Default How long should you wait??

I'm having a consultation tomorrow with a plastic surgeon and scheduling a rhinoplasty operation. I don't feel comfortable telling him I'm a dancer, so would anyone else happen to know about how long I should wait till I go back to work? Is it safe to go back as soon as the swelling goes down to socially acceptable? I know it won't take it's true form till 6 months to a year, but people who get these surgeries must go back to work a lot sooner than that...

I researched more online (RealSelf.com is really useful btw!) and a few asked when it would be safe to 'go dancing' again...and the majority of the responses from the surgeons said 3-6 weeks is appropriate waiting time. Dancing or any other strenuous activity raises your blood pressure, which can prolong bleeding and swelling time. Please give me an update when you finish your surgery, eager to hear how it went. Also, can I ask how much your paying for it and what state you're in? I'm in Texas and hoping he won't quote me much over 5k.

this really depends on what you're doing to your nose. some people are having bones shaved down, breaking bones...and others are getting cartilage snipped and sewn together. it really, really depends.

swelling is one of those things where ....here's the beauty. your entire face is going to be swollen. meaning plumper lips, fuller cheeks, smooth full supple looking skin. so appearance wise, you're coming to be wearing makeup but you're probably going to really, really like some of the side effects of the swelling

you will know when you're ready to go back to work. three weeks will be fine. do, however, be cautious of using your cell phone in bed to decrease the risk of dropping in directly onto your new nose.

do some nice meditating for the days before your surgery. assure your mind that you will be fine. feel really good about your surgery. relax completely. know that your surgeon is going to do his or her best work on your face. be really excited and be really ready to be bored while you have a cast on your face.

i don't see why "i'm a stripper" would come up during a rhinoplasty consult but "model" should do if you're that concerned about it. but darling, you are not the first dancer to have a plastic surgery consultation. in fact, some of them will understand better if you're trying to do something dramatic (lip implants, for instance) if you tell them that you are in the adult industry. honestly, i told one doctor i consulted with that "listen, i do porn, i'm not going for 'natural' anything". he was so damn responsive and on the same page as me after that even though i ended up not getting the surgery.

Just had my consultation today! It went really well, and I had already been researching him forever. He specializes in only facial plastic surgery, so no "Boob Dr." doing my nose. I need to get the ball rolling, want to be healed enough to where I'll feel comfortable visiting my family around mid December...so I scheduled my surgery today for Nov. 2nd. I didn't want to miss out on Halloween, so didn't want anything sooner, lol. I'm in Austin, TX and was quoted $6064 after everything. I can't believe how much lower yours is, I'm jealous. I wasn't able to talk him down either. He has glowing reviews though, so I'm taking the bullet. So excited too!

Just want to say congrats!! Hope everything goes well. I had a rhinoplasty a couple years ago, and had to wait about a month to start exercising again. After a week or so, the swelling was down, the cast was removed, and I was able to go out in public, so anyone with a less physically intense job would be able to start working again at that point... but you definitely need to recover more before dancing. You don't want to ruin the beautiful nose you paid thousand of dollars for.

How do you like your new nose? Is it everything you thought it would be, or do you have any regrets? Was it a painful recovery? Has it changed your confidence at all? Did you tell people, and did they notice a big difference?

Sorry for all the questions! Very curious.

Haha, it's ok! I really love my nose now. No regrets. : ) It was something I used to be extremely insecure about, but ever since I had the surgery, it doesn't even occur to me to worry about what my nose looks like. It doesn't look fake, it's just thinner and more "feminine" than it used to be. I've had people comment on how I have a cute nose, which I'd NEVER been told before, lol. It's helped me become a lot more confident.

The recovery wasn't too bad, I had a lot of swelling and bruises under my eyes for the first few days, but it went down soon enough. I stayed home from work for a couple weeks (retail job), then went back as if nothing had happened.

I've only told a couple of close friends, and they said they hadn't even noticed, but that they liked the way it looked now. I think it depends on how drastic of a change you have. My nose was really wide and had a slight bump in the middle, and I had it narrowed and shaved down, but it still looks like "my nose."

So yeah, for me it was 100% worth it.
