Default Dildos should not be used for more than 10 hours a week

    Hi Ladies,

Just came across this short article, apparently you should only use dildos/vibrators no more than 10 hours a week, or it can cause damage to your kidneys and bad for your health overall, is this acurrate?

It says the problem is that "Dildo's and vibrators are mostly made from plasticisers such as phthalates or nonylphenol"... and THAT'S what causes the problem.
So if you aren't using sex toys made with those materials... like, if you chose a glass toy (I'm just going to assume here that there aren't plasticisers in glass toys, don't quote me on that)... I'd imagine that'd eliminate the risk.

She doesn't cite anything, like an actual statement from the Food and Drug Administration. I'm guessing she just heard it somewhere. It's true that there are materials out there that are not so good to shove up your lady bits, but that's why we look for those made without the harmful chemicals. Higher grade rubbers and plastics should not be a problem.

I have a bit of a stupid question...would putting a condom over a toy made out of the "questionable materials" protect you from the ill-effects?

That's not stupid... and yes. The materials poison you by direct contact. Putting a condom on them will dramatically reduce the risk of contact! It's a smart idea girly, don't sell yourself short.

my question is..what are the best and safest toys (dildos/vibrators)? MY last toy was phthalate and latex free and said to be environmentally safe and hypoallergenic HOWEVER it still had a strong smell..I soaked it in vinegar and hot water and the smell cease after a month use..wondering if it still contained not so safe chemicals hence the smell.

honestly glass and 100% silicone toys are the way to go! I have toys that say pthalate free and everything and still smell rank of chemicals and make my vag upset (I'm super sensitive down there tbh). I plan on buying recycling some of these shitty toys (there are a few websites that you can donate to and you get sex toy credits and getting some glass and silicone stuff soon.

If we aren't allowed to pound away at our vag for more than 10 hours then we also obviously must have to do away with cock as well. Teehee.

The issues tend to be one of two problems:

1 - the actual contents of the toys cause a reaction - this is when you are using jellies, cheap plastics, etc. With these, I have found that using condoms is AMAZING. My healthcare worker told me to try it, and I went from having a sore, swollen, sensitive vag, to having no problems AT ALL.

2 - the use of toys rubbing up against your urethra can increase the risk of UTIs. This isn;t what the article is talking about - and is only an issue depending on anatomy and technique. This can still be an issue with glass toys, or (gasp) actual real penis!!!

In short - use good quality toys, use good water based lube, put condoms on cheaper toys, and dont rub shit up against your urethra!
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

Not a stupid question at all. I use condoms on my toys. Even the smaller and odd shaped vibrators, I try to make a condom fit some how lol. You can get HUGE bulk quantities of condoms on Ebay for dirt cheap. Some are expired or close to expiration, but they still work fine to cover toys.
