Ah, my old meezer did the knocking-over thing too. He didn't bite, but man was he a diva! (I had him for almost 19 years, I still miss him.)

When I started camming I was worried about what my current cat would do. He thinks the world is ending if I close ANY door- he yowls, claws at the door, tried to rattle it off the hinges, makes holes in the carpet in front of it. So the bedroom door has to stay open, and I've been happily surprised that he has never gotten in view of the cam. If he jumps on the bed he just curls up at the foot of the bed, conveniently out of view. It's nice because I can say hi to him during breaks, and tell him what a weird job this is.

Like any of us would trade our cats (with all their quirks and diva-ways) for anything in the world

Guess Im lucky , my cats ( I have two ) are really well behaved when I cam. They are used to having the whole house for themselves to roam around , but the bedroom was always a no-go area. Sometimes they meow at the door or scratch a little bit but they give up after a couple of minutes.

If they dont - I just log off , make some time for them and play and cuddle or give them food or a treat , and then log back on and do my thing while they have a rest.

I put a giant line of catnip on the ground if I'm working where the cats usually are, they'll be WAY too busy chasing eachother to pester me! Unless I'm by a window, my cats love to get high and watch nature >.>

Ha...I was wondering what to do about my cat. I cam in a separate room and close the door. The cat has the whole place to herself but she lays down by the door and sticks her two paws underneath, grabbing the door. It's totally cute and hilarious but ultimately distracting because it makes noise. Sometimes I'll let her in and she'll shoot me a suspicious look like "wtf are you doing in this room" but just go sleep somewhere off-camera. I wouldn't trade my cat for anything though. She's great company despite her very rare moments...

I have a large Rag Doll ... who would always start meowing loudly, door banging etc., if she wanted attention and wasn't getting it. Thus she never came into camera range, but could be heard on mike from 2 rooms away ! But I also have a small Scottish Fold, who never makes noise, but who wasn't the least bit shy about jumping on my lap ... or shoulder ... or head ... if she wanted attention and wasn't getting it ! I could never cam today with either of my cats in the house.

Melonie, I bet your kitties are gorgeous! I love those breeds. I have a large Maine Coon who is intimidated by my 16 year old mutt.lol

LOL I was having fun with the tags. I wondered if anyone would notice.

I CAN'T shut her out of the bedroom because I'm really poor and renting a one room apartment The bathroom is the only door, and she's inside only.

I actually DO have a dog, but he couldn't come with me to this apartment, so my mom is watching him for a few months. My husband pulled him out of a trashcan in Atlanta when he was just a pup and the first thing I said was "GOD that dog is UGLY."

We tried turning him into about 12 shelters but they all gave me the same canned response that he was one ugly mutt and they were gonna give him a shorter adoption period than normal. There had just been a big local puppy mill bust she all the shelters were over max capacity. Sigh. I thought he deserved a chance so I decided to keep him instead of sending him to his doom. Seriously, this pup was hard to look at.

He's hyperactive, neurotic, screams in the middle of the night for no reason... I don't mean "whine". I mean he SCREAMS like he's just been hit by a van. He is completely untrainable, aggressive toward everyone that isn't me (and my mom, apparently). He's really hopeless. He's a COMPLETE mess. All because of my stupid bleeding heart, sigh.

    Dogs are not always better.

Psh, try it and see the difference. Dogs are great in their own way, but (apart from smelling REAL bad!), they NEED you too much. A cat doesn't need you, he stays because he loves you and wants to give his time willingly to someone he feels is worth it. Studies have shown that cats actually form the same friendship patterns as humans, and that's why we understand each other so well, that and both being predators of course. A cat can let itself in and out, doesn't have to be with you every second of the day, doesn't run off barking after other (generally bigger) dogs, and is far more, well let's face it... funny!! My cats have me in stitches constantly. Would not change them for the world!!
