Any professional insight into this situation is appreciated.
I don't go to clubs very much but I'm in one a few days ago while out of town with some clients. These guys are strip club regulars, and said they'd pay for everything and I know they throw money around, so hey why not
After a few hours, they say they want to go to VIP. The client is hot for the waitress. They have a lot of drama in their relationship despite having met a few hours ago. There's lots of negotiation, and I stay totally out of it, but we end up in the VIP with the waitress and her two dancer friends.
Now I know the client paid about $1500 for the room and had already purchased two $700 bottles dollars of vodka just so the waitress could sit with us. We're having a very enjoyable time (nothing out of bounds btw) but the client leaves. More drama, he's back, he's gone again etc. I finally go look for him, don't find him, and when I get back, I ask the waitress and the dancers what's up. They tell me the client is refusing to tip the two dancers, and the waitress tells me she's so mortified she's paying her friends $50 bucks each of her own money. I tell them I will cover the tips. FWIW I'm fairly (ok pretty damn) drunk at this point.
Then the client comes back arguing with a very young looking manager and a lot of "this place is a ripoff, we're leaving" vibe. The next thing I know we're in a cab speeding off.
The client says he asked how much the girls would expect to make the rest of the night and put that in the room price so we could just hang out undisturbed, but after half an hour, the manager wanted to charge another $1500.00.
The client insists we overpaid the girls, but I feel guilty if the girls were, in fact, under compensated.
Or should I? Didn't the waitress negotiate the dancer price into the room charge? I know that waitress is no slouch!. Wouldn't the dancers know what they were getting in advance?
Was I simply being hit up for more money? I certainly hope so!
I'm just worried that maybe the girls really did get ripped off. They were certainly not super naive, but they didn't seem like seen it all pros either. I realize I am just a wallet and that's fair. I expect and want to pay for services rendered, and services were rendered with extreme professionalism. But this club is not even in my hometown, so even though I'm willing to pay after the fact, if I should, how would I do it?
Any professional insight appreciated. Thanks.
