    Tired Half-Priced Dance Nights???

So what’s the general consensus about half-priced dance nights and other club-mandated discounts? My club just started doing this Monday night drink/dance special where every type of dance is discounted: cheapo floor dances, booth dances, even VIP. So a $30 floor dance costs $20 and leaves me with $10, a $150 booth costs $100 and leaves me with $50, etc.

Yes, it is easier to sell dances on Monday nights and yes, the average number of customers triples on Monday nights, but I still think that this is absolute bullshit. I also seem to be the only dancer at my club who feels this way.

    Thoughts?

It seems to vary by who you ask.
Most dancers on the board seem to share your opinion.

I, however, find it's easier to coax men who are on the fence about dancing with you to buy dances and become regulars who also come in on normal priced dance nights. So it can be beneficial. BUT... any club I've ever worked at that had 'discount nights' also used to cut the songs shorter so that you were doing less dancing for the cheaper price.

I have to agree. Discount nights suck balls. But Desuv has a point, more money can be made overall on those nights. It really depends on your area and what kind of customers you get though.

A club I used to work at would do $1 dances. Everyone would turn their chairs away from the stage and towards the center of the floor and the girls would walk around and do a short dance for $1. The songs were maybe 30 seconds long and it did tend to loosen up wallets.

I had mixed feelings about it. I did try to be positive about it by considering that it was $6 made instead of a $10 floor dance, so at $4 it wasn't that big a loss. Usually I'd pick up a few regular dances after it plus make more on stage if I went up after so I made that loss back.

I will say that when clubs cut my VIP money in half though that I'm infuriated. I would have sold a VIP anyways, making me lose $10-$15 per dance helps no one. The math does not work out so well there.

Most of the girls at my old club hated half-price dance night - some would even refuse to give dances because they didn't think it was worth it. They would just have the guys buy them drinks all night. I'm the exact opposite, however. I loved half-price dance night. I always sold the most dances those nights and it was usually my highest money-making night. Good or bad hustler, it's always easier and quicker to get a guy to agree to 2 $10 dances than to one $20 dance. I could sit for 5 minutes trying to convince a guy that $20 really is worth it for a dance, and still possibly get rejected, or I could get him excited right away by the idea that he was getting an awesome 2 for 1 deal, and only people who are die-hard cheapskates seem to think that $10 is still too "pricey." I sold more dances and made more money than I did on regular nights. And half-price dance day was one of our slowest days! I would honestly do better on a Sunday, doing a quick hustle for cheap dances than I would on a Saturday trying to hustle the "expensive" dances.

Sounds alright to me. My club has a lot of cheap food/drink sales so a lot of girls are confronted with only making 60 bucks and in the rules it says sales are up the entertainers and I'm starting to think only discount dances sell there because one day I gave a regular a discount and I left with 200 a while most left with 80 and under.

Are they making the house fee half priced for the girls on those nights as well? My guess is probably not -management never considers shit like this, but they should.

They do two for one dances all day one day at my club. I just don't work that day.

A club I'm going to tonight does two-for-one dances every hour on the hour -.- I don't know much about it otherwise, and I'm sure it's better than where I am now, but every hour..? That's irritating.

I second the notion that house fees should be lower on discount days.

I worked at a club that had half price dance nights ($10 instead of $20), but there was no house fee, free dinner, and dances were super easy to sell. I'd often go home with $400-500 but it was HARD work!!!

I'd be outraged. Especially if it was mandatory.

i'd prefer one night a week being a discount all night than a club with discounts throughout the night. it sucks to be waiting around in a packed club because everyone is waiting for the 2-4-1 because they all know it's coming.

^meaning all the cheap douches just want to wait for the next two for one.
I only saved those for the guys who would buy regular dances because I knew after the two for one, I'd have them back there for an extra two regular priced songs at least.

I'd laugh at the guys who'd want me to come get them for the 2-for-1. like, ha, yeah right. I'm going to give that to a guy who deserves it. Not some guy who's just sitting here mooching 2 for ones all night.
