Default Found a possibly *awesome* wishlist site- need opinions!

I wanted to create a wishlist for my avatar in SL... well, SL doesn't directly do wishlists, so they sent me to: http://www.wishpot.com

It looks like this would be a great way to have an anonymous wishlist -and- the best part, is that you can accept 'contributions' towards the cost of your gifts! The contributions would be sent to your paypal account- but seeing as this wouldn't really constitute as adult... maybe it could work? I wanted to see what you all thought about the site, and see if we could work this to our advantage.

And they also have buttons and a widget

wow, would be awesome if this pans out. Would the contributions have to be used toward the gift or could you just use the cash?

This is great! I have wanted to use a wishlist but I hate how Amazon works. Has anyone used this one so far and had any luck?

Is this site actually associated with chip-in?

    We definitely need testers/feedback

I tried using chip-in, and shut it down almost instantly. I made a new paypal just for this chip-in and after having one guy chip-in [whom was the guy who suggested it in the first place], I found out that he was given access to my real name And I was given access to his full name, as well as address. Luckily I shut it down before anyone else accessed it.

I definitely don't want a replay of this, courtesy of the paypal system!

I just tried sending a payment to myself, and it only showed my e-mail address at the top.. but I don't have another card I can use to make the payment go thru.. so I will try to set up another paypal account and send some money to it so I can see what info is given.

The only thing I could find in the TOS that may be a problem, is about the hyperlinks being associated with adult sites.. so that's not a huge deal. I'll let you all know what happens after I send myself some money

If you have a paypal business account then only your business name and email show up. Be sure your customer contact details are also only business names.

I use ChipIn successfully and love it. I'm going to check out this wishlist option although as I'm in the UK it may not be of use to me.

EDIT: I've just been looking at wishpot and it states that people can see your shippping address.

"visible to those you are Wishpot friends with or those you share your wish list URL with"

so a link on my website or my profile to my wishlist will allow someone to see my address.

Lovehoney.co.uk seems to be the only company to keep it totally private but they sell limited types of goods!

I wouldn't risk it. Do they allow adult transactions? I know paypal doesn't, so its not worth the risk to me.

Just in case you didn't see it - there have been several hosts using chipin who had their paypal accounts frozen and/or confiscated for adult activity.
Unfortunately chip-in will definitely get your paypal account shut down if they find any evidence of adult stuff.

Yes, I was thinking more along the lines of using it to accept donations rather than tangible items that they'd have to ship to.

It would be more like a chip-in/contribute than money for product, so I don't think there would be an issue as far as it being an adult transaction. But no, there's nothing in the TOS that says you can't accept money if you are doing adult work. I just don't think they would want it to be used as a payment processor- more of a donation site.

That's what I was thinking - just accept money towards items on your wishlist. maybe that extra layer of having it there on that wishpot site would protect from being shut down by chipin and paypal.

Really not sure now though, wondering exactly how it works and if chipin/paypal will be able to see where the $ comes from.

To add, they can fine you a $500+ and freeze your bank account. PayPal is a big company - I wouldn't fuck around with them...well, directly.

There should be equal opportunity for everyone, regardless of occupation, to get cash and gifts! Why would it even matter as long as we aren't giving services for tributes?

But, as long as you are just sending a link to the wishlist instead of putting the button/widget on ur site.. I don't see the problem? I definitely wouldn't use it as pay-for-services anyhow because paypal gives refunds too easily.

Maybe - just maybe- if we keep the wishlists vague, instead of being like Camgirl Jessica's Wishlist - Contribute to the cost of this awesome dildo!
It may be a little more incognito.

Yeah I know. Their policies piss me off. They froze a bunch of hosts for having chip-ins on adult oriented blogs, not even on a webcam site.

It seems crazy to me because they used to accept adult years ago and then suddenly changed the rules.

but yes, sending a link to the wishlist and just accepting donations, seems like that would work out.

Bleh. Seems there is no way to hide your address, anyone who looks at your list can see it. That plus I'm not sure I totally trust the loophole side of things, paypal is a nasty bitch about adult industry stuff

    My thoughts exactly.

I'll just stick with the Amazon e-gift card route. The guy just gets my alternate e-mail address...he WILL NOT get my real name...and I can enjoy picking out what I want from Amazon.
