I have light brown/brown hair, and I reeealllyyyy want to go DARK. maybe even black. I discussed this with some distant co workers, and she told me not to do it because guys prefer light colored hair in the club. Is this potentially true?

Have you went from light to dark hair and noticed a sufficient drop in your income?

Or, Have you always been dancing with dark hair, and make as much or more than the other girls?

    Thanks!

Blonde is kind of universally appealing, but the idea that 'guys' only like light hair is a lot like saying that Americans only like pepperoni pizza.

I never danced blonde. I had black hair, red hair, natural brown hair, but never blonde. I made plenty of money and had plenty of fun.

It will all depend on how you feel with your new hair color and how it will look with your eye/skin color.

Guys preferring lighter haired girls=/=not true. Every guy has different tastes. Heck, I had male friends who had told me they had rejected plenty of women just because they were blonde (despite that they were pretty nice)!

I've worried this is true, since after dying my hair brown (my natural color) after being blonde, many people have told me they miss the blonde (all guys). But whatever. I think it's true that the "blonde-haired, big-boobs" look gets more attention in SCs, but that doesn't mean that men dislike dark hair or wouldn't find you hot. At my old club, I was one of 3 girls who had blonde hair. I occasionally snagged a custy that was really into blondes, but it's not like we 3 were the only ones making money. The redheaded girls got customers that really like redheads, the Mexican girl really appealed to the guys that liked the "exotic" look... Everyone will have their fans. If dark hair looks good on you, go for it!

Well if that was true I would be shit out of luck, black girls with blonde hair don t seem to go over well lol plus bleach blonde is such a hard color to maintain. Dark hair suits a lot of people. That's why a lot of people have it. Hair color doesn't seem to affect my money as much as a bad hair cut.

I've always been a brunette though I did try blonde once and it looked awful on me. Yes, many men rejected me for this. I remember one night in particular where it was me and something like 5 blondes. Of the blondes, one was obese and the other was homely as sin. The other three ranged from a plain blonde, to two with fake boobs. Anyway these guys came in and bought dances from the other girls but kept saying no to me. Finally the one guy said to me to stop bothering because I wasn't blonde. I never got why men would rather pay a fat ugly blonde than a hot brunette but yes saw this a lot. Many clubs allow blondes to get away with more than anyone else. Clubs that would turn down a woman who was slightly chubby would take her if blonde.

However, there are men who prefer brunettes. There are men who prefer everything. Some men don't have a hair color preference they go by other things like bodytype, height, tattoo size (or lack of them), hair length (had a few who loved that I had very long hair), and many other things. I even had a customer who only bought dances from girls who danced to alternative.

So if guys don't like dancers with dark hair then why do they drool over kim kardashian?

pshhh do what makes you feel good and sexy, that is what will make you money.

some guys will like it, some guys won't, same goes for every other hair color.

I bleach my hair blonde cuz that's what makes me feel sexy. If i'm having great convo with a custie i'll show him a pic of my natural hair color (dark brown), and 9 times out of 10 they say they like that better. so what? they still get dances and give me money. i feel more sexy with my blonde and the confidence i get from it sells way more dances than just having brown hair.

do what you want, when you like how you look and feel good about yourself, that is more than half of what makes a guy spend $$ on you for... not ur hair color.

That is so subjective to the individual customer & dancer. You can't listen to what somebody else says, you just have to experiment & see for yourself what YOU like and what brings you the most money.

Well, I prefer dark haired ladies myself... So does my boyfriend (and he's a guy so that's probably more helpful).

If you are really concerned about it, maybe you could dye your hair whatever you want and wear a wig at work?

Blonde hair has always been valued highly because of its relative genetic rarity and association with European dominant culture. It continues to be so these days, even now that it's not so rare. It carries a whole bunch of associations that most people have no idea they're making about prosperity, quality and value.

It's interesting to see what part of an idea survives long past its original context. The notion of blondes as less intelligent is fairly new, and I believe has nothing to do with natural blondeness, but with bleach-blondes, specifically because women who colored their hair used to be considered lower-class and vulgar. The style took root (heh) in the 20's and 30's as America became enchanted with moving pictures.

Hollywood's obsession with blonde hair and slim figures wasn't a conspiracy to make normal women feel bad about themselves, either. Rather, when film was a young medium, lighter hair showed up better onscreen, showing off the actress' hairstyle. Clothes on very slim figures photograph better as well.

The upshot of all this is that blondes are held in particularly high regard by many men, for all they represent as much as for the way they look. But even if 51% of all gentlemen prefer blondes (although who in their right mind would overlook Jane Russell, even when she's standing next to Marilyn, is beyond me), that other 49% is nothing to sneeze at. It's also more difficult to make oneself distinctive as a blonde among blondes.

I think it's also true that the fondness for blondeness ( ) as part of an erotic commodity package is different than an actual personal preference. A man who gets dances from big-breasted blondes might be very happily married to a long, lean brunette.

I had blonde hair for a long long time. Now I have raven black hair with blood red streaks. Not sure if it's because I was the only goth girl or not but I was a top earner.

In my experience, guys love hot brunettes.

Random side note: One reason that has been suggested for why blondes get more attention is do to with simply being more visible.

Lighter colors actually "reach the eye" before darker colors do. Especially in a darker room (like a club) a light color (like blonde) is seen before a dark color. Its easy to confuse noticing someone first with having a stronger attachment to them, which could explain (in part) the overwhelming success of blonde dancers!

Although actually, I would guess that its because men go to strip clubs for a fantasy to be fulfilled, and for whatever reason, the very common fantasy is the tall thin blonde with big boobs and small brains....

I was a dancer and I had black hair and I banked! I have naturally blue eyes that really 'pop' with black hair. I say go with whatever suits you and makes you feel sexy, because hair colour doesn't matter zilch if you are not oozing confidence!

The top earners at all the clubs I've ever worked at were smoking hot brunettes. But in my area, the whole guidette look is the Thing, so there aren't many blondes around. I realized today that I'm the only blonde in two of my classes.

I'm naturally medium blonde but I dyed my hair dark for years. It has more to do with your confidence level than anything else. Whomever up there mentioned light eyes that pop with dark hair is right on. I have grey eyes, and with my hair super dark people really notice them.

As long as your hair is well groomed, healthy and the color suits your skin tone then I don't think it would really matter if you went darker. Depending on your coloring, you may need to focus more on your tan if you aren't naturally a dark-brunette so that you don't look washed out. But as far as "guys don't like dancer's with dark hair"-I believe there is no truth in that!

I've danced for years with naturally long, black, what my friend calls "wog" hair & I've never had complaints/problems with it. Confidence is key, and if something suits you, you can work with it regardless of whether it's typically attractive or sexy. I work in Australia too, where most guys do say they prefer the blondes & beach bunny types lol.

If you do go darker & don't feel confident at first then you can always double team with a blondie and sell the "ebony & ivory" duo . I'd say try it, as you can always dye it again later if you need/want to.

As long as you have your hustle down & your sexy on-you'll bank

LOL I hustled with a blonde girl for years, she used to always say " get some salt and pepper on your steak" while I thought the line was kinda tacky guys would laugh and totally eat it up. I also had a guy one time say that it doesn't matter what color hair you have if your personality shines through. I do find that while I am often passed up for the barbies ( fake everything and bleached blonde) alot of wealthy and more gentleman like men prefer my dark hair and pale skin, it's more classic!

What looks good on you is a really important factor.

Dark browns are a better option than black, btw, as black normally looks very harsh and clearly fake on people with a light natural color.

It might be helpful to take into account your location and the kinds of customers you are catering to: I look awful as a blonde, but always easily make twice as much than I ever have as a brunette. This is simply because a bulk of my customers are Japanese men(customers) and I am dancing in an area where blondes aren't abundant(location).

It's an individual thing. Personally, I appeal to a wider customer base with dark hair. So that's what I try to stick to. Maybe wear a wig before commiting to the dye? Test the waters so to speak.

I will never forget this 18 year old, beautiful blonde who worked at my club crying in the DR about "bitches who ain't even pretty making bank."

Its 90% psychological and 10% physical.

I've been blonde, brunette, redhead, etc....hell, even rainbow! Not kidding! The only difference I noticed income was rainbow, for obvious reasons lol. I've often felt the way you're feeling though, and. This is what I've noticed:

Blondes get tipped more on stage...MUUUUCH more.

They usually get selected for promotional options such as modeling for the club website.

And the drunk bachelors/frat boys eat that shit up.

Note that these are 3 of the least profitable avenues of the club. Its unlikely you would make a GREAT living doing relying on any of them.

Now, I'm NOT saying that blondes actually make less...I'm saying those are the only customers I've never really had any luck with simply because I'm not blonde.

Let me assure you, men like women, period. Black, white, blonde, brunette, natural or implants. Theiddle aged y just love tits and ass. We're talking about very shallow, very simple minded people when it comes to the subject of sex. So I would say focus more on stroking their big egos than changing your hair color and you'll be fine.

If not....wigs are also a good investment. I use them to work in more upscale clubs.

I also cover up my tattoos from time to time, just depending on who my demographic is....like, if I'm selling to middle aged men. But my gorgeous arm piece made me hella good money during bike week! See, it just depends on who the big spenders are that night....and its hardly ever the stupid frat boys.

I'd say guys prefer LONGER hair of any color. I went from short blonde to long black and upped my money.

I think it's an individual preference. I wore my hair blond and at times dark. I never saw a major difference. I think it was more how I felt about it than the guys.

I agree with this. I used to live in an area that was pretty much entirely hispanic and jewish, so the whole blonde thing really did get more attention because it just wasnt common.

Now that I'm back in the North East, I'm not dancing at the moment but I get more attention in my classes with my dark brown natural hair color-the exotic look.

Also, it depends on whats more flattering, not everyone looks good blonde or brunette. Google pics of nelly furtado blonde, and you will see what I mean.
