Is the 9000 still the best as far as pick it up and plug it in??
Im upgrading today (its been awhile) and really would like to get the best . I know its been said that the 9000 or c9? was the best. Just seeing if theres something better available.

Well whatever you do don't get talked into a cheaper model. I went to best buy and asked the guy about the cams. He told me Logitech was not worth it it was just a brand name and talked me into another cam. I compared it to a friends Logitech and was really disappointed.
I hope it still is since I just snagged mine for $34I can't deal with this shitty isight anymore. I'd imagine there are probably better webcams for sure, but what they offer is probably not necessary as far as what your customers are looking for.
I use the logitech c9000 and i love it. I'm not sure if there is something better yet, but I have been very happy with mine.
the 9000 is still a great value but I prefer the clarity of the c910..It shows every blemish and wrinkle though.
"If you don't stand for anything, you'll fall for everything"

the one complaint that i have about the 9000 is that it makes you look too blurry if you move too fast on cam. i was wondering about the c910, if it was better in that extent. i am thinking about switching for that reason alone.

iawtc. I have both and have cammed off of two computers with both - side by side the c910 is clearer (has a higher p & fps) but I have issues with it flickering or certain sites w/o an encoder (I have toggled every setting). It mounts better and is heftier than the 9000 though. I broke the "tail" on my 9000 within a few weeks (idk either) but the mounting tail on the c910 feels indestructible
Still I still prefer the 9000 - it can retain HD quality without making me see the growth patterns of every bit of hair I missed shaving in my crotch

Crap , 60 sounds great , They are still 90 at my closest bestbuy!!

Snagged that shit on ebay! Buy-it-now, I haven't the patience for bidding. Here are a the cheapest up there right now:

crap. I am an idiot in a cold medicine induced haze, I have the c910 and I love it. lol

where USB webcams in the < US$100 ballpark are concerned ...
The Logitech 9000 is a 2 megapixel camera with excellent video resolution, and it can produce a decent frame rate for 720p HD. It's been around for a few years so the 'bugs' have all been fixed. It's driver software requires a lot of computing power, though, so to keep your video stream frame rate up your computer needs to have a fair amount of 'horsepower' ( with lack of computer 'horsepower' producing blurry moving images ). Biggest complaint is that this camera doesn't come with a stand / tripod adapter.
The Logitech C910 is also a 2 megapixel camera with even better video processing, and can produce a good frame rate for 720p HD. It's a fairly new model and there have been a few complaints ... mostly in regard to auto color balance. It claims 1080p HD capability but the frame rate is a bit limited.
The Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000 has a 'native' 720 optical sensor that eliminates the need for a ton of image conversion by your computer to achieve 720p HD at a high frame rate - even on 'low horsepower' computers. It's almost brand new, though, and problems have been reported regarding capturing fast motion.
A new addition is the Agent V5 2 megapixel camera with excellent resolution which can do 1080p HD at 15 frames per second and 720p at ~30 fps frame rate ( limited by USB port speed ). This camera is also the only 'low cost' webcam I've seen that can accept both a tripod mount and also a lens adapter which then allows you to use any size / focal length standard photo camera lens you want to ( although the 5 layer lens it comes standard with looks pretty good ) !!! One potential drawback is that the camera doesn't have auto-focus, but this can also be an advantage if you're usually working at a fairly constant distance from the camera ( or if you don't want your customers counting your ingrown pubic hairs ! ).
While any of these cams will do a reasonably good job on 780p HD, in truth only the Agent V5, and to a lesser degree the C910, have a shot at achieving something close to acceptable webcam performance at 1080p HD. With the exception of a couple of brand new USB 3.0 cams that have just been introduced, like the 3.2 megapixel Point Grey Flea 3, in order to achieve true 1080p HD at full frame rate you'll still have to use a dedicated video capture card and an analog camera. But both of these true 1080p HD options are likely to set you back $800+ whereas all of the above USB cams are in the < $US100 ballpark !
and might be worth a look if you're shopping for a new cam !

i wasn't using the encoder at all and i wasn't streaming live. i was making a vid the other day for my c4s and i was bouncing on a balloon and the bottom half of me looked very fuzzy when i was moving fast. i always have autofocus turned off. the lighting was fine. i have played with the settings in the past and nothing seems to make it look different which is why i think it is the cam itself.

I love my Logitech HD C910.That and the Logitech 9000 seems to be the two most recommended webcams. Logitech is a brand name that I trust, and believe me, when you go from having a lesser quality cam, such as Logitech E3500 to the C910, it's a BIG difference and so worth the purchase!

I love my c910. It's so crisp and clear. I wish it didn't show so much sometimes, but I still love it. I can use less light, I can talk quietly and everyone can still hear me. It's awesome.

Sony EVI D100 still a good one to use? I cam full time and want to get one in the next couple weeks. Just hope it is worth the investment![]()

^^^ the Sony D100 camera is still considered to be the 'gold standard' of true 1080p HD plus remote pan / zoom / tilt. But the 'gold standard' does indeed cost a bunch of 'gold' i.e. $800+ between the camera and the Osprey or other video capture card required to interface to the camera.
So between webcam host percentage and income taxes, 'paying for' a Sony D100 camera setup versus one of the USB cameras is going to require you to make an additional ~ $2,000+ in paid webcam sales. On the other hand, lots of webcam customers give preference to girls who offer remote P/Z/T and true 1080p HD.
Well, LogiTech has certainly been around the longest in terms of 'dedicated' webcams ... I think that I bought my first QuickCam back in 1997 ! And LogiTech's popularity has 'forced' all of the webcam host sites to completely debug their streaming software where LogiTech cameras are concerned. But for a fact, the Agent V5 and some other newer alternatives in the < $100 price ballpark do offer more 'bang for the buck' in terms of camera performance.I love my Logitech HD C910. That and the Logitech 9000 seems to be the two most recommended webcams. Logitech is a brand name that I trust
