerk manager's game, and then on the 5th visit some girl said "were not hiring, who told u that?? Oh ur referring to the ad in the paper? They just hired people." so here the manager had no intention of even letting her apply, let alone hire her. I guess he just found it amusing to see someone actually so dedicated to some crummy retail job and found it funny to lead her on and see her sweat over it. Don't let that manager make a fool of u like what happened to my roommate.

Hey Ladies... bleh, I stayed off SW this weekend--made me sad to think of the money I could be getting. But I'm back at it now =)

@kthnx && Katrina --Yeah, I'm done.com Like I said, I wont be going back to that place---at least not for a couple months. If they get lucky. Lol. Money to be made elsewhere!

@cocainepr3tty--I'm glad it's not just me. Lol. I was like--well, they'll just be missing me for a few days out of the month.

@bunny I haven't tried splendor's--I'll check it out. I dont know much about it--like I dont know their standards for girls, the clientele, how busy it gets, the pace or anything-- Nada-but it looks nice and since it has your vote, I'll check it out. Thanks! =)

I'll let you all know how the club search goes&& of course my first night. Thanks again&& wish me luck&& big bucks!

Off topic, but what you described is illegal. All businesses are required by law to have job applications to be filled out weather or not they are hiring. It is illegal to not have job applications.

^ yea it seems that way but unfortunately some places do it anyway. That girl prolly shoulda reported them to the labor board insteada keep going back every week like a doormat, then unassertively stomping her little feet about it in the privacy of her dorm when no one from the store was around

I think the grocery chain was called aldies

To be totally honest. I'd say screw it. They didn't see your beauty and talent right off the bat so they don't deserve it. And also, if they're gonna hire you, they would've done it on the spot. It sounds like you ran into a manager too nice to say no and he's probly hoping you'll just give up. If its a place you really want to work though then I guess keep going back, they might wear out before you do.

You do not look desperate and screw him , i so agree with camille i wouldn't want to work for someone like that. I am sure you are very talented and can find someone much better to work for.
