Default My roots are growing in- Please HELP

I used indigo hair dye which left my bra strap length hair jet black. Since then I grew it out down to my waist. About two months ago, I went to a hair dresser to have blond highlights put in throughout my whole head. The bottom half of my hair, which I had applied indigo, ended up turning brassy green. I had to chop it all off to chin length. I am so terribly sad since my hair is one of my best assets.

My question is, since my roots are growing in (I have dark brown hair), should I dye my blond highlighted hair back to its natural color and wait until it reaches my waist again to add the blond highlights? Will this be too damaging? Or should I visit my hair dresser every two months to have her blond up my roots? Do you have any other suggestions? Please help! Thank you!

Let the hairstylist do it. Then you won't have another incident where you have to cut off all your hair.

If you want the blonde hair, keep going back to the stylist for root touchups. You've already chopped off the damaged part of your hair, so I don't see why it would make a difference what color you kept it. I know what you're going through. I dyed and fried my own hair blonde, and recently had to lop off a big chunk of it because it was just too damaged and ugly looking and was never going to get any better. I dyed my hair back to brown, but only so I could keep all my hair healthy until the rest of the damaged hair grew out so I could cut the rest off before going blonde again - this time professionally. But, from what I gather, you've already gotten rid of the most damaged hair, so if you keep getting your roots done by a professional, you should be fine. You'll probably just make it worse if you try to dye it back to a darker color and then back to blonde again later. If you take good care of it and get it done by a professional, it should grow back just as quickly as it would if it was dark.

Wait, wait... the highlights were so important to you that instead of just dying everything back to dark to cover the green or trying to fix the green... you cut off all your hair?

Just keep your roots touched up. If you dye over the blonde... later on... someone is going to color correct the bottom and it's likely the ends won't match again.

lolz. Some shades of brown turn green on realy damaged hair, too.
I've seen a few heads of green hay. lol

Poor thing. Seriously, though... definitely easier to just stick with what you want instead of dying over it and having to change it later. By the time those dyed ends hit your waist they're not likely to be in any condition to stand up to stripping dark dye out of to recolor blonde. Don't want to end up with blonde hay next time.

Thanks you all for the info. I'll end up touching up as my hair grows out. Luckily my hair grows super fast. I already have 1 1/2 inch of growth since I had it done at the end of July. No worries.

As a hair stylist myself your hair dresser should have known that you had dark dye on your hair, you can tell by just looking at it. The hairdresser is to blame for this happening, any professional would know that was going to happen. Sadly this whole situation could have been avoided & then fixed even after the problem. On the positive side you cut off your damaged hair, just touch it up like you plan & get hair conditioning treatments and you'll be fine.

^Yeah for sure. Funny thing is, I did a search on this forum for hair dressers specializing in blond coloring and got the recommendation from a girl on here. GRRR..I'm watching The X Factor right now and looking at Nichole's hair is making me miss mine so bad : (
