    Default Glasses on cam

I searched and couldn't find anything on this so I apologize if I'm repeating a question that's already been asked.

I wear glasses. I'm blind as a bat without them can can't even read the computer screen if I take them off. A lot of guys think they're cute but the computer screen glares on them on cam and you can't see my eyes. Guys are always asking me to take them off so they can see my eyes.

My question is, are there any tricks to reduce the computer screen glare on cam... maybe placement of the cam or monitor settings, anti-glare screen covers or anything like that?

I've considered getting contacts just for camming (since I hate wearing them), but my glasses are sort of part of my cute nerd persona. Do you girls think it would be worth sacrificing the cute glasses for contacts?

well, we are almost in the same boat, except i cant wear contacts. even not for a few hours a day. and yes, same here, guys keep asking me to take off my glasses all the time. i HATE it. so ive given up, i dont wear them when i cam. i have two accounts on my laptop, one for regular use and one for camming. on the camming account i have tweaked my monitor so everything is EXTRA large there. and i just dont wear glasses when i cam. thats it.

i couldn't afford it last time i brought glasses, but the time before that i got some sort of special anti-reflective coating over my lenses that helped a lot when working at computers. maybe you can check into it? i definitely want to get it again when i get my next pair. it's more for help for your eyes when looking at the computer though i think.

for me, i move around a lot on cam so they are able to see my face at different angles, and the computer screen doesn't glare directly on my glasses so much when i'm moving around, so they're able to see my eyes better.

i don't get guys asking me to take mine off very often though. not sure why. i do get a lot of compliments on my eyes.

    I too vote anti-reflective

but , in the meantime, try positioning your computer monitor/laptop BELOW your face with the camera on top of it. Glare is mainly a problem when you are level with the monitor. below def works best for me.

If you're sitting in front of the computer try sitting "katty-corner" or slightly sideways. You should also consider getting a 3 point lighting set-up as it'd alleviate the glare you're getting from the monitor by offering indirect lighting from other areas.

Word. I love my reading glasses on cam. It's actually a niche and it worked very well for me on MFC. I wear the thicky black rim hipster frames.

There are a few things you can do that will eliminate the glare. The poster above hit the nail on the head with the 3-point lighting. Go check out some youtube videos on cheap or diy 3-point set-ups. The lighting set up plus turning down your monitor brightness should take the glare off. You should also consider moving your monitor if possible and experiment with diffrent angles as well. These three things combined should take the glare off completely.

In the case that another girl has this issue and find this thread, I'm going to link up some stuff that should help.

Here are a few tips (for Windows users) on turning down monitor brightness.

Here is a video on 3-point lighting and how to do it for under $35. This man is not amusing and I don't know why I chose his video. He just creeped me out and I thought it was funny. It's am and I'm still on my first cup of coffee. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbZlIdDO80w
    Enjoy. o.O (LOL)

Let us know how it works out for you!

Awww Thanks CamWhore. I kinda wen a little out of the way to help out because i've gotten such great advice from the forum. I want to pitch in as much as I can.

I thought of something else I tired yesterday: I actually took a desklamp and stuck it below where I sit and it takes the "under eye baggage" right off me. It's a little bright and it washes my skin tone out a bit but damn does it cover those facial flaws! I'm wondering if that might help out with the glare as well. I run a laptop and if I unplug my power source my monitor dims a bit to conserve energy. Thought I should add that. Just be careful and mindfull of your battery power so you don't shut down mid-show.

Yes, I'm gonna keep my glasses on I know they're damn cute hehe. I can't believe I never thought about dimming my monitor brightness! It's easier on my eyes too. I'll definitely play with lighting and angles. Thanks, girls, you ROCK!!!

Update: I turned my monitor brightness down to low (the default low setting on my monitor worked perfectly) and got one of those lights that clip on to stuff and clipped it to my desk so it was a little higher than the keyboard. Just those two things helped a lot and you can see my eyes with the only glare on my glasses being at the very edge. Planning on messing around with other lighting options while I'm at it.

    Thanks again, ladies!
