    Question Chronic Infections- Part II

So last time i posted, I was having chronic yeast infections alternating with BV. I changed my diet to very low sugar and carbs, caffeine free, getting more exercise and enough sleep, switching to coconut oil for lube (and to cook with) and making sure all my toys and camming clothes are extra clean. I still have yeast infections. I wake up with them every morning and then douche with apple cider vinegar and water to clear them up (clears them up until the next morning). Now, on top of my chronic yeast infections i have a urinary tract infection. I don't know how I got it, I haven't had sex in days. I am also on my period.

I have a doctors appointment next week. At this point i'm so exhausted trying every remedy known to wo/man. I'm sure he's going to give me anti-biotics which will trigger a whole new round of yeast infections which I have not been able to cure with prescription meds that i've been given to treat it.

My question is: are these infections all related? is it stress related possibly? what tests should i ask for? should i tell my doctor what my occupation is (web cam)? i hate doctors visits and i want to make sure i make the most out of this one. I just don't know what to ask. the last thing i want is no testing, no answers and more prescriptions. thanks ladies!

    HI,
I have never posted before but I saw your thread and thought that I might be able to help. Do you take oral birth control? If you do, I might have an answer for you.

For over three years, I had yeast and bladder infections that would not go away.

I went to several doctors and had multiple tastes done, but on one could figure out what was wrong with me. They all said that everything looked perfectly healthy and there was no reason it should be happening to me.

I quit my job because of the pain and the fact that, on some days, it got so bad that I had to go to the bathroom every five minutes.

What was happening was the yeast infections would make my urethra swell and that would cause the bladder infections.

I got sick of not getting any real answers after being put on a six month prescription of antibiotics because my doctors couldn’t think of anything else to do. I started looking around online for answers and I am so glad I did.

After just a few days, I found a connection that my doctors had missed or did not know about. I read several different stories from women who had almost the same symptoms that I did. I found out that some women are very sensitive to the estrogen in their birth control. It causes a hormonal imbalance, which can lead to yeast infections.

I found a home remedy for the yeast infections that works so much better for me than the store bought. I just use sugar free yogurt for about a week and I feel a lot better. I also stopped taking my birth control and I have not had a bladder or bad yeast infection since.

If you don’t use birth control, you still might want to try to yogurt to see if that does anything for you. The webcaming might be upseting your hormonal imbalance for some reason.

I hope that helps and you feel better soon!

You need to make sure you don't have an abnornal pap smear. Get a full exam and pay extra for them to do blood tests and test you for every STD possible. I would request it (pay extra if you have to) every 6 months. And I would check if you have HPV. You may have underlying autoimmune issues (where your immune system attacks healthy cells in random parts of the body thinking they are bad invaders). If you have eczema, psoriasis, arthritis, asthma, lupus, autism (I am going to include this so some people will not agree), fibromyalgia, or any other sort of chronic infection / autoimmune thing, then that is probably why it is occurring. They are related. I don't care how many doctors try to disprove me on that one.

I am in the same position as you. Same issues, and now my pap smears have been abnormal since 2009 but they won't do anything else for me. I've never had HPV (that I know of, and I've been tested), but I know it can come and go. It is annoying and scary. I just don't want to end up like Jade Goody or something.

    hi,

i used to have the exact same problem i ended up being diagnosed with vaginismus. all the misdiagnosed yeast infections (which may have started off with a real yeast infection, who knows) sent the pain receptors in my junk mad. i i kept thinking it was thrush, and treating it madly with a variety of methods, but it was actually chronic pain.

unfortunately this made matters worse. one of the possible causes of vaginismus is actually overtreating thrush. it would be worth asking a knowledgable doctor about this possibility as it's often overlooked. most doctors misdiagnose this conditions as chronic thrush or dermatitis. most doctors don't even know about vaginismus :/

on a side note, i use condoms on all my toys to prevent thrush. simply washing or disinfecting them wont make a difference if there's any fungal spores present, especially because most toys are porous. this has an added benefit - if you ever drop a toy on the floor (i do all the time cuz i'm clumsy like that) you don't have to stop a show to clean the toy or use another toy, just chuck a fresh condom on.

good luck. problems like this can become debilitating physically and emotionally so i really hope you can kind a solution. xoxo

i forgot to mention... the same fabulous doctor who diagnosed my vaginismus had me on a 6 month treatment plan of fluconazole (the thrush treatment you take orally, it's marketed as diflucan in australia, so it might have a different brand name in the US). i took it weekly for about a month and then fortnightly for the rest of the 6 month period. only do this under your doctor's advice, but if they're into this strategy perhaps consider buying your pills from a reputable online pharmacy. it's an expensive treatment plan, but it will blast away systemic and chronic yeast infection issues. and it avoids topical treatments and douches which may be confusing / aggravating your genital pain receptors. take probiotics and eat healthily while doing this because this med can be harsh on the gut. xxx

Stress can make you more susceptible to all types of nonsense to include causing flare-ups of ongoing infections/conditions.

Not saying that lowering your stress level would STOP whatever's happening... but high stress could be making things worse.

This is not normal. Take it from someone who had almost 50 UTIs in one year (yep, almost one a week). I switched doctors, was diagnosed with a chronic disease and now have it under control. I'd venture to say all your symptoms are related.

And YES! Tell your doctor about your occupation, your dietary changes, as well as all homeopathic or OTC medications you're using. Doctors need all this information to make an accurate diagnosis.

I would stop douching every day like that for a week or so and see if there's a change. Even though it's acidic douche, you are still messing with the bacterial/yeast balance. You are supposed to have "good" bacteria and a small amount of yeast in your vaginal flora.

The word infection is really a bad way to describe it because some yeast is normal and wanted. It's not really an infection but an imbalance. What is really happening is the good bacteria is lower than it should be and the yeast is higher than it should be. Washing it all out every single day seems to me a bad thing to be doing. Your natural vaginal secretions moisturize and soothe the vagina and you are doing away with them daily like that.

Maybe giving douching a rest will allow things to normalize somewhat with taking the probiotics and the other things you are doing.
