    Default Thin hair...

So I just got my hair extensions out, and my hair is thiiin. I mean, it's naturally thin, but it feels worse compared to how it was with extensions. And it's really damaged at the ends, from being bleached a lot in the past. Gah!! Just can't win.

Any of you ladies deal with thin hair? What do you do to make it look nice?

I already want to go back and get hair extensions again... *sigh*

Hi Seashell, can I ask where you get your hair extensions?

if the ends of your hair are very damaged its important you deep condition weekly. getting moisture into chemically treated hair, especially damaged chemically treated hair can help it look , act and feel a little better. if you flat iron your hair often cut down on it because i've seen many girls hair thicken up from using their flat irons less.

extensions will help them look alot thicker, just make sure to get someone to put them in properly because that's part of the main reason so many people get damaged hair from wearing extensions.
i don't have thin but i've heard MSM and biotin supplements are suppose to be really good but thin hair.

I have very thin hair. I wear extensions, and I found that getting them put in without the netting, helped-they don't last so long but, if they're just woven to your plaited hair rather than the net that a lot of hairdressers use, then they don't damage your own hair so much. I get mine taken out then re-put in about once a month, after 2 months I buy new extensions.

    I think to help your own hair;
Take pregnancy pills. Pregnacare or such-it helps your hair-helped mine thicken up anyway.
Wash as seldom as possible. With hair extensions in, obviously there isn't a grease build-up, so don't wash all your hair unless it needs it, wash your fringe and the roots only, stops the whole of your hair getting tangled up.
Play with your roots a lot, stimulates growth and be careful to not use heated appliances unless you absolutely have to. When not working, find a style that you can work with that doesn't require those, if you can.
    Hope I helped! xx

Good nutrition (protein, biotin), scalp massage, wash with only conditioner -- no silicones, no sulfates. Rinse with a squirt of lemon juice or vinegar in water. Perhaps castor oil or even anti-yeast infection cream on the scalp before bed & before washing. Blot hair dry with an old t-shirt - no rubbing with a towel. Oil the ends. Finger comb, wide-tooth comb most of the time.

For me, I had to give up pulling my hair tight into ponytails and attaching falls for the club or camming. For extensions, I only use clip in bangs but take them off after my shift. My doc rightly told me I had "tension alopecia."

    It's gotten a lot better.

Is it better for your hair to use a round brush instead of a flat iron? I feel like I have to use some kind of heat styling in order for it to look nice...

I use Chi Silk Infusion on the ends and that helps a little bit as a leave in treatment... Any deep conditioners you recommend?

Alchemy hair products- I changed my hubbies hair care about 6months ago and we have both noticed his hair growing in thicker, stronger and with higher colour intensity.

Oh man, I used to have alopecia, too! At the time, the hair at my roots was thinning, but now it's the opposite... only the ends are thin, the rest is pretty normal. Alopecia is such a pain to deal with, but luckily your hair can recover and be normal again.

Thanks for the suggestions! I used to use a sulfate/silicone-free shampoo & conditioner, think I'm gonna go back to that. I try not to rub my hair with a towel, and I use a wide-tooth comb. Whenever hairdressers try to comb my hair with anything other than a wide-tooth comb, I flip out... don't want to lose any more hair than is absolutely necessary! lol

its sounds like you're growing out the damaged parts so your ends are going to be thinner. regular trims will get rid on them over time.
Neutrogena triple moisture deep recovery hair mask and Humectress Hydrating Treatment Deep Conditioner are good deep conditioners.
clip ins might be a good option. just make sure to take them out carefully and not to rip them out when you remove them so you don't damage and lose anymore hair.

using a round brush might be a little better for your hair and you can get some volume as well using a round brush. if you can, try to use heat only once a week and use heat protectant serum before hand, any will do.

continue to look after your hair and in time it will get better. i thinned my hair out some time ago from doing very tight pony tails and aggressive brushing. as i became more gentle and made sure my hair was moisturised, it recovered.

Well, for the fullness, I had used a great product by a co. called J. Lazertique in NY, they had a spray on volumizer..
Also, I've heard great things about Bumble & Bumble volumizer, they're sold mainly in salons, look on their site..I have seen some of their stuff @ Sephora, Walmart & Target too
I'm dealing w/damage too, but I have coarser hair. You could try the above for damage products..good luck!

Be careful not to overdose on vitamins. I've read that if you have too much vitamin A, it triggers your hair to fall out. So read what the Daily Value percentages are on your vitamins.

I have long, very fine hair and it used to get really cacked up up by bleaching and using heated curlers and tongs. So I have just let it grow natuarally now. I wash and condition three times a week and have it trimmed every 2 months. Apart from this....it's as God made me.

i have been using thicker fuller hair, by schwarzkopf. i find in walgreen's cvs, all over. i use their shampoo and conditioner, and the celluplex instantly thick serum along with the root lifting bodifying spray. i blow it out, and use either velcro rollers, or ion thermal hot rollers for alittle extra body. get a good layered cut too! i have alot of hair but it is baby fine in texture. i was using the samy products fat hair, really loved the shampoo and conditioner but can't really find it around anymore. good luck, and remember to work with what you got, not against it! i would love to be able to grow my hair really really long, but it would just hang and do nothing so i wear it shoulder lenght and it looks healthy full of body and flips sexy.

Cut it. Take "hair" pills from walmart. Do castor oil massages on the scalp few times a week. Dilute the oil with another lighter oil. Maybe evoo, jojoba, or grapeseed.

    Thumbs up Re: Thin hair...

I recommend you a good hair product that helped me a lot when I had my hair damaged, it's it's Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment with Heat Protector, it will help you to protect your hair, keep it healthy and strengthens the hair that's prone to breakage, so in no time your hair will look so much better. Hope this may help and good luck with that girl

When I had extensions, most of my hair fell out, I got 2 bald spots in the end and my hair was 50% thinner. My hair was already naturally thin, fine and blonde.

I was recommended "Nioxin" I would suggest to buy the number "4" research it, such as 1(non-colored) and 2 (colored hair) is for thinning hair, level 3 (non-colored) and 4 (colored hair) is for notiable thinning hair. In the start I have used "2" starter kit, came with shampoo, cond, and a spray. I highly recommend you buy it! I noticed my hair growing in thicker and more dense after 3 months. The spray promotes blood flow towards the scalp and you make sure to massage or brush for 5 mins when you use it. It has helped my hair a lot! Now after 2 years, I still use this shampoo (without cond. and spray) and use number 4 just to stay safe. Leave it in for 2-5 mins and rinse with cold water. It has helped me hair compared to other products.

Other than that, take biotin, B, A, flaxseed oil/fish oil, and D mixed with zinc to promote hair growth. My hair takes forever to grow, but I try to keep with these daily and when I do I notice a difference. It takes 30 days for biotin to kick into your system so dont give up if it seems worthless in the start.

Dont use hot water, keep it warm to cool. Always use cond at the ends, let most of your hair naturally dry, when blow-drying keep it at warm or cool, remember not to tug your hair a lot when wet as its likely to break, use your fingers to blow dry it too.
